    Since very few of us have large hydraulic lifts, I thought I'd point out that you can use the pry bar method from the top as well. Raise your hood, remove your air intake assembly, remove the plastic cover over the axle that's bolted to your transmission and use a crow bar from directly up top. Worked like a charm for me!

    1999 Camry LE- 30mm axle nut.
    Was able to use small pry bars with car jacked up. Took 30 seconds. Getting the new one in took longer.
    Very helpful video, thanks.

    Good video. I’m puzzled by the 32mm socket. At the beginning, it says you need 12 to 32mm sockets. When the hub nut is removed, the mechanic says to use a 32mm on a breaker bar. When the axle is replaced, he says to use a 30mm. I bought a 32mm socket to do this job on my 99 Camry based on this video, but both the OEM and replacement were 30mm. My fault, I should have checked it myself first. But the correct size information in the video would have saved me a trip to buy another socket in the middle of the job.

      Totally caught that too, thank you for your comment as I was planning to buy the 32 at first but then caught him saying "30" during re-install. I was llike "so which one a$@hole"...lol

    Great video but I would add, when you're reinstalling any suspension components you should put some grease/anti seize to avoid issues if you have to remove it again. You can possibly get away without it in warm climates but anywhere that sees snow and salt will have that seized in a matter of a few years

    Hello, some other videos show undoing the tie rode and lower control arm instead. I'm assuming you find your method easier...?
    Is it likely you would need an alignment after this procedure?

    • @Sanctification22
      @Sanctification22 7 лет назад

      I heard that you need a realignment if you mess around with the tie rod and lower control arm. Looks just as easy removing the strut bolts. I have a mechanic coming over to show me how it's done.

    I don't like the idea of putting a pry bar against the lug nuts to remove the axle nut, there's a good chance that you could mess up the threads. I put some old nuts back on to protect the threads from the crowbar. I also have loosened the axle nut while the tire was on the ground. Great video saved me tons of labor costs.

      1) mushrooming the axle end may keep it from pulling out from the hub, and 2) if you're replacing your axle with a remanufactured part, you have to return it undamaged to get your core charge back. 3) leaving the nut on the end of the axle gives you a bigger target for hammering it out.

      @JamesSmith-jq2jc 3 года назад

      @@bryanpadilla6695 I've not done this myself yet, was looking at videos for ideas. I'd check and make sure the old retainer clip came out, I'd try putting new one in WITHOUT that clip and see how far it goes in, make sure the ends are identical. If it goes in farther, you may have an issue with that ring on end, are they the same thickness. I'd recommend changing that seal before putting it together, mine leaks a little, thats why I'm thinking of doing this.

      @pentiuman 5 лет назад

      Josh - I'm wondering if 1A Auto Parts misread your question, as they tend to do. I'm not sure, but I'm concerned if your snap ring came off your old axle when you removed it, and the snap ring stayed in the transmission (differential), you need to get it out of there, if possible - maybe using a magnet? Not sure what would happen otherwise - best case - to prevent it from getting chewed up by the gears and ground into tiny pieces - in which case you could change it soon- drain and replace your differential (ATF) fluid - which is a totally separate supply, drain and fill plugs, no dipstick, from the transmission.
