One year later still useful haha. Good work man
Thanks mate👍
I appreciate you making these videos. Definitely subscribing and turning notifications on. 🤟🏻
Thank you, I really appreciate that😊👍
Wow, that's a very helpful video.Thank you for sharing my friend👍🏻
Not a problem, it is a very handy mod!
🤘👍
Nicely done, I plan to install a wide kit soon on my MAXX and have been thinking about the shafts. New subscription well earned!
Very much appreciated, thank you!
I mainly wanted to share this just in case anyone else can't afford or can't find the pre-made extended shafts.
Thanks again 🙂👍
Great upgrade. Can't wait to see if it works
Thanks🙂
I have a few vids running the mod already uploaded, I don't know how to edit in the other video links at the end of my videos😕
Sorry, if you look through my latest vids, any after that one is with the mod installed.
Sorry again!🙏
Traxxas seen your video and made the change
I wish that was the case😅
No I just couldn't afford another whole wide kit just for the outer shafts.
But yeah they sell them separately now🤦
Love your skills my friend 👍😍
😊😉 im glad your enjoying.
Fixing fixing 😅✌👍
Great idea! Thanks for sharing
Your welcome👍
I know you mentioned handling, I don't have one personally but below is the setup I've come across.
Shock oils 40ish front 60ish rear
Front shocks outer position in arms
Rear shocks unthread rod ends one turn to give more droop
Scoop out half of 20mil from center and top off with shock oil to thin out.
Btw keep up the great content. No need to be so self conscious
Thanks so much for the positive feedback 😃 it means alot!
I have done some mods but anything that makes it better is helpful, thanks for the tips! 😉🤘👍
I got the updated version 2 kit comes with cvd shafts.
It comes with extended outer shafts but I get what you mean.
I got my kit before I new about the v2 kit and wasn't paying again, this mod works the same anyway.
Thanks👍
Awesome video my friend. We love the channel, and support each other. Thats whats great about this hobby.
Ok so I know now I have some amazing support, thank you so much!
And yes that is so true, the hobby i mean.
All amazing people with so much positivity and respect and I think everyone is getting even friendlier 😄
Thank you my friend 😊✌👍
You're a good bloke with honest content. That's why I watch 😊
Regarding the maxx stability & handling, I also had trouble lining up for jumps when I first got it. It was difficult keeping it straight in the direction I wanted after a correction.
I found side to side play in the arms. I shimmed the arms (at the hinge pins) to remove as much play & the control has improved a lot.
Keep on bashing! 😊
😃 thanks a million! Seriously 🤜🤛
Im sure you know how much that sort of feedback means to me!
I did notice a bit of play at all the hinge pins but didn't think it was that bad, maybe ill put so shims in and see if its any better.
And again, thank you so much for the positivity and for watching obviously 😅🤝😉🤘👍
@@rccrazy As much as people Dislike the slop in the stearting that is actually engineard that way I actually have gotten the privilege and spoken in-person with a few of the people behind the seens at traxxas about this problem and they said whial i dous interfear with the stability a lil it is what gives the Maxx its resiliance and durability. So it was kind of a fine art with them to try and make it as tuff as possible and still make it fun. Also you should get some 10 mm wheel spacers to give it a lil bit more width make it even more stable . my max is 20 mm wider that a wide max... every lil bit helps =] Happy RCing
I'm not quite sure how to respond to that without sounding a little rude or opinionated but I do want to try and respond.
So I'm not sure about others but in my case the slop in the steering wasn't that much of a problem, it was the instability at even low speed.
The car is pricy but I spent more on the wide kit, it helped a little with rolling but it still rolls easy in comparison to other cars this size.
The arms aren't far from the ground and I think that's what lowers the chance of a decent jump.
It's tough as! but was not such a great feeling car to drive personally.
@@rccrazy I do aplologies i did not meant to come off upset or rude my self I do understand what your were talking about the rollover possibility it tighter with this truck.. And yes it is role happy. A couple things iv dount to try and help mitigate this was also the wide max but i changed the tiers to the Redcat Racing RER12485 Wheel and Tire and i addid the 10 mm wheel spacers on both sides as the tires are taller by a lil bit. I also put Team Associated 5425 80 Weight Silicone Shock Oil in all the shocked to try and help with its leaning and bottoming out this helped a bit but here is one of the best things i did i locked the rear dif buy ordering the Hot Rasing rear dif locker and then added way thicker fluid ti the front dif this nearly eliminated rollover and now its drifts. I how there is some info in here that helps I again apologies if i cam off wrong =]
No your not wrong in any way, personal preference plays a big part, what I love may not be for you and vice versa.
To be honest the biggest disappointment when I first got this car was the fact it cost so much but it needed so much work to be drivable, I am not rich by any means and that really got to me😕
I'm kind of over it's bad tendencies now and make use of its strengths, the fact that it's possibly my strongest car💪
They make extended plastic shafts for the widemaxx kit now, but I have been snapping them though 😢. I too am trying to figure out a cheaper way to strengthen the shafts without going to steel cvd's, unfortunately haven't come up with anything yet.
That's why I didn't bother about buying the extended version shafts, I knew I would NEED the steel cvd's eventually!
And I was going to install a 6s set-up before getting the steel shafts🤣
This mod works good enough for 4s👍
Get the proline mx 2.8s...you have to shave alil off the arms to clear the tires,.. it helps alot.
I just got a new set of wheels for it, can't buy anymore at the moment but I'll keep them in mind for next time.
Thanks👍
Great work Saul. I don’t think that it will snap in that small gap, because from what you showed on the original shaft, it was a long twist and not a short one.
(if that makes sense). So yeah I think you got something more durable. 💪🏼💪🏼
Absolutely mate 👌
It was definitely a long twist, almost the entire exposed part!
There's no way that tiny little gap left over can ever bend or twist, I like it 🤣
Thanks bud! 😉🤘👍
You have good content is part of the reason why I watch your stuff and am subscribed to your channel. You are far from the only one to be disorganized. I can't see any reason why putting those sleeves on the driveshafts could hurt anything. Seems like it can add some rigidity to them. I have heard on other youtubers videos that they had stability issues with the Maxx.
Thanks Tim, yeah I can imagine how many people are disorganised and all over the place.
The sleeves definitely make a massive difference and I think there going to last a long time.
Yeah iv had a few people now say they had a similar experience with the Maxx being unstable.
@@rccrazy you're welcome
Great 👍👍👍
😁👍
wen mad at broken stuff always grab whiskey (wild turkey) and hammer ..kidding never lol
😆maybe back in the day🤭
No I haven't for about 15 years.
Btw traxxas released updated female side for widemaxx.
TRA8994
Yeah I know but I can find any in stock, but this also give other people an alternative if they are struggling to find the long version.
Thanks 😉👍
@@rccrazy oof, forgot how spoiled I am to be in the US for parts availability.
😆 All good, yes its crazy down here at the moment.
I've been waiting close to 6 months for my Kraton EXB 😭😱
@@rccrazy dang that sucks. I think the exb is an ok vehicle but not worth that kind of wait. Would probably look into a corally kronos and get the optional 7075 chassis and braces
@@rccrazy not sure how bad you want an exb, but I got mine for damn near free on an estate sale. I would let it go for just what spares/parts I bought for it plus shipping. If interested message me on Facebook. Kamron Ghani
Wish I would have seen this before I bought the 140 dollar cvds, got to buy 3 separate items to make them work. I feel robbed
Oh no😕
Yes it's somewhat of a reoccurring issue when needing most things traxxas😖
I couldn't believe the price of the wide plastic cvds or the steel cvds and this mod is still holding up surprisingly considering the punishment I have put this thing through since this video.
Anyone has an idea what the name of that little ball is?
😆 I dont actually know!
Maybe just ball joint or knuckles🤷♂️
@@rccrazy okay thank you cause I’ve been searching for the name for days and I can’t find it
@@rccrazy one more question do you know if they sell those apart or do I have to buy a new driveshaft cause one of those tiny pins on the ball broke of win my car and yea
Ah, I don't think iv seen them sold separate from the shafts but I could be wrong.
I got some I could send if you live in Australia🤷♂️
@@rccrazy I live in Belgium so yea you can’t send em but yea I’ll buy a new shaft then, it’s not that expensive thx for helping me out :)
Change those shit tires
Yes they aren't the greatest tires.
