“Walk Hard” already perfectly cast The Beatles members.
Why they got Jack Black to play Paul lmao. He ain't even fat
Big fan of these snippets from the pod please keep them up they are so good for a quick watch when I don't have the time for the pod during a busy week!
4:21 Barry Keoghan slander, never got the impression he was a "goof", pretty impressive actor
I'll see all these movies, but I'll never believe that they'll be anything great or have any info you couldn't find out better in docos or books
Charlie Rowe was the runner-up to Tom Holland for the Spider-Man role.
I could see Holland as George Harrison actually.
The only casting I sort of like is Charlie Rowe as George however they should have just gone for an unknown and definitely had a look at people from Liverpool
Paul’s Mescal looks like a mix of Paul, John and Ringo he could have been cast as any of them but he’s a bit too built for Paul and has stronger features than Paul McCartney
The casting I want to see is Maya Hawke as Linda Eastman/McCartney
i do not understand movies about modern famous folk, why not make an documentary... why would you want to watch anyone act as the Beatles???
Charlie Rowe is also gonna be in Noah Baumbach’s 2025 movie with a lot of other people.
If you were Beatles dorks youre completely anti this idea. They wont show us the true pricks those guys were...groupies, drugs etc. Biopics suck in general, we'll never get the real story nor will they or those who protect their legacy will allow anything that taints their legacy to be shown
I think the 4 movies approach is an interesting idea. What didn’t work with Bullhemian Crapsody was the fact that the surviving members of Queen demanded that all 4 members get equal screentime. What are they gonna do, say no to the people who have ownership of the music? This way, everyone gets their story told, should be no objections. Hopefully they don’t just add filler to pad out the runtime.
Wouldn’t it be better to just cast unknowns
Would be crazy to not cast a single scouser
But then who would watch it realistically
Ultimately, I want Mendes to cast the most talented actors who at least somewhat resemble the band. I'm ok with them being known actors, if they are the best. I'd rather that then take a chance on all four unknowns. But Mendes always does well with casting so I'm not worried either way.
Peter Jackson should direct these.
Revolutionary Road is absolutely AWESOME!!
It's aged amazingly well, we were just swimming in a glut of movies like that at the time, we didn't know what we had til it was GONE.
@@mikecat6291 its a universal story. I mean the book came out in the late 50's (I think) so its been around for a long time. I read the book too and I highly recommend it. Its just such good material and then you add the considerable talents of Decaprio, Winslet and Mendes and it just doesn't miss a beat.
@@pedroV2003 too true, and don't forget the "ol hopeless, emptiness"! I feel like it's the movie that cemented Michael Shannon as one of the most peerless character actors in modern film history. And then there's David Harbour who just melts into this role that's like nothing we've seen from him since. Just some of the most transfixing performances of all these actors careers, and we just handwaved it away. Now we are absolutely STARVING for movies like this again.
@@mikecat6291 ah man how the hell did I forget Michael Shannon. He was spectacular. The whole cast was brilliant.
No! Dicaprio and Winslet were so miscast. It was awful. Read the book
movie 1. john, quarrymen to hamburg movie 2. ringo. replacing pete best, beatlemania, US invasion. movie 3. George,. stop touring, death of brian epstien, india movie 4. Paul. get back sessions to break up of band. If they wanted to do it chronologically that is
They should have went for unknowns so they could mould them
The Beatles look and act like they grew up together
Getting four well known distinct people who are all famous ruins this for me
I'm not familiar w/ the guy rumored to be playing Harrison, but the other three are truly quality actors. I just wish biopics weren't generally mediocre to awful. They're gonna do what they can get a sufficient budget for, no matter the quality of the writing and production crew, but I suspect if they do these 4 movies that they'll also be mediocre at best. I'm just about the music, not the People magazine 'intimate personal look at the men behind the music' fodder.
Apparently Rowe has confirmed he has NOT been cast as George.
He’s probably the only one I kinda like however he looks too healthy to play George
source?
Which doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Just hasn’t been officially cast yet.
Why can’t you guys give credit to your source? Seems like what you’re supposed to do as a journalist. Even if it’s just a rumor you’re using it as a talking point for your show. 👎
Sean bringing a different aura with the beard… on another note…. Calling members of The Beatles Irish??? Am I mistaken?? They’re all Scousers.
Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t scousers come from Irish lineage?
You’re right, but they’re not technically Irish I guess. I see scousers as their own thing.
@@ry8102 indeed John, Paul and George all have Irish Heritage still they're scousers through and through, bit of a stretch to say theyre Irish
Okay but, I think Freddie Highmore looks more like George than Charlie. But that's my opinion.
They are going to do to the Beatles what they did to Starwars. In the words of George ''It's all too much''
need ID on Sean's jacket. i'm about to steal his swag
Has no one ever said the TV screen in that office is too bright?
We need to start a Revolutionary Road Hive
Y’all act like Mendes is a mediocre director lol, he’s an absolutely fantastic director with a string of amazing movies…I will say splitting a Beatles movie up into 4 parts sounds like a bad idea…but I get you can’t probably just have 1 movie for the Beatles cause someone is gonna get left out and not have a big part…but I can’t just imagine people going to see a movie focusing solely on Ringo lol
His last movie was one of the worst movies ever made, completely unwatchable
No, Mendes is a poor filmmaker. He stages things like a play, unsurprisingly. He over scores everything also. American Beauty is really ham fisted and Road to Perdition is halfway between the Sting and The Godfather, with none of the profundity of Coppola or the spontaneity and humor of Newman and Redford. His British movies are just very stoic and solemn, the Bond movies were overlong. Empire of Light was awful.
Love old people talking about movies.
Hell yeah, brother.
Old people. Lol
Someone has to since young people have never seen any. Have you ever TALKED to a young person about classic movie staples? Absolutely embarrassing!
If it came out before they were born, they've never seen it. All they know is the IP hell they were so violently thrust into from their mother's womb!
How old are you? If you think they're old you're wrong
@@mikecat6291young people don’t talk to each other AT ALL, they’re all staring at their damn phones!
Why don’t you guys give Jeff Snieder his credit he first reported it
Jeff is getting the love he has been name checked in other Ringer and Empire podcasts back in good old England by Klopp spruiker Chris Hewitt. Bring on the Slott-era
Dobb Mobb be like: 🤌🤌
Hot take but it’s George and John that have to be the can’t miss ones. John because of Yoko and his murder, George because I think his spirituality and virtuosity are incredibly important
Movie 1: Ringo. where he joins the band and it ends with Rubber Soul or Revolver.
Movie 2: Paul. where it goes from ‘65 or ‘66 to ‘69. What a run.
Movie 3: John. in 1970. First solo album. NY in the 70’s.
Movie 4: George. Retrospective film set in the 80’s and/or 90’s.
Agree
I think you guys should source where the story comes from. Sneider deserves the shoutout.
I'm not angry about it, just a thought.
Breathe
Jesus, no, they are actually MCU-ing The Beatles.....
just this cast is a marketing thing, casting knows guys that not look anything like The Beatles, only for catch young public and sell better this movie, lets hope that at lest the story gonna be good...
4 movies, over one year every new season:
Paul for Xmas
John Spring
A Rockn Ringo Summer Smash
And George for a Spiritual Fall
the director said he might release all 4 movies at the same time. daring
Didn’t they say when they announced this that all four movies would come out in 2027?
Yes. I wonder about this. I'm guessing there will be a short theatrical and festival run for all four, but then I could see them releasing these on Netflix or Hulu one per week or something in Nov '27.
Dickinson as Lennon -- looks so unlike Lennon it's distracting
Mescal as McCartney -- I like it, personality seems right
Rowe as Harrison -- don't know him, but 1st impression is yes
Keoghan as Starr -- please no
Harris Dickinson is also way taller than John Lennon and the other rumoured cast members too
John was not the tallest and had a pretty solid build at least compared to Paul and George until like 1968/69 when he started getting more into drugs and even then he wasn’t Harris Dickinson skinny until the mid 70s to 1980 when he was on that insane diet
Are The Beatles Irish? BBC Give The Beatles Back to the Irish, Episode 1
I don't know who ANY of these guys are.
These ad breaks are annoying as shit
Why is Mezcal McCartney? He's a dead ringer (hah) for Ringo!
Someone needs to introduce Amanda to Chappell Roan- the popular white woman who has the ACTUAL song of the summer
Amanda has before
This is the reason why studios are losing money. You don’t need 4 separate films for each member. No one will see all 4. But hey, let’s keep doing the same shit and then keep bitching when these project end up failing
Further proof that Sean needed to go on Schmoedown. Quiz battle for movie nerds that Grif from Blank Check competed on.
Sean would destroy.
Ughhh. I think the casting is pretty great, but I don't get or like The Beatles.
I only like 2 songs by them - Strawberry Fields, and The Fool on the Hill
Consider me team CR: Rolling Stones > Beatles any day of the week.
@@mikecat6291
That isn't and never has been as cool a thing to say as you think.
@@mikecat6291 I too like Rolling Stones.
Your opinions are pretty backwards
The Beatles are great but the casting is not
awful selection....not a bit look like them...
I thought the The Big Picture was above scooper bullshit but of course they aren’t. This podcast continues to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
Never heard of any of them. All these music biopics are so cringe and terrible.
