- 영어를 배우다보면 어느 표현의 실제 의미가 직역과 많이 다르다는 것을 자주 느끼게 되는데 이번 영상에서는 그 중 하나를 최대한 짧은 시간 안에 영어로 배워봅니다. 이번 짧은 강의에서는 "for all I know"라는 표현에 대해서 배워봅니다.
A: "So, how old was she?"
B: I don't know. She was wearing a mask and sunglasses. (But, judging by the way she spoke,) It sounded like she may have been in her early or mid thirties. But, for all I know, she could've been in her fifties.

선생님, 짧은 예문 한개 더 있었으면 좋겠어요.
When you teach us a new expression, it feels very strange at first. But soon I find that used here and there. It's probably because I'd just neglected that expression. We knew each word (For, all, I, know/ or not, unless) so we just didn't even realize that we didn't know what that meant.
Whenever you teach us a new expression, at first it feels unfamiliar/new.
But later on I find it being used here and there, it's probably because I wasn't listening for it/looking for it in the first place! Even though I understood each word, I didn't even realize what the true/real meaning was in the context that it was in.
(hehe I don't think it's because you neglected the expression--it's simply because like you said earlier, you just didn't know it in the first place :D )

전 개인적으로 “뭐 50대면 또 어때? 50대 이든지 말든지. “ 정도 느낌이 납니다.
삼십대처럼 보이기도 하고 (완전 반대로) 50대 일수도 있다는 뜻이죠. For all I know의 뜻을 살리면 그 여자에 관해 내가 아는 정보가 거의 없기 때문에 30대일수도 있고 50대일수도 있다 한마디로 잘 모르겠다는 뜻입니다.
Basically saying,it means that it's a very random and wild guess, right?
30이라는 숫자는 왜 나오죠??? 50대 아닌가요?
영어를 읽다가 nothing less than 이 뜻을 몰라서요 어떻게 해석을 하면 좋을까요?

, 라는 뜻입니다.
조금 이해하기 쉬운 nothing short of 와 비슷한 뜻입니다.

첫번째 예문은 약간 어색하게 들리고, 두번째는 더 자연스럽습니다. 그러나 무슨 상황인지, 무슨 말을 하려고 하는지 한국어로 설명을 하면 영어로 번역을 더 정확히 할수있습니다.

(너는 내가 잘 알고 있다고 생각할수도 있지만) 내가 아는것 통 털어도 (for all I know) 그사람/그것에 대해 아는것이 딱히 없어서 나로서는 예측불허야. 그래서 정답은 A일수도 있고, 반대로 엉뚱하게 B일수도 있어.
For all I know
-she could be in her 20s or 50s.
-the bottle of wine could have been $500 or $10.
-he could be a millionaire or homeless.
