I have the sapphire blue one and it’s beautiful. I have a similar black one as your other one but it has a vintage/work treatment. I like your version of the black one!!
I don’t think I’d manage the texture or smell of those cards, Robin! I quite like the black, but I think it would be more intriguing if they went full out for night skies or stormy skies - or both! Just black is a bit of a waste!
I ordered some decks from mpc and they have a chemical smell from the coating or lamination, as a former printer i recognise it. I leave them out of the box.Thank you for your walkthrou.
I definitely would be suspicious about a deck that smelled that bad. Have you thought about getting Florida water, mixing it with water, and spraying a rag (don't saturate, just dampen) and wiping down each card? I wouldn't put the cards back in the boxes. Leave out. Maybe include sage after wiping them down?
too bad the black and full color is sold out; a textured deck is interesting to me, but i'm unsure about slippery plastic and a bad smell ! i've had things which i'd ordered online have an overwhelming and sharp smell, and i think it comes from whatever ink they use in printing. your idea to air them out is a good one. although i wonder what the production must be like with all that plastic and ink ! but i like the concept as darker background brings the foreground into focus. it might be a nice deck to use the RWS for "shadow" work :) the green gold deck is VERY flashy ! and the deck box is a better deal than the basic plastic with the first one . i imagine it would be a nice deck to use for a party or somewhere with low lighting. i'd not heard of or seen textured cards like these before. thanks for the video

I like the black bg one though not a fan of the flashy one. My favorite RWS is a watercolor styled deck from Dark Forest on Etsy.

I like the first black one, never been keen on the Universal though, although the bluey green background looks nice.
