I agree with below comments, this is a fantastic resource, you clearly know your stuff and I really appreciate you sharing this. I finally got this working after restarting 4-5 times and multiple re-watches, but you jump between modes so quick and use shortcuts that are hard to follow it could really do with going a little slower in future, love it though. thanks!
This is the most *amazing,* and *utterly and entirely under-exposed* blender channel I have *ever been so blessed as to come across in my days as a blender-er.* Thank you. *we literally love you.*
7:40 This is so simple! I have been trying to do that for months, I have asked in every forum, nobody could help me. I was getting so frustrated with lattices and stuff. Bruh. I just had to watch this video.
please show your outliner so we can tell what is going on, and maybe explain more. Should the newly created rotation bone be an unparented and disconnected bone too? what button are you even pressing to get the radial menu for aligning cursor to selected? what hotkey is the add new bone? How did you select the above and below line after only selecting the middle edge when texturing the line on the ball? 0 troubleshooting steps in case something isn't working. Luckily I have a degree in rigging using Maya to rig characters already, otherwise I don't know if I'd be able to follow at all. Good luck if this is your only tutorial. Takes 4+ hours to figure out a 15 minute lesson.

Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial. Although it was pretty rough to follow along, I have never expected blender to have all these cool technical features to work with.
I tried to follow your instructions, but even with the 0.5 speed it took me about 10 minutes to do what you did in 10 seconds. Unfortunately it is a torture what you did here, not a tutorial or whatever. And the worst is that you had a good intention and knowledge to make a good one. So PLEASE next time: do it slowly, show every step you do. Those little things would change it all. But for now I lost 3+ hours and did not get the result needed.
while you are kinda right about speed, still, its not as bad as you described. I am nowhere near being even advanced in modeling or animation and could replicated desired result for me from this video without problem. My advise is: try ONLY watching without doing anything, skip technical details(hotkeys and so on) and just understand the logic of bones relationship, maybe draw some sketch or diagram, whatever helps you. Also, maybe look some tutorials about bones first if you are not familiar with them, because this video implies that you already know the basics.
Hey thanks so much for this! Definitely on more of an intermediate side in terms of tools, but I'm using it to refine my rigging fundamentals so this is all great for me! Also it was funny when you said 3.0 was just a number because of how it evolved over the Alpha. And I know this video's a while ago, but just wanna share that Bone Collections in 4.0 are a godsend for organization :) Thanks again for this!
hi, why we require to make the center of gravity(COG), and just why? Any practical example or illustration for this like this COG bone help at some point to prevent animation breakdown or something else?
Can I get the order of parent hierarchy. Trying to follow your video on a phone is not doing me any favors. Considering I don't know most of the buttons you press that don't show up in the corner. Though when I make new bones they show up as individual armatures. That's why I need the order
Whenever I'm trying to add stretch to constraint, the upper stretch bone faces to inside of ball, and instead stretching and squashing the ball, the bone itself is stretching and squashing. Lol what do i do?
So I think it was happening because I was in Pose mode trying to parent. I switched to edit mode and while a much smaller menu did pop up it made sense for me to just hit 'enter' right after that. I kind of get where people say that it is presented too fast but it's nothing that going over a section of the video a few times and looking to see what mode you are working in to get the same result you did. It's been a massive help and I'm positive I figured it out. When in doubt rewind and look to see what mode he is in (Object, Pose, Edit) it will help a lot.
I want to scream... everytime i try to do it i always fail at something else... need to put 0.5 speed and i see that everyone seems to do it pretty quickly... i want to die srsly. Btw, in 10:40 is an example of why you shouldnt like rush the things... i know you are a pro and know how everything in blender works... but me as someone that im trying to learn i spend 1 hour in that specific area and still cant pass because dont know what you did there because there is too many hotkeys that you are using...

Hey I followed a part of your rigify series, is there a way to limit the angles of the rig? I used your tutorials to make an arm rig but the fingers can bend upwards. How can I fix that?
This is terrific, Luciano. Many thanks. Do you have any tips on how one might modify this to add a simple control to easily rotate the axis of stretching?

At 8:13, make sure to select the top bone first then the large middle bone before hitting Ctrl+Alt+C to apply 'Stretch to'.
I have a problem, with 3.5 this shortcut don't work, i tried add manually but same problem
For anyone who didn't know on how to change bone layer: go to pose mode and press m and to add a new bone in a layer go to edit mode and press shift A

The COG and Rotation won't have any relations? can't we use the rotation bone as COG itself?
its better to have them as separate options as it allows for more flexibility when animating.
