I transferred to the Tridentine Mass. The experience is exactly what I was hoping it to be, very Catholic! Having said that, St. John Cantius in Chicago celebrates the Ordinary Form in Latin and Ad Orientem. It's actually quite refreshing to watch the Ordinary Form celebrated in such a reverent manner, the way it's supposed to be.
I might be spoiled, coming from a very small Novos Ordo parish, but we've always done things very reverently. In fact, that's true of nearly every other NO parish I've ever visited. There may be one or two in my entire 30+ years of existence that hasn't upheld the tradition in a wholesome way. Is this whole debate focused around the way things are done in the big cities, or what? I'm befuddled by this whole argument, frankly. The vernacular allows the laity to understand exactly what's being said and to thus reflect upon it in a much deeper way. I'm not putting down the Traditional Latin Mass, by the way. I've never been to one, but I'd really love to go sometime. Nonetheless, I do see why it would be suppressed, unfortunately, because so many rad-trads have to go online and ruin it for the rest of the faithful. Are there really that many charismatic Prot wannabes out there in Vatican II land? If so, then you should really level your critiques pointedly at them, rather than being so falsely pious about it. Mind you, I'm *speaking generally* here, based on what I've encountered. I am certainly *not accusing you* or anyone here of behaving in that manner... yet, lol. God bless.
My Baptist friend once said "if what you say is true and Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist and if I was Catholic, I'd attend Mass EVERY DAY, no excuses. I would have to be literally dead before not attending daily Mass and even then at least my corpse would be present." She said she would attend every Adoration Hour too. Different perspective.
The bells! I love it so much. As a Baptist when we did the “Lord’s supper” every so often I always heard ringing in my ears. Every time. Never knew people believed you were ACTUALLY receiving Christ. When I learned that then I went to Mass and heard the bells I knew exactly why I always heard that ringing in my ears. It was calling me to the Sacrament.
When I approach for the reception of the Eucharist, if I'm not sure what to pray for or think about, I always just invoke the Divine Mercy and say in my mind "Jesus, I trust in you" over and over again until I've received Him. It reminds me of the reality of the true presence and it's just a simple statement of faith. Then, when I get back in the pew, I kneel silently and let him speak to my heart, especially since He's physically so close to my heart at that point.
Once I began really PRAYING the mass and LISTENING to God speak to me through the readings, psalms, and Gospel, I got more out of mass. Put my all into listening and praying and God changes the water into wine, i.e., God changes the heart and bends it to His will and we all know He loves delicious wine. Only the best!
46:37 I was thinking "Anima Christi... Anima Christi..." Just then, Ryan said it "THE ANIMA CHRISTI." It was like an echo! 😂 Truly, a man after my own heart. I love the mental connection of the walk-up to Calvary as well. I'll have to start incorporating that, too.
I started going to daily Mass after Covid. Best experience of my life. It has been 3 intense weeks. My sins decreased drastically. I also stated confessing every week and it’s just like you said Padre, I feel renewed and fresh to receive Our Lord. Thanks for the great show!
Guys, this is so good, pierced my heart with important truths and so strongly encouraged me. It helped me to know I’m not the only one whose brain is all over the place during Mass! 43:08 and can start skipping down rabbit trails. Well done!
I just wanna say I love your guys show. You definitely break the societal perception of Catholicism, and that's really cool to see as someone new to faith:)
So many great points. I am fortunate enough to be able to go to daily mass too. I LOVE IT!!! It has been 6 months of going everyday and it has transformed my life. Praise the Lord he has saved this wretched soul. 💗
A guy once told me that nowhere in the Bible does it say to dress up for church -- I asked him "If you had to go to court and stand before a judge who held your fate in his hands, would you show up in jeans & a t-shirt?"
All are welcome regardless of dress...yes even a homeless person who hasn't washed for a week and dressed in rags. If you can wear clean clothes, do so but don't get hung up on what other people wear.
cocolocooz - Yes we understand that all are welcome but 95% of us can come to Church wearing some nice clothes. The point is reverence and respect for almighty God. This has been lost since the Vatican Ii debacle when the hippies/communists/leftists took over the Church and our entire culture! America as a society has lost all respect for itself and in my humble opinion is a huge driver of the decline of culture in the western world. If we want better of ourselves and our children and the world it starts on how we present ourselves. Our culture will never improve unless we demand better of ourselves and that begins with how we dress and speak.
Well said! I’m publishing a weekly RUclips video on episodes from the life of Don Bosco, entitled ST JOHN BOSCO by JOE ZAMMIT. In this series I’m narrating events and miracles from the splendid life of Don Bosco. St John Bosco used to perform a miracle almost every day, through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. From the lives of saints we can learn how to love God more and draw closer to him. Thank you.....
OH WOW YOU GUYS! so I appreciate this talk show so much Bc I’m still waiting for a church to get back to me to help me convert to Catholicism. I know it’s hard right now Bc of the times that we are going though. So this talk show just keeps me so grounded in my path to our Father. There is no mass where I’m at. So THANK YOU 🙏🏼 . Especially for introducing the Hallow app. I have been using this for a few days now and it’s such a great way to connect with God. I also realized that Father Mike from Ascension Presents is on that app! & that is another RUclips channel I follow to help me until I can convert, I found such a wow factor that this talk show and the app and Father Mike we’re connected to everything I’ve been looking to to grow closer to God. So yeah that’s my excitement. And a thanks to all of you ❤️
I love the Idea of attending the Latin Mass but then when you do attend it, I don’t understand what is being said at the same time unlike the Traditional Mass today 😕
Watching this episode now that I've been baptized and confirmed in the church. This ministry that you three have has been of tremendous help to me during my conversion process! I pray that God continues to bless you all and that you continue to make such wonderful content for years to come! Thank you and peace be with you! ❤
Thank you guys! Very enlightening! I was absent at church for many years but felt the spirit early in 2021. I participated in online Mass until June (thanks Father Mike! 😁) I've been back to church for awhile and this podcast has given me lots to think about. I will be approaching Mass hopefully in a more joyful way. God's blessings to you! 🙏
I know is been almost a year for this episode BUT wow is was amazing! I just started catching up with all your videos since I found you 3 months ago; what started as oh ok, it is amazing to see how much the show has grown. The topics just keeps getting better and this one made my day since mass is a real celebration in my life! Thank you for all the work that you are putting in, it shows!
After we say “Thanks be to God”. We All. YELL. SPEAK LOUDLY.? “CHRIST has no hands or feet on earth but mine. Hallelujah!!!!!!” It just lights up the church. All are smiling
I would love an episode on devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate heart of Mary. Also, an episode on the differences between the translations of Douay Rheims and the NAB(RE). I hear people talking about "modernism" creeping into the NAB. what are some examples of that?
I love Hallow for hearing the readings. I have a very hard time reading and fully comprehending what I just read, so hearing it and having a chance to sit back and meditate on what I just heard is invaluable to me. It takes some of the frustration out of the reading in Mass and it helps me take away so much more because I already dove into what I just heard.
The dressing for Mass is important to me. Always, wear the best you can. I may go over the top for Christmas, but it is Jesus’ birthday party, right. Personally I like to get to Mass an hour early so, I can get in my Adoration in, plus like you all said, the quiet helps me to prepare. And my thing is (and I get a lot of strange looks) when the homily starts, I pull out my Mass journal and write as much as I can about what the Priest is saying. I have gotten into this habit because of listening to Fr. Mike Schmitz, 😁 he makes me feel as though I have homework to do so, I don’t want to miss what he has to say and this way I can do my homework later in the day. This one really helps with drowning out babies crying, people coughing, etc. I just concentrate on the word. Thanks, for your amazing channel and keep up the good works.
I like how you discussed that in the world we get dirty, like when going out side, confession helps to get you clean again. It's a way I can explain to my son & help him grow. That's simple & helps when talking with my non catholic Christian friends too.
I’d like to comment before I listen to this episode in particular. So many years of dedicated priests who have learned English to celebrate mass in the church in which I attend, have unfortunately left me feeling frustrated. Due to strong accents, I can’t understand much of what they are saying, so my mind wanders during the homily! I feel terrible! I live in So California but attend a very small church in southern most Fresno diocese , twenty-five minutes away. This particular parish has suffered from the lack of priests in a most dire way for decades. I so very much want to hear and be enriched and inspired by the homily, but often come away feeling “empty-handed”.
A Catholic Mass is like being invited to The Last Supper with Jesus & His apostles. Jesus said the first Mass & told them to continue it until He returns. When the Priest blesses the bread & wine, they transform into The Body & Blood of Jesus Christ; this is The Transubstantiation & only occurs in a Catholic or Orthodox Mass. Receiving Jesus in Holy Communion is the most beautiful, powerful & intimate union we can have with Him while on earth. We truly become one with Him. 1Cor11:23-29,Jn 6:51-59
Wonderful show guys. Coronavirus has ensured that we can't attend Mass but we can still prepare for it in the same way. My parish has 4 Masses in the morning and 1 in the evening, so it can be hectic trying to get a few minutes after Mass to linger with Christ. I have always loved the imagery of the Eucharistic Prayer 1 where it says 'we pray that your angel may take this sacrifice to your altar in heaven'. To imagine that there are hosts of angels around the altar has always brought me awe and comfort. Truly, we need the Mass. God bless you guys.
Silence before Mass, I wish. The talk and socialization is way too much. Does one need to discuss the ShopRite circular before Mass? Noooo. I am not the best, but I am in the church early for a reason. Thank you Evelyn
@@taraelizabethdensley9475 Then you are allowed to eat something in order to take your medicine. Since I wrote my comment 3 years ago I am now on a med that I have to take with food, so I try to take it 1 hour before receiving the Eucharist (that's about 30 minutes after Mass starts). A full meal isn't always necessary, usually some crackers, a muffin, or toast, then take the pills with some milk, will work fine. But even if you take it right before Mass, it's okay for medical reasons.
My grandsons look the Mass at their church in Connecticut that hasn’t any music a 15 -20 minute homily The music and the 1/2 homily wasn’t what they could relate to. They hardly ever went to mass until this Mass became known to them. They call this the quiet Mass no music I’m all for this if it gets them to Mass
As someone in RCIA, would I be fasting for the service & homily? Because I can't have the Eucharist yet. It crossed my mind to walk out because it hurts that I can't participate. I'm not worthy, so why suffer? Also, confessions don't grant me absolution.
I don’t even think there’s any churches here are open in New York yet and on top of that I am trying to work my way back I pray to God all the time and I ask him to forgive and I am hoping to go back
St. John Vianney quote was referring to the Mass of the Ages, not the Novus Ordo that is celebrated in most parishes. The Novus Ordo is chock full of distractions.
All masses done as they should be are valid masses. When something is "different" it attracts people sometimes for a while, they feel renewed. Another language, another priest, kneelers, different music, more people, less people, it varies by each person. Scott Hahn had a point when he said the "Latin" group that is new, would they feel the same way if brought up with it and stuck with it? Good chance, no. I think we need reminders since Catholic mass is repeating certain parts weekly, what and why you are saying it. In confession once a priest said say the Our Father slowly, really listen and hear the words, it gets to be just a prayer when repeated often without thought. He had a point too.
What I do Mass I don't go to mass motionless . I've listened to the priest What he is saying In his sermon . I never one time to priest was talking about the sermon on the mount And I really enjoy that Sermon On the beatitutes.
The quiet factor at church...sigh...I have arrived to daily mass well before mass only to encounter people in a group saying prayers out loud I was not familiar with. I tried to pray on my own anyway and found it distracting. Same with daily mass that has ended- a group of people praying a prayer I'd never heard of when I had the intent of quiet prayer. I dont like that quiet prayer feels like it has to be at home. Theres a solemnity that's missing. I will try sitting up front. That might be less distracting
It would be nice if women still veiled! When I attend a Latin mass..something about putting on the veil prepares me! Veiling at the Novus ordo mass makes you standout like sore thumb..and I wish it wasn't that way!
Women were required to cover their hair prior to Mass before 1960 then the rules changed as is so often the case in Catholicism. They should take a page from the Muslims and stop loosening and changing things. IMO
YES! Thank you for speaking on dressing up! When you dress up, it tells your body and mind something important is going on! Something sacred is going on! Yes and amen! Than you for speaking on this topic! More and more, we are not dressing up for mass. We need to increase our reverence. THANK YOU
this is kinda off the subject but if i start the rosary and have to leave partially through it can i come back and pick up where i left off and finish or is it better to start over
I used to think it wholly communion was a symbol and I didn't know it was actually jesus christ body and Blood . I show very reverence since I know that now . And I didn't know where it came up with that thinking it was a symbol, but now I know better. And I have learned so much from Father Mike . He's a one that convertibly did the Catholic church .to come back, I fell away . I did all my confessions. I go to mass every young sunday and every holy day.i take the holy communion .I am grateful I made it back to the Catholic church.
Wonderful show. Very informative. Father Pagano I still need to know. I have done my first communion at the age of 21 (now 52). Did I also do my confirmation? My parish priest (now deceased) did not turn in any paperwork so as far as my local church and diocese was concerned it didn't happen. This came from secretaries. Do I take catechism classes again? Will I be allowed to marry in the church?
My suggestions on how to prepare for the weekly Mass are: Be respectful of your Priest. He does not sit around all week twiddling his thumbs waiting for the next Sunday to come. He has his daily Mass; confession, CCD, Pastoring to others, weddings, christenings, and funerals, and he has to prepare for the next Mass. Your Priest takes care to be succinct, so, you should do the same. Make sure that your Priest has some congregants to call in an emergency. Make sure that your Priest is having a sufficient holiday meal. Go to church clean and well slept. Get to Mass on time. I'm sorry, but, I do not believe in fasting, the bacteria in your body need something to eat besides your body. I'm sorry, but I do not believe in tithing. You should give what you are able to give. If you cannot afford to give, we do not want you to not attend Mass because of it. Lastly, I don't know what Church you attend, but, what you describe wouldn't be tolerated up here.
You should be facing the Priest as he proclaims the Gospel. He is there to teach with authority, as Jesus did in the synagogue, and he is beginning his part as the persona Christi.
Fr Rich you should tell the people who don't get anything out of the homily's to write there own homily's before coming to mass and compare, either way you win cause they can learn to digest the Gospel and understand the homily more and if their homily turns out better then yours you can learn from them haha
Hi guys! Listen, I've got the whole family going to Mass now!, Could somebody please pull out the wood out in my extended families EYES!? Nothing is good enough for them!!!
Sermons are reduced to minutes of irrelevant babbling sometimes. It's become a noontime show in the name of "Mass appeal". I could sit an hour if the preaching was good and made sense of Scripture and explained the reason for whatever Mass it is for. One time there was a priest who only mentioned the Marian feast we were celebrating in passing at the very end of his sermon. I was thinking, "why did you not preach to us on why we're here for worship? What has this event to do with our spiritual and daily lives? Why do we even believe in this thing in the first place?"
Is it too much to have the kids leave the video games in the car? It's distracting enough that they are walking cross the pews or cling to the moms, but they also color pictures of secular things.

I never receive the Holy Eucharist unless I've confessed the day of or the evening before.

I love St. John!!! The atmosphere is awesome, and the Mass is reverent and beautiful.
I wish the New Rite was done like that. As in, the way the Council actually intended.

She has a very good point, though!
I’m praying for him to convert
They’d make An amazing Catholic that’s exactly how we feel. I feel like I’m dead when I miss Mass and it makes me pray harder until the next mass.
Good protestants become Good catholics. Bad catholics become protestant.

The two things that drive me crazy are people talking before Mass starts and people who walk in after Mass has started!
I agree on talking, you should come in time for mass but if you're late you should still enter. Being there is still worth a lot, even if you are late

Now, Hear the Traditional Latin Mass
Traditional Latin Mass period!
Nah
If not for Novus Ordo I probably wouldn’t be a Catholic convert.
@@GratiaPrima_ The novus ordo is a start but it's technically not the authentic true Mass . It was but together by a rogue Bishop that was a Freemason
You guys are awesome. Thank you.
I always taught my children to be quiet, no talking and not turn around when people were entering the church

Great show guys! I will DEFINITELY employ some of these techniques. God bless and ciao!
Ryan D., get your sons a special “Mass only” outfit.
I will have a cup of coffee to wake up before Mass and also to take my medicine, but don't eat till afterwards.
What about people who have to take medication with or after food?
@@taraelizabethdensley9475 Then you are allowed to eat something in order to take your medicine. Since I wrote my comment 3 years ago I am now on a med that I have to take with food, so I try to take it 1 hour before receiving the Eucharist (that's about 30 minutes after Mass starts). A full meal isn't always necessary, usually some crackers, a muffin, or toast, then take the pills with some milk, will work fine. But even if you take it right before Mass, it's okay for medical reasons.
Very good job
When I go to mass it's not only sundays. I also go on the holy Days . For example Like a good friday Easter sunday Virgin mary's assemption.
I went to confession on a werkday morning. Six people had to be turned away because there wasnt enough time
My grandsons look the Mass at their church in Connecticut that hasn’t any music a 15 -20 minute homily
The music and the 1/2 homily wasn’t what they could relate to. They hardly ever went to mass until this Mass became known to them. They call this the quiet Mass no music I’m all for this if it gets them to Mass
😮
THANK YOU
👍
Agreed Its called RESPECT....
No Latin masses locally for me...very sad
this is kinda off the subject but if i start the rosary and have to leave partially through it can i come back and pick up where i left off and finish or is it better to start over
Another great conversation! And, I love the bells to. The Catholic mass is reverent. Thank you to all of you, again!
Reminder is set! :D
"I don't get anything out of Mass" - you go to Mass to worship God, not to "get something"!!
When did the things I do? When I'm in mass? I'm hatchi listening to the priest on his message that he gives.. And I could take of the Holy communion.
And are we free to worship with the same Mass that inspired St John Vianney?
Wonderful show. Very informative. Father Pagano I still need to know. I have done my first communion at the age of 21 (now 52). Did I also do my confirmation? My parish priest (now deceased) did not turn in any paperwork so as far as my local church and diocese was concerned it didn't happen. This came from secretaries. Do I take catechism classes again? Will I be allowed to marry in the church?
It has been 15 weeks since I have been allowed to attend mass or receive communion. I am beginning to fear I will never be allowed to return.
My suggestions on how to prepare for the weekly Mass are:
Be respectful of your Priest.
Where can I find the commentary from St Louis university?
You should be facing the Priest as he proclaims the Gospel. He is there to teach with authority, as Jesus did in the synagogue, and he is beginning his part as the persona Christi.
After we bless ourselves, we dip our hand in the holy water again and let drops fall down…fo the people in hell
Fr Rich you should tell the people who don't get anything out of the homily's to write there own homily's before coming to mass and compare, either way you win cause they can learn to digest the Gospel and understand the homily more and if their homily turns out better then yours you can learn from them haha
My priest is from another country and I don’t understand him.
If your favourite part of the Mass is ' Go the Mass is ended', you shouldn't be there.😃😂😄😷🙏
Have you heard about the threats. They wanna tear down images of Jesus saints Mary. It's madness
Nice thumbnail picc
What you should get out of mass. Don't eat breakfast before coming to mass choose a Because. He will be taking of the holy communion..
Hi guys! Listen, I've got the whole family going to Mass now!, Could somebody please pull out the wood out in my extended families EYES!? Nothing is good enough for them!!!
So many people are leaving the church
I like Brooks Agnew on youtube as well.
Hapus iklan yang tidak pernah saya ijinkan.
Is it too much to have the kids leave the video games in the car? It's distracting enough that they are walking cross the pews or cling to the moms, but they also color pictures of secular things.
"Confiteor, is that the Lord have mercy?"
I cringed. not gonna lie.
When was that
