Endurance in our singing is about using the big muscles that support and provide airflow to our voices to take the weight off of the vocal fold. By keeping the airflow positive we reduce fatigue on the vocal folds and increase endurance as well as range and overall vocal flexibility/character.
This video also contains a short messa di voce exercise that I was given many years ago. By request!
That fading at the end .. so dramatic! Haha. Love it.
Coolest ending ever haha. Super dramatic.
Without any further ado at 0:36 😉 Thanks Jeff! 🐯

Thank you so much for these videos. I am in my first semester of classical singing technique and your lessons are so helpful.
These are wonderful exercises for the voice. I especially appreciate the varied videos for different types of workouts. Charlie (my cat) sits with me while I go through them. (I guess, not everyone is a critic!!)
Thank you for your gift of music and teaching.

Jeff
Quick question. Do you get the separation between notes of the same vowel from your breathing or third throat/mouth movement? or, both?
@@keithpevoto4123 if I'm understanding your question correctly then it is from your pharyngeal muscles, not from breath. On most phrases you want to take one big breath and keep the air moving outward through the entire phrase.
SO glad I found it THIS is SUCHA GOOD exercise video!!
2 years later - still coming back to this Jeff! I'm watching all of my saved videos from my playlist by your videos and making them into a list! Let me know if I should send this to you!
this is very helpful Thank you
was a nice exercise at the end, not sure if its because its morning but it was hard to keep the note from shifting registers when the airflow was really low. will try again later!

Hey Jeff, thank you for your consistent support!! I have just come across this video and work with many of your later warm up. Is there any chance you can re-introduce this in the baritenor range?
Absolutely. Will do!
Jeff
Thank you Maestro Rolka.
Where are you based out of?
Who do you recommend tenors listen to when it comes to Rossini, Mozart and Donizetti repertoire?
Francisco Araiza, Bruce Ford and Jerry Hadley

from some...too long..for others....not long enough...ehhh
do the baritone or alto depending on what you need
That was a cool fade out. LOL
Yeah, I was feeling dramatic that day...Nosferatu has nothing on me!
Jeff
Man this is the toughest yet. My lip trill keeps giving out. Do sit ups help with diaphragmatic stamina or am I only gonna get better from breathing exercises and lip trill? I'd like to improve as fast as I can
Sit ups probably won't make a huge difference, though the overall physical fitness you'd get might not go amiss! Take your time and come back to the lip trills if they're spluttering out on you. It does pay to note where they splutter out. If, for example, they always stop at the top of a scale but then restart as you descend, that's more an indication of a larynx that is rising as you rise in pitch. Work on that - the larynx movement - and the lip trill will remain constant.
Best,
Jeff
I struggled with the same thing
looove your teaching videos,Just wanted ask you Jeff,I'm a tenor, and I have a high Pitched voiceBut when I do the chest voice warm up I really get that raspy and Deep Jazz voice,So I dont know anymore If I should keep the Tenor vocals or the baritone exercises cuz I love to have that High pitched voice in headvoice but I feel more comfortable and natural In my chestvoice ..you would Help me alot if You Check out y Song LONELY in my channel And know What kind of voice I should keep working on , Thnks A lot For your Hard work,I keep sharing My fellow Singing Friends your vids
+Young Youssef Breezy Thank you for your kind words and thanks for watching and sharing! I really appreciate it!
Had a quick listen to 'Lonely.' Nice job but be careful of the notes in the middle of your phrases. There are occasional intonation discrepancies.
In terms of what you should work on, why choose? Studying one's voice is to learn to take advantage of all it has to offer. You like what you gain from the baritone exercises but also enjoy the higher range as well. Tailor your practice and warm ups to the repertoire that you are preparing to record/perform. If it requires upper register work, focus on that. If it predominantly stays in your thyro arytenoid dominant range (chest voice) then focus on that. If we serve the song, we'll almost always come out ahead.
I hope that helps.
Best,
Jeff
