  • We've gone over how A2RL's autonomous cars work (if you haven't seen our previous video, check it out below), but what happened when the cars finally hit the track to race? From 8 cars running in qualifying, to racing against ex-F1 driver Daniil Kyvat, to the final 4-car race, the cars were certainly put through their paces. We sent Alex Goy to Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina to see just how A2RL's autonomous cars got on at their first major event.

      Ya, seeing you guys talk about this race so glowingly and enthusiastically is cringe, especially after that unwatchable disaster of a first race. There is no way that you guys aren't being compensated for these videos, or you are contractually obligated to due to some agreement.

    What happened to roborace??

    Is the Code 19 team name meant to be a play on words of COVID 19? Interesting choice if so…
    Frankly I’ll take anything better than Roborace when it comes to autonomous racing series: No irrelevant cartoon CGI “Metaverse” obstacles, and no long cutaways of engineers eating pizza. So glad to see A2RL has at least been marketed coherently and that they’re not afraid to have things go wrong. We’ll see what becomes of it; easy to mock but you can’t deny the road relevancy.

    I still cant believe they gave AI better cars than F1 academy. I love the idea, but why dont they swap cars?

    • @Fpvpilot928
      @Fpvpilot928 Месяц назад +1

      One chassis costs about 10 times the other chassis. Another factor is you want a progression of speed through the ranks, putting new drivers straight into super formula cars would be a recipe for an expensive disaster. And yes, the autonomous race was an expensive disaster, but the costs were covered entirely by the Emirates.

    It's undercooked is what it is. When it comes to a public spectacle like motorsports, first impressions are a big deal - that doesn't exactly mesh well with a scientific iterative process. So you can't afford to rush things. Putting a half-baked product out there with all of these technical glitches just leaves the whole endeavor looking a bit ridiculous to the viewing public. That's not going to help the perception of autonomous racing going forward.

    Formula student teams have been making fast autonomous racecars for years now, the fact that some of these A2RL teams cant even complete a lap is quite embarrassing.

    This is such a gross racing series. It purely exists to let the UAE to gain more control over the racing culture. All the talks about how "Only a place like UAE could afford to do this" Yeah that's cause slave labour is commonplace in the UAE. Africans and asians come in for a labour job, and their passport gets thrown away at the border. Unbelievable that this is being supported by the Racing scene
