The more Dina Wakley videos I watch all I can say is that your style is explosive! Thanks so much for showcasing that it's ok to be a happy, intentional, practicing artist. Thanks.
This tut was AWESOME!! I have been wanting to learn how to draw faces for a while now. And, your video was easy to follow and I especially truly appreciate that you explained is a very simple manner how and why each part of the face is drawn. Just FAB JOB!! Sooo inspired!! Thank you so much!! Taylor:)
Dina, you have no idea how much confidence you gave me with this video! I never took art classes except for a textiles class in high school & photography in college. I never thought I could ever draw anything, especially a face! I could scrapbook my photos, and just started some mixed media stuff. But until I saw your videos, I would never even attempted to draw a face! But tonight I watched it again and actually drew a fairly decent job! I still need to practice, but I'm so amazed! Thank you for making it so easy and fun!
I watched this day before yesterday, and posted how delighted I was. Today I painted a face and had success. I then showed my friend the new one, and she saw it was different, but now why. I showed her two other older ones so she could see the difference. The older ones looked good, but when put next to the newest it was amazing the difference. Thank you again. You made my day and shifted the quality of my painting.
Hello Dina, I have attended classes and read /watched dozens of books & videos on how to draw a face, and I can honestly say I think yours is the best. I don't know exactly what it is that makes it such a standout, though I think some of it has to do with the way you talk about your reference points so kinesthetically. Even though I make them look right, sometimes I fall back on an old habit of "straight mouth" which I then have to work away from, taking extra time messing with paint/drawing. I don't think that will happen now I have seen how you start your mouth. Most teachers put a line, then work it. You have your reference lines, but then start your mouth with the crescent. Thank you. I will not longer have that mental mess. And since I paint a LOT of faces in both my art journals and for hanging, this is going to help. Funny thing, those little tricks that can change a career of habit. Blessings to you on your wonderful career and all of the hard work you are putting in. I am sorry I will miss you in Redmond, WA later this month.
Well, finally all the absolutely pertinent points. All of them, so we may have success! No fast forward here ya go, no just sort of make it like that. Thank you for the facts. Where the neck is, where the mouth stops, where the eyebrows are. I can't thank you enough for THE perfect tutorial.
Thank you for these videos, Dina. Your great teaching style and the simple way you break down all the steps and details is fantastic. You are just so professional. I´ve really enjoyed and learned from these.
Oh thank you so much for your explanation. I love it, I draw my first face today and I will do tomorrow. Love love love. I will put it in my art journal certainly.
I've looked at sooooo many face drawing videos but for me, this one has been the BEST ONE by far! I may actually be able to make a decent face now! Thanx so much.
Wow Dina that was a great tutorial!! I am terrified of drawing faces I am more of a nature artist but this is one of the best and simplistic techniques I have ever seen Thank you soooooo much I can’t wait to try it myself along with you !!!! And PS love your products too ❤️New fan of your videos here !
I took your classes in Salem Oregon in August. I have been having so much fun since then. Saw this video as a small refresher. I am working on the eyes. I make less serial killer girls now!! Thanks so much for sharing your great talents.
Absolutely Great...i have never drawn a face the looks like a face until today after watching this video and following these awesome tutorial...broken down for lay people like me...i followed step by step and loved the result...
Thank you so much Dinah! Your tutorial has definitely simplified this technique of drawing faces. I have drawn faces before but they look more like caricatures lol 😄 your video is the best by far! Some tutorials are far too advanced and quite intimidating tbh. I have saved this tutorial to playlist so I can watch it again as a resource/ refresher ❤
I never could draw a face with out cringing.. after watching this and trying for a few days I think I got the hang of it. if I could I would post a pic of mine. Thank you, Dina!!!

Hi there, I found you. Mike talks lots about you. I came to see, i am so glad i found you. I cant draw either but you have really given me the inspiration to try. Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial. In the words of a childrens tv character.... "I know what i am going to do today". xox
This was thee most informative of creating a face! I've watched so many tutorials but still came out with horrible proportions! Thank you so much for this. I've just ordered one of your media journals and can't wait to use this in it.
Thank you for sharing this, yes i am just watching this, i am new to your art...faces scare me, you make this look easy enough. Will be watching this seversl more times....
Please, for the love of Pete, caption these videos!! I am profoundly deaf and rely totally on captions to understand what is being said. Especially when the majority of the video is on the artwork and not on the artist's face (seeing the face is essential for lipreading!). In this day and age, there's no excuse for videos not being captioned. Having said that, I enjoyed the drawing and could follow it a bit from the demonstration. But, captions would provide a great deal more information. Thank you!!
Christmas message to Dina Wakley.
Bjarki Þór Pálsson absolutely loves your method and style - Love from the top of the world Iceland
You are a great teacher. You simplified this process better than anyone. Thanks
