    I won one during this years Sturgis rally. Wasn’t sure I would keep it at first then found out it’s a fun little bike to ride the black hills canyons.

    +Cred for not glossing over or even cutting out the can't find neutral issue.
    H-D needs to drop a liter engine (who wants to ride a toned down V-rod engine after all?) into that frame, sort out the odd ball foot peg/shifter set up, then Profit! :)

    I did the MSF course on the Street 500 at Alligator Alley HD in Sunrise, FL. GREAT crew and a decent bike for learning. It's a very light, nimble bike with awesome ground clearance.

    I bought the street rod and added a tuffside rear fender eliminator kit and tuffside super tall boy seat, and speed merchant slip on and that transformed this bike into an awesome sounding and very comfortable rider for my 6 ft frame . It looks really great too. I have no problems finding neutral may be just the one you drove the foot controls and clutch are very adjustable too.

    Bought one of these last August. Went from a 2012 ninja 1,000 to this because I wanted something different and really wanted a Harley but not a full blown cruiser. After having it for a short season and just getting into riding season again now I honestly love it. It keeps up with all my buddies 600s sport bikes for a good bit. I absolutely love it and I'm 6'2" feel comfortable on it. Very impressed with it. Great bike. Oh, as for neutral being hard to find.. it is lol but the more you ride it the easier it gets to grab neutral.

    After all these Harley reviews I'd be really curious to see you review some other brands, Indian, Yamaha, Maybe some Euro Brands.
    Would be really cool to get our input on it after the Harleys

      I'm sure Blockhead would love to be able to cross the pond and knock out as many reviews as possible. It would be easier for him there cause here he would pretty much have to do a scavenger hunt to find a lot of those brands. If you have connections that can make it make financial sense I believe he would but I only know him from watching his videos. I do not know how well a block would fly lol. I know I have never flown.

    I tested one of these a few weeks ago. I'm 5'8" and was cramped as well. The riding position requires a little bit of flexibility in order to handle it for long periods of time. That being said, for a little bit of around town gooning, it's perfect.

    Neutral gets a lot easier to find once the bike has about 1,000 miles on it. It also gets noticeably more powerful.

    I believe the XG750 has the foot pegs an inch or two more forward which might have solved the cramped position. Looking to buy one this weekend.

    Thanks for the review dude - completely hit the nail on the head with my own concerns about the bike when I just sat on it in a showroom recently here in London. I love the Look of the bike & I've been riding an FZ09 for the past 3 years (Which I love to pieces), but having seen this Street Rod I saw it as the perfect opportunity to Scratch my Harley Itch at a reasonable price. But I myself - only being 5,6ft - I immediately also felt like I was in a too-Squat'tish-like sitting position for my liking - and the only way I would put my leg down (Flat foot on the ground) was when my calf muscle would be resting against the hot exhaust, ..so that was enough for me to not follow through with an actual test ride (But ever since, I keep looking at videos on the bike and maybe thinking I could just work away my concerns cause I really love its looks, ... but alas after hearing you mention the same issue with the exhaust hitting your leg 'concern' (And your 5.10ft !!) ,... well I'll have to pass. .... Maybe when they release the revised facelift (Exhaust & Pedals lift) version then I will revisit the idea :-)

    I'm 5'5 and I am picking up the 2019 version this week from ft Myers and I loved it when I tested it but like you I cant get neutral need more hands on to do it the exhaust doesn't burn me but it's because I have a 16 inch engineer boot on the bike reminds me of a scrambler but from harley I plan on eventually adding some knobbies and taking some trails

    I took my riding class at Lancaster Harley-Davidson, and rode the baby brother of those - the Street 500. I had a HECK of a time getting neutral in them as well! I always had to come down from 2nd gear. Sometimes had to even rock it a bit if I was already stopped.

    Just bought a 2018 with 2,000k's on it. Rode it home which took 45 minutes. Got off it with a sore lower back. I intend to make it ergonomically correct. Mini ape bars, forward controls and a Corbin seat, so my gf is comfortable. Finding a good forward control set is my current issue. I used to ride a XLH1200 Sportster, again with forward controls and a buckhorn bar. Have been away from riding for 12 years.

    Tank is 3.5gal. And rpm is 8800 and yes neutral can be a bitch it’s best if you let the clutch out just a hair before it grabs it goes right into neutral. People hate on these so much but with a couple mods and a curvy back road it’s such a blast

    Hey Blockhead, a note on the hot exhaust. Being a motorcycle instructor, the ready to ride position is with your right foot on the break when you come to a stop, so it's not really a problem if you do it that way. Only becomes a problem when you actually get off of for people that looks to foot paddle at a stop ;-)

  • @jackdale9831
    @jackdale9831 7 лет назад

    So will S&S make a 1200cc/liter version? How does that compare to a Buell 1125? They need a Norton Interstate tank available, although that tank should have had "knee" cut-outs, back when. Awesome ride,--didn't think I'd like the 60s Pontiac Verrado green, but it looks a lot better than a black [ ho...] or a metallic grey [hum ]. Needs a red pin-strip on the tank,imo. I wouldn't mind the rear cylinder's pipe snaked-out onto the other side, even though another nuffler'd add weight

    Good vid. Is it good for city rides? You seem to suggest so. But in India, riders avoid it because even the highways pass through towns and it takes about 30-45 min crawling to get out of their bumper to bumper traffic. That will heat up the engine. Will the aftermarket heat deflectors solve the problem?

  • @daviddin8863
    @daviddin8863 6 лет назад

    I've owned mine for over a year. If you ride long highway, highway bars are a must. Although I don't like how it looks with highway bars, on the other end if you take off the bikini fairing and do a fender eliminator it looks awesome. Revs to 9k tops out at 115, neutral gets better over use but is still a bitch. I'm 5'6" and I wish the pegs were like 2-3" more forward. If you get rid of the heat shield your heel is more comfortable but they you will melt the soles of your shoes when you touch the catalytic converter, but I plan on deleting mine and wrapping the pipes.

    Had the gx500 street kept it for around 3 weeks traded it in for a brand new 883. Because of the leg reason. Loved the handling and I wanted it originally because I’m new to bikes but it killed my legs after 30 minutes i laid it over twice because I couldn’t move my legs down quick enough once because my knees and legs and hips locked and or was stiff the first time was my own inexperience and I’m 5’ 9”/5’ 8” somewhere around there. Great beginner bike from a beginner’s point of view and awesome handling and the 500 might be a small motor the but acceleration is insane. Biggest down fall though is the pegs and controls and the relocation kit for them through Harley was 500 after parts and labor and I wasn’t about to spend that much on a starter so I opted for a 883 best decision I’ve had I can ride for longer than 30 minutes and not have the feeling of being bow legged and being on the back of a horse for 900 miles. ALSO that neutral problem isn’t just on the “street” models anymore it’s on my 883 and I hated it on the street but it seemed easier than my iron. But that being said my iron is brand new with barely 60 miles on it which when I got it it only had 51 miles so I hope that shit works it’s self out.

    why flatfoot when you stop? You're suppose to keep your foot on the brake when you come to a stop.

      You'd need to adjust the bars and pegs. But sit on it first.

      Hey Daryl, sounds like you have one yourself. I bought the street rod several months ago and have about 2000km on it. For some reason I've never experienced the neutral problem. Maybe I just got lucky. I was uncomfortable with the ergos at first, but after a few weeks it wasn't a problem at all. I had to lower the gear lever and rear brake pedal which helped a lot with the comfort.

    its like my 94 sportster you have to rock it to get into neutral

    • @BlockheadMoto
      @BlockheadMoto  7 лет назад +1

      I've had to rock bikes into neutral, so I'm familiar with that feeling. Even doing that, I couldn't get this one into neutral, nor when coasting to stop. Never even saw the neutral light flicker.

    Why do H-D dealer peeps seem to fail at specifications so bad? 3.5 gal tank...not 4.5. And it weighs 525 lbs, not "400's". I love H-D, but vague or bad information is becoming their new image.

    I got a chance to try a street 750 and I got to be honest it's a major disappointment the seat is crap I was cramped and to me it was way too overpriced. Hell I sat on a Honda CB 300R along with a KTM duke 390 and a Suzuki SV 650 and I felt more comfortable than I did with the Iron or the Street 750. Not only that but the customer service was trash over at Harley the salesman kept trying to get me to do a preapproval to see what I qualify for. And didn't even try to see if I could get into a used bike when he saw that I couldn't qualify for a new one. As far as I'm concerned I will not be purchasing from Harley ever. And then there's the equipment like the motorcycle jackets and gloves and helmet's I looked at the prices holy s**t talk about price gouging. I was looking the Helmet's the cheapest one I found was $135.00 a motorcycle jacket without the protection pads that you can slide into the shoulder and forearms was $125.00 and the gloves the cheapest I could find was like $50.00 so Harley loves to rip off people when it comes to their products. And also a word of advice to anyone who wants to buy a Harley don't. You basically have to have good credit like 700+have no debt what so ever and be sure to bring $5,000 for a downpayment. So anyone with a 600 credit score or lower don't waste your time they will not get you approved and will basically walk you out the door and also they will want a cosigner as well if you happen to get somewhat approved. So if you don't meet the criteria I just mentioned don't waste your time go somewhere else.
