Into the Weird and Wyld is a great resource. I'm using it for my OSE/ACK game and think I'll adapt it to other stuff I run. It has great ideas. Glad you potlighted it for others to see
I have the 'Book of Random Tables' and totally love it. Yes I can find it online, but I find this much quicker than using an iPad to find stuff on Google. After this review I'm definately thinking of grabbing Into The Wyrd And Wild for my upcoming WFRP 4E game, the grimdark atmosphere it perfect for some of the wilderness regions in WFRP. It also looks like a great fit if I use Shadowdark or Black Sword Hack, the 'neutral' stat blocks are closer to some variant of D&D than anything else. In any case I think this book will have alot of usability across various systems. Thanks for this video :-)
I have to say about spell mishaps that I've had a great experience with that in Forbidden Lands. It might have been the first time my wife's character cast a spell and it accidentally summoned a demon. In that game you get to randomly roll various powers of the demon and it came out super creepy based on that 😆 I think it had tentacles in place of arms and a glowing translucent stomach with souls or something trying to claw their way out. I think it would burn if it brought you closer to it's stomach.
Wyrd I've got and I've actually used the Bauik monster to creep out my players in a 5e game 😅 Would have worked better ofc in my old school games. I'm going to take a new look as I'll soon get another Dolmenwood game going. Thanks for the tip on the Gentle's guide. It was half price just now so I got the pdf. I have those random tables in the series of 5 separate books. At least I think it's mostly the same tables. I like it. It's a good collection. I rather use books I'm familar with than Google. 😄
There are a few videos by Bandit's Keep where he uses Wyrd and Wild to generate adventures in wilderness areas really well. Gentle's guides have so much charm about them, I'm not a fan of AI art but grudgingly acknowledge it works really well in those books if it is AI, I really love the overall style and appearance of those books - They're very 80's computer gamey and that's ace. Is it a replacement for the first book or do they work together?

This sounds perfect for my Shadowdark home brew game. Thanks for the reviews!
Awesome! Glad to help!
I definitely want to grab Into the Weird & Wild and Into the Cess & Citadel for my DCC gaming.
I think they would both rock in a DCC game!
I wish Into the Wyrd and Wild weren't out of print though. I'd love a printed copy.
Yess me too!

I hadn't thought of iPad utility! That's a great point - I'll keep that in mind for future books like this!
System neutral removes the creative restrictions incorporating specific game mechanics into the setting, vibe of the world.

Yeah, the Dolmenwood potential for this book is immense!!
@@RedMageGM Indeed!

It's more of a replacement, but I think you could use them together. Honestly though, the 2nd is pretty much just better.
@@RedMageGM There goes more of my pennies... :D
