I love the edit haha - so straight forward just talk over it. I appreciate the videos, it seems gratuitous for SF to be teaching basic stuff but it really puts an emphasis on mastery and use of basics at all levels, at least to me anyway. Cheers
i learned these knots back in boyscouts:) good knots never change! my personal favorite knot i use all the time is the two half hitch. works for everything (kinda). great video!
2:45 this is not a clove hitch, it's an overhand knot in an unusual configuration. Remove the piece of wood from within the knot and you'll get an overhand knot, instead of "nothing" if it was a clove hitch. With a clove hitch, the little "bridge" of rope crossing on top (looking like it's keeping both ends together) is oriented in the other direction, that's how you know this is wrong. Compare your knot with the drawing at 2:10 , not the same thing.
Failed to mention square knots only hold depending on the material..... square knots are great for poly, heavy grade nylon. Primarily best used in 3 strand. If your using sheithed Nylon or spectra your better using a carieck bend
@2:41 Ummm that's not a clove hitch SFC Carpenter. I would suggest deleting and reposting this video with the correct application of a clove hitch please
That "overhand knot" in my left ear made me jump.
700 billion dollar budget and my man couldn't afford two rope
solid video. great work focusing on tying angles as well as dressing angles for the knots. Excellent camera work. Straightforward and to the point.

Many soldiers have a challenging time learning to tie the knot, self including.

Please do a demonstration of that “SOF exclusive” sleeve one-roll/under roll that you have going on.
That’s a wizard sleeve, just tuck the sleeve up into itself.

The Canadian jam knot is also very useful
