*UPDATE*: Thanks to the help of @therealswiper I was able to improve the ride quality to gain a more comfortable, composed, and less bouncy ride in the rear. (Note it was only bouncy over harsh bumps) ⚠Turns out riding on bumpstops will do that!! ⚠ I accidentally doubled the bumpstops in the rear and they were hidden from plain sight. After cutting these bad boys out the ride significantly improved mid corner and over harsh bumps. I am further convinced that these MTS Techniks are a STEAL at their price point. Now, even in near limit driving they remain composed and planted. In short, they're amazing, get them.
Dude, what an awesome video this was. None of that hyper speed loud plastic crap that everyone is pushing out on youtube these days. Im considering buying a set for my W203 C-class, need to do alot more research but this video just makes me want to buy these coilovers on impulse haha! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and exprecience with them! :)
thanks man! thats very kind of you to say, i'm glad it was enjoyable and helpful. happy to help if you have any other questions on this set too. i know theres not too much info about them out there
@@rightminddrive Awesome, thanks. Actually received my set yesterday, if the rain lets me i will mount them today/tomorrow before vacation ends at monday :D
@@efraimk1673 how are you liking them so far? i have an e46 i'm thinking of getting the street series on fitment industries for $600. I want to have a nice fitment but also a decently comfortable ride as well.
Thank you for your video. I was thinking about the comfort version for my E36 because its used as a daily. But after reading your thoughts it seems like the street version is the perfect sweetspot between comfort and sportiness. A little addition : The new street version uses real stiff racing springs in the back. Pay attention to get the normal/old version.
Great review. I'm shocked that you are the only real review of these coilovers. Seriously tempted to get these for my e39 touring. Comfort is high on my priority as i haul kids and wife around, but still want something sportier than stock. After a year, you still loving them?
Hey man! thanks for the kind words! this video is actually about to be 2 years old. i had them on for about a year of my ownership, until I sold the car about six months ago. i would definitely buy them again. in fact, i'm considering them for my current e90. they were fantastic for a sport+ feel. i will say that i have heard that they perform slightly differently on different cars (in terms of the comfort they provide) so i would try and see if you can get someones opinion whos had them on an e39. if i had to guess though, i think they would definitely but comfortable enough for you and your family, while being a sporty upgrade.
Awesome vid! I’m local to you, I’m out in Murfreesboro. Just got an e36 and came across Mts Technik coilovers when I was looking for different options. I love BC’s and have had them on my previous cars.
I was wrong it's the same. Got the Street version for my E46. The front springs are 400lb front and 1142lb rear. Bought some softer 850lb Eibach springs for the rear.
@@LifeLongBruhGamer they are great. It depends on what you are looking for out of a coilover. If you are looking to slam or a nice lowered height. Most people won't be able to tell you how much suspension travel their suspension has at their ride height. Like KW, ST and any fix mount coilover the suspension is designed to work at a certain height. I thought they were great given the spring rates. I went with a softer rear spring.
Nice review and M3! I have a 97 M3, and looking to buy these coils. There are so many configurations of these... which model/spring rate did you go with? Or model number. Cheers!
I got mine for my Golf II like 2 month ago, and I really want to put them in so much. Still here in Germany it is kind of annoying to do coilovers, so it will take some time to get that done. Otherwise I am just too lazy XD
Thanks for the detailed review👍. Thinking of these for my Mazda 3 and coming from Fortune Auto 500's on my Civic which I'm sure was stiffer. As you said about the BC's, something about the ride( aside from the fact the springs were too stiff ) that just made it unpleasant to daily...non Swift upgrade as well. My Mazda 3 corners/steers razor sharp but hating the ultra soft cornering feel, body roll and of course there's the stock wheel gap. So you'd say the MTS Streets strike a good balance for a daily still? How are they holding up? TIA and thanks for the insight
Of course man! The MTS's are holding up very well. I still standby my initial review of how they strike a great balance for a fun car thats a daily. Since subjectivity is so hard, I'll use my wifes take as some sort of measurement- she noticed the car was a bit stiffer for the first time over a super rough patch of pavement only a few days ago after many rides in the car- she said "that was bumpy." Yet it was unsuspecting and had I not told her it was on coils she'd never know. They are very comfortable. Anyways, 2k miles later ...my only additional note would be that the ride is just a small bit busier over bad pavement than I find ideal, like when my wife noticed, but I think thats a coilover/twin tube design thing and not specific to MTS. The ride pretty much never gets harsh. If you were on the 500's, also a twin tube coilover (unless I'm mistaken, I think the 510s are monotube) then you should already be familiar with the general feel of this type of set up. I imagine the MTS feel similar but less harsh, more compliant easier to daily and no 'racecar is my daily' drama at all.. Hope this helps!
@@rightminddrive totally helps...just what I was looking for👌👍. Sounds to me like the MTS Technik would 💯 be a perfect middle ground for a daily. I would likely hit a weekend autocross for shits & giggles still but sometimes a softer more compliant setup is the way to go anyhow. Fortunately my wife doesn't ride in this car much but my co-worker does....I felt bad watching him try to time his sips of coffee on the hwy in the Civic 🤣. Thanks again for the insight...of I pull the trigger on these maybe I'll do a little RUclips review myself. I haven't seen them on anything but Bimmers! 😎 My budget alternative was JUST getting Tein High Tech springs for slight lowering and very minor spring rate increase....BUT what if the original struts are nearly shot, then I'm in it for new struts, mounts, the rears, etc. The one shot deal sounds more appealing 👍
I wouldn't describe it as a lack of grip over bumps- more so a slower rate to go back to a feeling of composure..if that makes sense. It gets there, just a bit slower than the bilsteins. And yes, it was mainly when on throttle. Only sometimes, too. Today I hit a bump on throttle, mid corner, and it felt like it regained composure as quickly as the bilsteins. I noticed after a friend pointed out that the toe in the rear is largely affected when going lower (rear wheels become pigeon toed) so I'm curious how correcting that and maybe even corner balancing can dial some of this out.
@Right Mind Drive I know exactly what you mean. My alignment helped a lot with that for me. Less toe in. But I know the issue can also come from spring rates and shock stiffness combo. I get that with my Konis/H&R springs on certain bumps. I am going to try and stiffen them up a little bit and see if that helps because I think mine now stems from shock travel. Super thorough/ in-depth video. If I am ever in the market for affordable coilovers, I'm buying yours 😂
Np! Honestly the street set is so comfortable, I wouldnt want it any softer. But if you live in an area with really bad roads I could see the comfort being the better option
Correct, no adjustment. This is more of a set it and forget it set up. I like that it's set up by pros so I can't mess it up..ride quality is really nice I think because of it

Talking about removing both black bump stops on top of the white bump stops in the rear?

The detail and composure in this video is therapeutic to listen to. Not many people can “nerd out” and still make sense but you nailed it bro. 💯
