  • Dick Trickle was in a part-time Busch Series schedule for the #92 team. Here at Bristol, Trickle took the lead for the first time on lap 47 taking the lead from Chuck Bown. Trickle lost the lead on lap 61 to Michael Waltrip. He took the lead a second time on lap 117. He lost positions on pit stops due to pitting on the backstretch. However, he hung around top 5-7 for most of this race.
Then, on lap 215, Dave Rezendes spun out. He couldn't get the car going quick enough before the pack came by. Trickle had nowhere to go but right into the driver side door of Rezendes. Instead of a top 5 finish, Trickle finished 19th.
