Such a great story that teaches us a lot about bear behavior, their intelligence and their resilience. When I first started watching the Explore bear cams this was a story I heard about almost immediately from veteran viewers. I love how this story continues to live on from generation to generation.

I don't know how I went from watching funny dog and cat videos to the bear cam popping up. This is the second that I've watched and I'm hooked. This one was so sweet. I'm so glad that 503 found another family and was safe.

Which season did the Holly/503 adoption happen in? Yesterday someone said it was in 2014, and that Holly is 'single without cubs' this year. I was so happy for 503, I cried when I watched the video about it.
Is it possible Holly is the one who initiated contact with 503?
It’s possible, but I’d think unlikely. But since no one saw it, we’ll never know for sure! But it sure is an incredible story. This is why Holly has been one of my favorites for years.

The biological mother bear, 402, experienced the return of her estrus cycle which triggered family separation.
