They needa cast Vin Diesel as a minecraft villager before its too late
Well we already have a villager mentioned in the cast reveal, but it's Charlie Day (honestly I'm glad it's not Vin Diesel, he got the look but not the vibe that a villager has)
This is definitely what happens when movie studios buy popular IPs without caring what makes those IPs beloved, and hand them over to other people who also don't care. Sigh.
You'd think the creators of said ip would have learned their lesson and either stop selling their work OR if they do sell have it in the contract where they get most creative rights.

You know, I get this may be difficult to imagine or digest, but not every movie has to take itself seriously. This is going to be a nice break from all the strict serious adaptations that 9/10 times would fail. Game Movies didn't start getting good until Arcane dropped in 2021. Most prior productions just flopped. Assassins Creed was the one I had the most hope for and that one didn't get to carry on. So, honestly, I will take this. I am down for a shits and giggles movie that is just having fun and I would rather have that then an over the top serious production that might just flop again.
there is simply IPs that are not made for movies. There is nothing about Minecraft asking for a movie adaption. It is at best a style, that's it
The best comment in the trailer was: "This movie needs to get back to the crafting table"

As the name "teaser" suggests, it's supposed to not reveal to much but give you a taste of what's to come.

I never got the opportunity to see it, since no cinemas was showing it in my area. so I'm gonna withold my judgement until I've had the chance, I was very interested in seeing it.

I think you're absolutely right they'll make money. Every person I've seen react today complains, gets mad, and ends with of course I'm still going to watch it.
Personally, I'm hoping they lean into the cheesy just enough for it to be so bad it's sort of good.😂
This is what I am hoping for. I have been laughing all morning. Every reaction I have seen has said it looks cursed, but they are smiling and laughing at the same time and I can not help but feel that is what they are going after.

I think the tesaract thing they holding is the from the Minecraft legends and the story is going to be like Jumanji+Minecraft legends

It feels so weird to watch a trailer for a comedy where absolutely nothing funny happens. Even the button on the end with the llama. Like, I get what was supposed to be funny there, but it wasn’t. Why are there even Piglins in the overworld? You only encounter Piglins in the Nether. It’s not like they’re an iconic Minecraft mob

No but seriously I think this is fine. The trailer tells me this movie is not trying to take itself too seriously and I am down for that. This looks like a kick back shits and giggles movie and given the budget, makes sense. I am not going to watch this expecting some ground breaking thing to happen or for it to be at Arcane's level. And ngl, I did find the trailer funny. Just not for those reasons. The trailer start to finish fells like a "yep, this bs just happened and I was told to do this so here is this cursed project from the void" type of film. I am quite okay with this.

Ya, that's the thing. A few people happened to crack the code on how to make a good movie / TV show based on video games that is then successful, and then the money man takes the wrong lesson from that success. It happens every time someone comes late to the party and tries to chase a trend that has been successful. You can see the money man logic at play here, mid-tier popular IP = mid-tier box office (something like Sonic), popular IP = big-tier box office (Mario Movie), the MOST popular IP _should_ = the BIGGEST box office! That same logic gave us the ORIGINAL Mario movie from 1993 and caused Nintendo to swear off movies for their properties for many years.
Though I don't blame the filmmakers for how weird Mario 1993 turned out. It's like Edgar Wright "failing" and being fired from _Antman_ and Lord and Miller "failing" and being fired from _Solo._ The people who initially hired them saw them create in a wild, flashy tone and style and then complain when they *don't* shoot it plain white toast with a splash of mayo? The filmmakers for Mario 1993 directed the insane, futuristic TV show Max Headroom prior to this and that's exactly what the studio got, the Super Mario IP shot through a Max Headroom lens of big, busty Big Berthas and gimp Shyguys. If that's not what they wanted, why did they hire them for the job?

The art style is odd, but how else would you have done a "live action" Minecraft movie without it just being either generic fantasy (no blocks) or disturbing body horror (blocky humans)?
Animation... All they had to do was make Minecraft story mode but with movie quality and animation. It's actually really easy to do

That was a 150M budget?!?! That's hard to believe. Sonic was 70M. Mario Bros was 100M. Sonic 2 was 110M. That looked like a 40 million dollar movie.

I will watch it not in theaters, but I hope it's so bad it's good, otherwise it can only be bad. But there were so many other places they could have gone with this, but they decided (what it seems) to be Jumanji with weird block game.

I love seeing Nerdy so gobsmacked that he is speechless for the first few seconds. We know there will be a lot of intentional humor with Jason Mamoa, Aubrey Plaza, & Jack Black.
Lol this is the most honest and based reaction I've seen yet 😅 this movie looks so bad it wouldn't even be worth watching imo, this feels like the original Sonic design all over again. They should really just make a fully animated movie like Element Animation and other youtube based Minecraft animations
Well, that was certainly a thing. I have to agree that I'm not really sure what that thing is though.
This movie will drive new tshirts and plushy sales of the derpy looking llama. But either a studio payed microsoft a licensing fee, in which case, good luck to the studio (oof) or microsoft produced it, and the merch sales will easily cover whatever they payed. But i guarantee the front of hot topics everywhere will have merch for days.....
And then the golden age was over
im curious to see clips on twitter once it goes to streaming within a month of release presumably... but i dont think i could stand actively spending £15+ on a ticket to see it at the cinema

i can stand a lot of "Bad" movies and games, but this physically repulses me at first glance. i've never seen anything this bad.

this was the dumbest idea Hollywood came up with yet. Video Game Adaptations have always been hit or miss and this one is almost certain to be in the latter. because it feels so damn disjointed to the source material, with "Aquatrans" Momoa, the Kid from stranger things, a generic black woman and a emo/goth girl that looks like she is gonna be THE MOST annoying of all the characters. then we have "Steve" who is definitely NOT Steve, Jack Black should be playing as the Creator of Minecraft, that's who Jack Black looks more like than Steve. lastly we got Minecraft looking creatures rendered alongside real people... these people should have started as people and reverted into Blocks once they crossed over... THAT would have been fine. why are they dressing Momoa in drag?? can anybody answer that??

I am so curious, but not so curious that I am willing to pay theatre prices to satisfy it. Besides, this is clearly going to be a film best enjoyed with a group of fellow shit movie hecklers, and you can't do that in theatres.

if youd want to see examples of more half decent minecraft stories that would work well as films, id suggest checking out the mc novel "the island" or the abandonware "minecraft story mode" game, both are pretty good compared to this i think lol
omg. the animals are nightmare fuel. this doesn't look funny either, unless its really funny and they said hey lets not let them know that int he trailer. did these actors lose a bet? did they somehow go into massive debt and have to do this? are they being blackmailed? or maybe they have kids who they wanted to make happy by being in the Minecraft movie? i dunno. this is horrendous. my teenager wants to see it but also thinks it looks bad. so I guess ill be mocking this with them in the spring.

Who is this for!? Do kids even still play Minecraft, or have they all basically moved on to Roblox or Fortnite?
age group playing minecraft is open ended. Given that there are more people above the age of 20 that have played minecraft than people below 20... might not be for kids after all... might just be for adults who are not afraid to watch goofy stuff for entertainment.
