Instead of releasing QCR exclusives that inevitably lead to unaffordable cards, they should have all players spin a wheel and open 15 packs of a secret pack in the hopes of pulling one.

I feel like every other day I hear about Konami making YGO unplayable because either because they print all the playable cards in too high of a rarity or they refuse to ban problematic cards in topping decks. It's wild how people still play this game sometimes.

I’ve given up on tournaments since all anyone ever plays is either chimera, voiceless voice, snake-eyes, or anything than uses them. It’s just become no fun to play now 😢
I've quit playing YGO awhile ago and I moved to MTG. I used to collect YGO cards like crazy. Now I'm trying to sell my entire YGO collection before this game dies.

You know what'd be nice? All cards coming in all rarities so those who can't afford it can still have a really solid chance of pulling good cards and collectors can get their foils.

I Love how Pokémon Always releases there stuff in 3 or more raritys normal wich is mostly a ultra the full Art Rainbow or some other Shit and an füll Art alt Art wich reaches the Attention of there collectors, konami should do that too

It bugged the crap out of me 10+years ago that Solemn Warning went from a common to an Ultra rare when coming to the tcg, along with Pot of Duality going from Super to Secret rare, Rescue Rabbit going from Rare/Super rare to Secret rare, etc, simply because it made relatively easy cards to obtain into ones that would costs hundreds to obtain. Even though I don't play much anymore it saddens me to see that there's a similar trend going on to this day.

The best part is this card was already leaked (with an animation) on MD and is going to be releasing this month at some point. August at the latest.

Konami knows what they're doing, they're a business driven primarily by profit, with a customer base so accustomed to getting shit on that they know we'll never leave
Nah, they've been doing this for literal decades. This one has been the more egregious cash grab, almost to the point of those platinum collectibles, except this is actually a playable card. Until there's a mass exodus, Konami won't ever learn until it's too late and goodwill can't be won back.
As @@sweepinbelle said, they know. There is a reason why they treat TCG and OCG differently. It's never "they never learn anything," but "they learn everything and decided this is the best way to make money."
The most frustrating part of all of this is that it tells us Konami TCG is not listening to our pleas to stop rarity gouging and print rarities like the OCG.
People would have to collectively vote with their wallets, and it just seems like some of these tactics are geared towards higher end spenders. Actually not even higher in spenders, it’s the secondary market that creates the scarcity of pulling these cards in the first place. Konomi is just serving to that.
Why would they listen if people keep buying their product and rarity gouging actually increases sales because people want to pull that one card and keep buying box after box?
You'd have to be stupid to believe a company will change their business model when people are still throwing money at them.
In tcg there are people how would defend that and even argue that reprint card in lower rarity is bad. After rarity collection there was a lot of Yugituber that said that the game need to be expensive.
It'd be cheaper to buy a single of the low rarity OCG version.

I bet this gets printed in the upcoming structure deck, but only after the biggest of Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician fans have coughed up for the card.
@@Kaiyuniits not in the ocg structure deck (probably because its super cheap over there with its multiple rarities) so I doubt the tcg will be kind enough to put it in. If anything, they might reprint it as a secret in another set, or worse, shortprint it

Konami tried to do the "lord of the ring -the one ring" gimmick where there is only one version but instead they twisted our arms and said...one "rarites" with no lesser rarity for other printings...
Except there are like 5 versions of The One Ring and the base rarity is still $130 and you need 4 copies if you are going to play it in a Modern deck where it is the most popular card in the format.
This Magia stuff is almost better than The One Ring because at least it is not a format warping card that requires you to drop $500 on cards just to play any competent midrange/control strategy.

i think its cool they print exclusive cards like this, HOWEVER they shouldnt do it to something thats even slightly playable. (10K dragon is a good example, no one will ever use that card realistically).
Blue eyes is getting a lot of strong support in a structure deck soon, but most people wont be able to play one of their strongest monsters now
i think another great example of doing it right is the Magicians of Bonds and Unity cards, they're not good at all but they have a ton of collectability

I think alt art versions are enough for these qcr cards. No need to lock people out of playing the card.
I wish this kind of clear evil would be regulated, it's so frustrating. They should never short print important competitive cards, the RARITY of said cards being short printed itself is fine.

This should only ever be linked exclusively to unplayable/bad cards and not something that helps playable decks. Like if it was a BAD blue-eyes card you didn't want to play, no one would care.

It's very funny that we got the structure deck announced today and you can probably make a meta strategy with 2-3 copies and some staples and MAYBE Twin Head, but the "best" version of that deck won't be meta because of *this*
Edit: imagine if we got the Branded Structure announced and then we learned about the Byatials 2 weeks later and Sanctifice Dragon was unconditionally good and $500
my copium take is that it's actually accessible print is in the Structure Deck which, since I don't see it coming until around October/November it doesn't seem that far fetched... I think.

For $600 I can almost get the display for the Kaiba collection. I'm sorry as a Blue-Eyes fan, and player, who owns a playset of the Secret rares from the briefcase and opened them to play with them I find itg a bad investment to go for this card that doesn't have the same collectable value as the briefcase.
Still pissed that Japanese Ultimate Fusion wording prevents summoning magia with 3 Blue-eyes and a chaos ritual.

Super funny if they continued the theme to be something like a release in master duel as a royal only and you need 300 UR dust to craft it as the only way to get it 🤣
If you ask me, I think this is a good thing for the game. Making the good cards hard to obtain in the real world and in master duel should be the norm, no matter the rarity. This will be a great way to eventually get rid of meta builds and not discourage new, returning, and current players to have an individual and uniqueness to their decks. Also I could be biased because I always wish it was like the anime where only a small number of people had the good cards making the experience when one upping someone when you bought a pack with a decent card or two more surreal. This whole robotic hivemind mentally where everyone has the same deck is soul sucking.

Ahh, gotta love Konami. I dont know why people don't expect this sort of behavior from them and expect it to change. This was the company that got into pachinko in 2015, a year AFTER Japan started heavily regulating the game which was when a lot of companies like SNK started pulling out and back into games. Not Konami though, they did that instead of making new games in beloved franchises, and made money milkers like Duel Links, then investing tons of money into a failed project like Cross Duel. It's readily apparent that Konami is extremely anti-consumer, especially in the west, and decisions like this will continue to be made until players have been burned too many times and we hit a point of no return.
I feel like this card really embodies the essence of Seto Kaiba.
These are the type of cards that I won't knock on for having negates and protect effect. The only thing I don't like about it is that it can float in to other powerful boss monsters cards which also have more protection and negation effects.
Meanwhile, OCG players can pick up a copy of this card for as little as $2. Konami of TCG with their scummy rarity gouging practices once again.
I bought the Japanese version for 50 cents. No one has a problem with you playing the foreign cards. I'll buy a reprint in a few years. I was so excited for that card too because everyone was always saying blue eyes sucks and you cant play them so I thought we he a nice cheap card coming
You cant use Japanese OCG cards in the TCG
@MobiusMundUr the rule at tournaments has always been as long as the card has been printed in English you can use the foreign version of the card. I had to do that with fluffal Daredevil at an official tournament
@@kevenrules I'm pretty sure there was a somewhat recent rule change that Asian English printings of cards are no longer allowed to be used in the TCG.

During my stay in Japan, I went to some card shops in Akihabara on a manhunt for this card because apparently it was sold out in most stores over there too. I ended up finding a copy for like 10,800 yen which is roughly close to 70 bucks and.... I'M GOING TO SUMMON THIS THING IN JAPANESE IDC how anyone feels about it. Is it an authentic card? Yes. it been legally released? Yes. so I don't care if it doesn't speak English, I'm not paying rent money for it to do so lmao. Y'all going to see this OCG card on my end board and like it lol.

i mean it was a massive mistake to print it as only this rarity, i could see an argument being made in official tournaments that if they arent going to offer a reward thatd pay back the deck, then they should allow proxies.

what obfuscates the rarity further is finding trustworthy sellers who arent weighing card packs pulling them for resale, and then giving you only duds.

I have loved playing blue eyes for over 15 years and im going to get the new support in the structure deck, but i am so pissed off that i cannot justify spending so much money on a single card even if it is the best boss printed for the archetype.
INB4 the next tournament pack has QCR rarity cards which have this same bullshit, but now even harder to get ahold of since tournament packs
i think some cards should be more rare or limited than some others. And this is just right now at the top of the list.

This is why sets in Yugioh need varying rarities in the same set. At least give the chase cards varying rarities.
It’s so frustrating because the set already has 2 very acceptable QCR only printings in the two alt arts, the community would have been fine if those were the only chase cards because they have regular printings, but are still crazy to pull out of this set for any collector or sky striker fan. Making a useable cover boss monster for the two fan favourite casual archetypes QCR only is functionally evil in its intent. There’s no other way to say it.
i bought 2 booster boxes trying to get lucy enough to pull this card and didn't get it and i can't justify buying more boxes because i have most of the cards in the set and i don't need more than 3 copies of a card

Theyve printed a set every month sometimes 2 per month ever since 25th anniversiary was announced. Theyre doing this to make some money back

I main blue-eyes and Konami really pissed me off with this stunt magia should have atleast had one other rarity making it easier to obtain. Hopefully they fix this with the new structure deck coming out for blue-eyes
The answer is much simpler than that. Scalpers. They know everyone was in high anticipation of this card so they buy them all to make hundreds per copy. If the demand is high enough, scalpers will be there.
