College was a LOT cheaper and so was your average home. The American dream was a little more obtainable and people were more optimistic and less divided, overall. Reagan, although FAR from perfect, at least welcomed immigrants, never made fun of the handicapped, or called women pigs, and at least acted presidential. The wall in Germany came down and the Cold War finally ended. There were no MAGA chuds and we didn't live in a surveillance state, where your phone, computer and TV were spying on you. Radio, TV and newspapers were more independent and diverse, and not all owned by 3 companies. The 80's weren't perfect, but compared to right now, vastly superior. There's hope, though, and I think with a lot of effort, we could see far better days. All the best to you.
