    This is flatout dangerous, please do not suggest doing such dumb things. A machine that allows you to freehand move a piece a wood into a router without using a fence does not exist.

      I agree, and I urge the person that has posted this video to remove it before someone gets injured..!!!

      Disagree. Nothing as reliable and comforting as a router spinning away 😊

      Exactly. I don't even want to imagine what would happen if a beginner chose this as one of his first projects because it looks so easy and then used it to test out his new router.

    Far more dangerous than using a router table and fence. No depth stop, no end stops, no ability to properly control the workpiece.
    Don't even attempt to make this dangerous tool set-up

  • @quirkygreece

    What does that achieve that a normal router table wouldn’t? Apart from risking your fingers.

  • @patrickbuckley-o1h

    I do that in less time and much safer on my router table. try one.

    That first cut with the hole saw is dangerous! Holding the workpiece in one hand only is crazy! It should be firmly clamped down.

    I have a pantarouter that i made from matthias wandells plans. Love it. I liked this up to seeing him hold the parts.
    Id like a setup using a cross feed vice for a milling machine. Thus keeping all 10 fingers.

    This is a household accessory that is very practical for those who do not have a professional router. After all, any tool can cause accidents if not handled carefully and without using appropriate personal protective equipment. It is still a useful and economical idea.

    Excelente trabalho, Will! 😃

    In my lifetime of engineering this contraption is one of the most potentially dangerous. No fencing, No guarding, could easily progress to No Finger or worse. Think before you post as apart from the dangerous point of view, it is not accurate for any meaningful project.

    N'est-ce pas plus pratique avec une défonceuse sous table, plus stable et ayant des butées d’arrêt ?
    Wouldn't it be more practical to use an under-table router, which is more stable and has stops?

    Why is there an angled surface.... and why is the slot not on an angle in the wood? Why am i so confused by this ... 🥴crazy. If the slot is meant to be parallel to the wood piece edges, why the angled platform .. magic indeed.

    • @andrevandenheever6740
      @andrevandenheever6740 8 дней назад +1

      Also had to see it to understand it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 where the round bit meets the wood always stays the same distance away from the base.

    • @PartyOf8Please
      @PartyOf8Please 8 дней назад +1

      It is a neat optical illusion, right? Look closer.
      The goal is to cut a mortise in a block of wood. Because the cutter bit is stationary along the XY axis, and the table is stationary in the same plane, the only piece that moves (I am not counting the spinning rotation of the bit) is the block of wood, albeit in a rather unsafe way*. Because the bit can only touch the wood in one precise spot and the angle of the table never moves, there is only one place that the block of wood can be cut.
      *Holding the workpiece in this manner is unsafe because you do not have control of the wood

    Бедолага, как я не научился делать это раньше. Есть простой фрезерный стол.
