Looked forever to find a tutorial to hem cuffed pants that was easy to follow. Thanks for this clear and concise video! Now I'm looking for more of your videos. You're an amazing teacher, even for someone like me who's been sewing for 50 years!
Thank you very much, Hyi Lim! I followed your every step and finished hems on my first dress slacks. They actually had no hems at all - raw except they were overlocked. (which I had to cut off anyway) You taught me the Magic Hem on jeans and now hem on dress slacks. You are the best teacher!!!
I want to Thank you Sir for demonstrating how to properly shorten and cuff dress pants. I wasn't sure how to do it and a customer gave me two pants to shorten and cuff. Now I understand and have followed your directions to complete it. I am very grateful to you and I look forward to learning more from your videos. God Bless
Thank you so much! I have been sewing ladies' and kids' clothes for years. But recently one of my pastors had some dress pants needing shortening and cuffs were requested. You gave me the confidence to get started. God bless!
Wow! That turned out beautifully! Professionally done! Great explanation and visually clear! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! New subscriber!🤗
Thank you for sharing this video Mr Lim. My life just got a little easier and I can now fix my husband's dress pants 👖. Its not as difficult as I anticipated. Thank you again.
You are so amazing! Thank you for sharing this! I have done this many years ago but I needed to refresh my memory as I have a customer that requested this kind of hem now days. Thank you!
Thank you my friend , I learned very well from the master :) you are very good. ! Your video is very informative and easy to understand I will be watching more of your videos, again thank you and God Bless you my friend 💜 Mrs Ricki Wolfe
Thank you for the video. I don't have many clients that want cuffs, but I know where to find the info. Very easy to follow. I've used this several times.
Thank you so much for the wonderful instructions. I had no idea how to cuff my husbands pants. Your detailed instructions were are so easy to follow. I am forever great full.👍🏼🎄
Hi! I've recently been trying to teach myself to sew (better later then never I guess) and it's been slow going, mostly because of my own fear of messing up...but my husband needed some dress pants hemmed last minute before a big event and we watched this video several times, even making notes when I got confused, I just knew I had to get it just right... and they turned out perfect! :) you're a wonderful teacher and thank you so much for the details and measurements and showing each step so clearly. I know it sounds dumb to be nervous and to need to go over this over and over, but it really helped me and now that I've done it I know I can do more and that's because of you! We can't thank you enough for not only help with the pants, but also helping me slowly gain bits of confidence. I look forward to watching your other videos and learning more!! :) thanks again!!
Thank you for sharing! Just take it step by step and take your time with it. I also recommend when learning new sew techniques to practice with old jeans or clothes that you don't wear anymore. Have a great day!
@@Sewingeducationcenter thank you so much! What a great idea!!! A lot less stressful that way! I'm just glad his pants came out perfect, thanks to you!! :) thank you for the encouragement too!! :)
@@jadetobin my pleasure! Also, I have some basic tutorials that cover everything from button sewing to stitching to making your own napkin. These you can do with scraps of fabrics and are a great way to learn sewing skills. Thank you for the kind words and keep learning!
@@Sewingeducationcenter I've enjoyed your other videos very much! But SUCH a great idea to use scraps to just practice on first. I will abos8do that! Thanks again for everything :)
Hi there! My father in law wants 1 1/2” size cuff. How would I do those measurements to create that? I’m asking because he does a 1 1/4” cuff size for these pants. Love your videos! I really appreciate them!
Thank you very much! My only question is: Why is not the iron creating a shine to the slacks? When I press the material on the right side of the fabric, it causes an undesirable “Shine” to the pants.
Wonderful! Hmmm, good question. I imagine yes but I've never done clothes for pets so I'm not the best to ask this. I would look to see if someone has created a tutorial on converting human clothes to clothes for pets - if it exists, it's probably on RUclips!
Thank you Hyi. So clearly explained. I do not have a steam generator iron. How can I make crisp creases without causing shine on fabric? Would using a wood clapper help?
Good question! A wood clapper will help but one other way is to 1) set the iron hot, 2) put a thin cotton fabric over the pants (like a handkerchief), 3) spray a little mist on the handkerchief, 4) iron the handkerchief covered pants. The cotton will add a layer of protection to the pants.
OMG....thank you so so so much for teaching us..... this is what I need to fix some of my pants... oh Mr. Lim can you teach us how to small down (narrow)the open chest area. thank you
Sewing Education Center ; a shirt with a front area open too wide and low cut, just like the I saw one of your video how to narrow the arm area instead. thank you Mr. Lim
Correct! Thank you for asking. I always recommend if not sure, try it on an older pair that you don't care about for practice if this is your first attempt. Great question, thanks!

Beautiful Work sir,...
Why was the fold 2 and 1/4, and not 2 and 1/2?
What if the cuff was 2 in. Would the fold be 3 and 3/8? This would answer the first question, thanks!

May i know the mark of your sterm irion. I3m writing from Cameroun.
So for a regular cuff of 1 3/8" you would mark 1 3/8 another 1 3/8 and then 1 inch? Just double checking! Thanks!
Correct! Thank you for asking. I always recommend if not sure, try it on an older pair that you don't care about for practice if this is your first attempt. Great question, thanks!
very good job!! =) wish I could use that machine
