The issue with Christians and playing cards was that the face cards were mocking Jesus, Mary, and God the Father. It wasn't about the gambling, it was about the depictions on the cards themselves
I am listening to this on the evening of July 13. I asked Chatgpt about Trump being grazed by a bullet at a rally, and it kept telling me it was a conspiracy theory.
The standard deck of cards we have had in America in the last 150 years is/was part of the tarot. It was called "minor arcana" and accompanied what we know now as the tarot deck. It supposedly told a story when accompanied with the empress, the hermit, etc. That was probably not why your parents would not use a deck of cards but that was the original reasoning. Not only cards but many games of chance (gambling) started out as a form of divination. Not saying gambling or games using those items are right or wrong just that is the history.
When I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me…

Ok. "Though crimes". Never remember hearing that phrase until this past week when I started reading 1984. Educating myself.
This is a very timely episode for me, thank you. I wrote a romantic fantasy novel for the Bride of Christ about a struggling marriage that gets saved by grace. I'm also a homeschooling mom of four which pays in blessings, not cash, so I used AI and my own graphic design skills to create my cover art. (Original cover art prices are ASTRONOMICAL, y'all.) I thought my solution was wise as it was good stewardship of both my finances and my talents. But the secular authors of the Instagram had an absolute meltdown over it. They said I OWE it to artists to commission their work, which feels a little communisty to me? Still, I worried over it and even wondered if I should delay the release date. (Decided to ignore them and publish on August 2nd, as planned.) It's good to hear that other Christians I trust are carefully utilizing AI in the same way and for the glory of God.

I just want to make a comment on this guy talking about the free stuff he gets fromAi. there is nothing different than getting stuff from AI instead of getting stuff from a Christian creator, in comparison to AI taking jobs. AI is replacing man and the workforce, I've heard Christians like this man discuss this. How can you support and suggest having AI work for free for you, at the same time there are hundreds of Christians who try and support themselves by making shirts like he wears. I know it's a tedious thing to say. But, there's nothing different than ai replacing workers vs replacing Christian artist. Keep making excuses to make it more relevant.

You're making a valid point here which needs to be discussed a lot more by Christians. Taking care of our households, church members, etc. through a time of disruption in many people's employment is soon to be a hot topic in the church.
At the same time, you're wrong that having AI do something that a person could do is immoral. If we can save someone time and effort, that's a good thing. Don't do work the hard way if there's a better way. Let AI do useful work for us.
@@michaellautermilch9185 Creating art and music isn't a waste of time or effort, or something that AI should take over from us. Just pay creatives for their work. AI art isn't superior, it's just cheaper.

I said, there's nothing different from having to replace a Christian creator than ai replacing a person in the workforce..especially by someone who can afford to use a human christian creator. I know I will get flack for this, but you should read industrial society and it's future and come back to me on how we should allow it to work for us. Changes the essence of man. Forget who wrote it, that's a rabbit hole. Slowly but surely we are depending more on technology than on man. I'm just saying, a little at a time.. slowly withering away the need for humans. It always starts out slowly. Never did I say it was immoral, please don't put words in my mouth. I just don't think it is something to be celebrated. Joel, who I absolutely adore is always talking about "support this Christian group today" which most of the time it's not affordable to me, but I will always support something that helps out my fellow Christian regardless how cheap I could get it somewhere else. Just asking them to take a step back and think if this is something to be celebrated picking it over christian options. I'd never say someone is immoral for this. I don't think that it's my place to say if another christian is immoral, perhaps they just haven't considered it. Have a nice day!
