Great video! I have a remo frame drum with very slick sides. To the point, that even with light strokes my thumb slides off. Any suggestions for helping it stay in place on that slick surface? Thank you in advance ~

how do you tune a frame drum ?
What kind of leather is this ?
I live in Brazil. Please tell me how much such an instrument costs. The sound is wonderful.
I have no idea what they cost in Brazil... I am sure there are many frame drums available there!
Isn't another name for a frame drum called a BORAN. I think it might be Irish or a Scottish name?
Bodhran 🤍
It’s spelt bodhràn
It’s used in Irish music
Frame drums and their use in ceremony goes back long before written history in usage by druids and bards
However since the 60/70s and the Celtic renaissance revival it is become a staple in musical line ups
However one or two things to note
The bodhran often has a bar or x bar to hold onto on the back of the drum
So the drum can be pushed into the chest to create muting
It’s often
But not always played with a stick (or as they are known tipper)
And the bodhran is played being held in a side profile to the body
Instead of front on
Like this lady is demostraing
Also
The bendir frame drum usually has snare rope attached to the underside of the skin
And the def/daff/daf drum has circle chimes secured to the inside of the frame to create added sympathetic tonality’s
Bowran is how it is said though
You need a daff frame drums are not this style
