I listened to the podcast the other day, and just came back to see the video and unfortunately caught the comment cesspool. I'm a farmer in Japan so I'm so outside the drama of whatever happened at the oscars, I'm not entirely sure what happened and I really don't care because it's too easy (lazy in fact) to judge people when you only catch a glimpse of their lives, and if you actually pay attention to the interview, it illustrates that point. Try to imagine everybody in the US (because frankly nobody outside cares) is judging you on that one slip up you made at a fancy party and that all the good and all the struggles that you worked your whole life to overcome just pale in comparison (at least in some people's minds) to that one single event that really was pretty damn benign to be honest. Can you imagine if all the good you have done is just erased by one high society faux paux?

I wonder if one of the lessons was keeping Jada’s name out his mouth.

As for his personality versus what happened at the Oscar's, it is probably simply that as was said in this, he is so generous and knows how to read a room so well, and being someone who constantly tries to make others feel good given his sense of his emotions, including probably everyone at the Oscar's, he probably also was just like wow. Like I do so much for you and you can't see this is really terrible for my wife, to Chris Rock.. and maybe she judged him on. But him giving himself SO much to others is probably also just like, damn, "you could've been a little nicer to me and my family, I nothing but care about you."
And given that he is so deeply able to read a room, it's like how a genius can have serious blind spots. Being he can sense this emotional / room stuff so well is also maybe why he went for that at the Oscar's. Cuz in whatever cosmos he originates from, it should be understand he cares, and so so much

Love how much respect he has for Will- definitely made me remember how Will came to be such a worldwide phenomenon- he should be his PR guy. Thank you for the great interview 🏆

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but the video keeps freezing at certain points. Don’t seem to see this on any other videos on YT.

Looking forward to reading this. Have a lot of respect for both Mark and Will and no doubt this will be a very thoughtful and laid out journey. I am a long time follower and fan of will, and though it was disheartening what happened at the Oscars. I'm happy that he took accountability and I continue to really appreciate how he's able to open up and connect his thoughts and feelings and do the emotional labor.

What accountability? He never gave back the Oscar. They never revoked it. They all lauded him as a hero and he even had the gall to have a film crew be there for his “aPoLoGy” video. He’s a chump.

Not sure if it’s just me but the sound on Tim’s podcasts is low quality, too much high pitch? is it his mic or the compression. Don’t hear it on other podcasters
