  • How do I record from HDMI source?
In this video I wanted to find a way of being able to record video content from a ROKU 3 and a Chromecast to a Blackmagic Video Assist recorder with no HDCP Errors in 1080p resolution.Note this wont work for 4K
My goal is to use the Roku3 to display video that is cast to it from an Android camera to connect to a vision mixer but the HDCP stops me from doing that.
In this video I use an inexpensive 1 in 2 out splitter from Amazon, which DOES strip / bypass the HDCP content from the HDMI source. Perfect.
Musou HDMI Splitter, 1 In 2 Out, 2-Port Signal Amplifier 2 Way Switch, Supports 3D Full HD 1080P HDCP, HDMI 1.3b Version, Black
    Hope it helps someone else.
Excuse the big Mic, its all I had with me the evening i filmed this. If you find it annoying, obtrusive or offensive than please bear with me, No need for any comments, thanks. I
Please Like and subscribe if you enjoyed the video.
    Thanks! Andy

I had the same problem trying to plug the chromecast into an isdbt rf modulator to split the chromecast hd video to 3 tv's in my house, i lost money on edid feeder, and now i will lose with this splitter. It's all because of the big corporation bitterness. Great video, best regards from Brazil!

Thanks so much for this. I needed a way to send Chromecast through a Blackmagic UltraStudio Recorder into my MacBook. I sometimes stream a trivia quiz during lockdown and it runs off an Android app sending to Chromecast. I had a simple MT-UHV30 capture card I'd borrowed but wanted one with SDI in too, for my remote teleprompting work.
The UltraStudio worked fine on the SDI side but wasn't seeing Chromecast through HDMI.
Then I saw this video. I recently bought this unit (www.amazon.com.au/Port-Splitter-Support-Input-Output/dp/B0797L8Z28) for another project and wondered if it would do the same as your Musou unit. It didn't say 1.3b but did say HDCP 1.4 compliant.
    And it works. :-)
    So thanks again.

I just see your video. Very nice and informative. Just what i was looking for. It would have been very funny if you had a shutdown/blackscreen at minute 7:00 when you disconect the powerplug ;-)

Very nice ! I tried with 2 separate splitter and I can only get sound, no images. Behid the splitter I don't have a monitor but an acquisition card, maybe that's it

Companies cannot legally advertise their products as "hdcp strippers". There was a court case that ruled it would be illegal. Also, wouldn't a headset with a microphone be much more practical? Thanks for the video, but it looks so difficult to do what you're doing, while holding a microphone.
