The Case IH 51 series transmission power shuttle pressure switches on these tractors can cause trouble causing it to drop out of gear and the orange warning light to come on . I tried fitting non genuine pressure switches but the oil leaked into the switches and even leaked out of the electric wires in the switch due to faulty seals in the non genuine switches and I ended up replacing all four power shuttle pressure switches with genuine switches. Case also did a training manual for this tractor which has information not included in the Case 5130/40/50 series workshop manual . These training manuals are not so easy to get as they were given to Case IH main dealer mechanics and not easy for independent mechanics to get hold of unless they can catch one secondhand on e-bay etc
It is a 5140. We did it get back together and it worked liked it’s suppose too. The hydraulic pump had to be replaced once we got it together. Just don’t forget your cooling tubes in the rear axle when you put it back together (not that anyone would forget that)
We have a 5250 with 5,500 original hours, but the hydraulic fluid has never been changed. During the winter the tractor has no forward or reverse, but during the summer the tractor works perfect. I am hoping that there is just sludge in the bottom of the case around the suction screen. This fall I plan to change the hyd. fluid and hyd. filter and clean the suction screen. Hopefully that fixes it.
Like you mentioned, one of the few vids on this tractor. At the nursery I work at we have a 5130 from 1990 with 9600+ hours. I am currently researching the clutch as it feels like very little engagement is happening. I don't have a shop manual for this tractor but am trying to determine if I will jave the time to either split or send off for repair. It will only creep along in 1st range and then will come to a stop if rpm is taken up quickly. Feels like the clutch is gone unfortunately. I am not finding much luck for clutch cable adjustment either! Thanks for making the vid! Ric
The brake split is right in front of the rear axle. The power shift packs are right behind the engine. But it sounds like it is your shuttle pack which is the same split as the emergency brake
Hello, i have a 5150 with broken pinion shaft , how did you test that bearing preload of the pinion shaft and the crown wheel is correct and as well as Backlash ? Did you have the special bearing cone CAS2024 that slides on the shaft easily to set pinion shaft bearing preload? Thanks for you r answer and have a good day.
Greetings from Romania! Can you tell me please the code for the 3 identical shuttle valves under the cab,on top of the differential? My 5140 won t go into gear after about 2 acres of ploughing ... Thanks in advance!
I HAVE NEVER WORKED ON A TRANSMISSION ON ONE BUT I HAVE A 5130 SLIPPING IN FORWARD ONLY ,IN ALL 1 2 3 4 GEARS . DO I SPLIT IT AT DIFF TO DO HANDBRAKE AS THIS IS BAD , AND THEN AT FRONT TO DO THE FORWARD PACK ? THANKS ! I AM A JD MECHANIC , LIVING IN ENGLAND THANKS
Video is fine if one knows about how these work but for a noticed its like being at school when the teacher did mathematics while standing directly in front of the calculations so nobody could view them. A tip would be to get a light rod and actually point out the area and component you are actually referring to and take your time, otherwise very interesting.

How hard is it to pull the rear PTO on a Case IH 5220?
The rear unit is really heavy. There are a couple of bolts on top that are a pain to get out. But it’s doable
@@johnp9487 Started on it this afternoon!
