    Thanks, Chris. It's been more than a year that I left England and came to Chile, where I have started shooting film. Seeing your video brought me back to many weekends I took the train from Manchester Piccadilly to Liverpool, spending the day shooting with my fuji xt1. I remember it impressed me how the city managed to preseve the majesty of its buildings in a way that Manchester could not. I never understood why until I read a great essay of a writter whose last name is Sebald, I think it comes in a book called The emigrants. Cities with character both, fond memories.

      Thanks Pablo, I was certainly very impressed by the city and it left a real impression on me. I have been to Manchester a few times, but haven't had a proper day of exploring. Chile must offer lots of great sights for photography - a different feel to the north of England I guess. Thanks for recommending the article too, it sounds interesting.

    Very evocative images Chris - I spent a lot of time photographing around the Pier Head pre-Covid as the light is fantastic down there in the late afternoons, gorgeous, strong light reflecting off the sea. Looking forward to seeing the Don McCullin exhibition too. I'd never have thought to try Ilford 3200 though, I always imagined it'd be too sensitive for late-afternoon photos without a filter but I guess not!

      Thank you Mark, you're right about the light there - it's wonderful in the evening. I did one have lots of overexposed daylight shots with 3200, but it was mostly gloomy enough that day for it to be OK 🙂

    Wonderful video, as always. I take pictures of people, and rarely architecture or cityscapes. Your videos are inspiring me to branch out

      Hi Joshua, thank you very much. I've definitely always thought of myself as a people photographer, but I love a nice interesting building in black and white too 🙂

    Such a great photo walk of the city. I was supposed to be in Liverpool for a conference this time last year, but it has been instead postponed to be on Zoom next week. It's nice to be able to see these landmarks through your eyes. It sounds like you have some great memories of the city.

    • @ChrisBoland
      @ChrisBoland  3 года назад +1

      Thank you. It's a shame you weren't able to travel to Liverpool, that bug's got a lot to answer for. Zoom just isn't the same - but the city will still be there when things are back to normal. I think you'd enjoy exploring and filming there, with the 1960s connection Super8 kind of matches the city.

      @@ChrisBoland haha thanks Chris! It's definitely a shame, but you're right that the city isn't going anywhere. Hopefully the weddings that you do will take you on more adventures!

    I use Ilford delta push to 3200 film recipe on my x100v, Tweaking here and there, trying to match or come close to the film. I like your channel's style of narration and it's unique look and feel. Keep going and growing 👍

      Thanks very much :-) Delta 3200 is definitely on of my favourite films - it's got a great look to it. I do sometimes edit my Fuji files towards that, but don't have a recipe. Thanks again.

    Question, can you take 400 or 800 iso film and dx hack to 1600 thus allowing you to use the f1.9 feature
    but then add 1-2 stops of exposure compensation in order to negate the need to process differently in the lab and thus just shooting 400 or 800iso film but shooting at f1.9?
    Thanks

    • @ChrisBoland
      @ChrisBoland  Год назад

      Hi. I can't quite work out the maths with that. I understand the idea - to force it to use f1.9. I think I did this by using ISO 50, so it needs to keep wide open. Sorry I don't know for sure!

    Did the NP setting work properly with the Delta 3200?

      almost the same, lens is the same. One big difference is the black has an exposure compensation function. The "s" does not
