    My apologies🙏, i just realised i've skipped one new tooling of Revell for 2024:
    Ford Mustang Boss 351 in 1/25 scale
    So here's the complete list of Revell's new toolings:
    Chevrolet K5 Blazer 1/25
    Speeder Bike 1/12
    N-1 Starfighter 1/24
    F-35A 1/72
    F-15E Strike Eagle 1/72
    Gloster Meteor F.3 1/32
    Type IX C/40 U190 1/144
    Corvette C8 Coupé 1/25
    Lamborghini Revuelto 1/24
    Ford Mustang Boss 351 1/25
    So all in all ten new toolings which is actually not a bad number compared to other manufacturers, altough some were supposed to be released in 2023 and there are no propeller aircraft model kits included.

    I grew up with Revell been building them for 40+ years, great kits, never had a problem with them.

    Revell announced alot of stuff for 2023 that wasn't released so have added it to this year's catalogue.

      Lets see which of the 2023 releases get released in 2024, and which 2024 will be delayed till 2025...

    The kits which show as new and tooled in 2023 were probably going to be released by the end of 2023 but ended up being delayed.
    They show as new as they have not actually been released yet even though the tooling and production started last year.
    It happened with Airfix with kits announced for release last year which ended up delayed due to shipping issues. Many things have been delayed due to the current issues with shipping.
    As a side note I'm surprised they grouped the Star Trek kits with Aircraft.

      You are most probably right, but still this inconsistency of the release years is remarkable.
      They say Aircraft and the first thing you see is the Enterprise 😄

    The F-86D "Dog Sabre" in 1/48. I really like the front intake jet planes like the Sabre, Crusader, Corsair II since I was a kid in the 70's. Also the Stranger Things K5 since I like K5's and Stranger Things. Those are the sets that said hello.

      Also a great kit, which is unusual for Revell.

      Your talking great jets. I share the same sentiments. They did make some superb looking craft back in those days. I myself have a few variety of Jets mentioned. Thunderstreak , Supersaber, F-84 Thunderjet. Would be great to see the real things. I may have seen a 1/32 scale F-86 Dog Saber. I think.👍

    Love the Star Wars kits. I wander if the Biker Skout is new or re-release? Would like more of 1/48 scale and 1/32 scale.

    The golden years of mid 1990s revell is gone sadly , we have sad tired moulds with new decals and they have pushed the prices up .

    • @chrisveya7556

      I imagine with your long experience, they way they release new toolings, theres not much left to build really. I really like Revell from my childhood, but in a way its a shame.

    • @gavinblackburn3105
      @gavinblackburn3105 5 месяцев назад +2

      Yes they box a lot of icm so ICM get the excitement of the initial release, the revell reboxes used to be at lower price but they are now higher, the only excitement is the Meteor F.3 but that kit is going to be over £200 so i think i'll pass, it's just sad to see old monogram models at nearly £100 because they have put an eduard set in the box, Revell has lost their way .

    Scalemates take their dates from the official announcement (ie when the kit is announced, not released). There are OFTEN delays in the release of the kits announced for various reasons. Scalemates does not update the announcement date.

    • @chrisveya7556
      @chrisveya7556  5 месяцев назад

      Very true, i guess an indicator is that theres no data on these kits yet. And its also an indicator that a part of their 2024 new toolings are delayed 2023 releases.

    I stopped caring about Revell when I came back to the hobby. They clearly don't care that much about this part of the hobby market and just do the bare minimum. And this kind of mentality really hurts the hobby big time. Baiting in newcomers, thinking that they bagged a bargain at a store, when they got a Revell kit for the cheap with great box art, being greeted by plastic sprues their great grandfathers built as kids back in the day...
    No thank you.
    I miss their 1/72 armor lineup, the Stug and Panzer IV variants were great, but I bet I could find better ones with Dragon and others.
    The only old Western company I can praise is Airfix at this point. They at least have the decency to label the old stuff "Vintage" and the last couple of years, they made absolute banger kits with reasonable price range. (Yes, I am looking at you Italeri and your overpriced Macchi 202...)
    And if Revel wants to die on that hill, so be it. It was good when we were kids, but times are changing and if they aren't willing to keep up, we are going to leave them behind.

    • @chrisveya7556
      @chrisveya7556  5 месяцев назад

      Yes the Revell range can be a dangerous territory, sometimes its shocking how old some of their model kits really are. I dont really get the thinking behind it. Or they release a new kit with only one marking option. Others provide 5 marking options. And even if others will rebox the same kit it will come with another 5 marking options. At least this adds some value to it. A lot of it has been lost somehow it seems

      @@chrisveya7556 i think they are completely profit oriented. If one market doesn't make any money they wont concentrate on it. Which would be a shame as that can be a downward spiral. The more you cut corners, the less profits you will get.
      I can only hope that their "new" tooling will be a massive win and they are going clean their brand a bit of all the bad press, but I have the strange feeling that's not going to be the case.
      But we shall see. The U-Boat is something interesting.

    NEW for Revell is like NEW for Tamiya: NEW gullible modelers to buy insufferable old kits... But of less quality.
