Tim Ferris always delivers powerful information that people may not be willing to accept. Too many people are misguided and believe that only positive wishful thinking leads to incredible results. I concur with Timothy on his well documented and remarkable findings.
Tim's "Risk Management for Dummies". Making plans based on what you do not want or want to eliminate. Good concrete exercise to encourage problem definition, scenario planning and action items. I did this as a kid- IE" What do I need to do to avoid working at 7-11 convenience stores?"
The timeline bar is debatable (didn't distract me), however the volume WAS too low. Lastly, in their (Ignite's) defense, the superimposed quotes likely were graphics of the (unseen) slides that Tim Ferriss utilized during his 5 minute presentation.
Unlike TED, Ignites are not filmed by the same crew. They are pulled from events around the world. In this case Tim was speaking at a Google event. The sound capture on the video was really poor. However, we felt that Tim's talk was still worth producing.
Good video. Can someone please explain his closing line: "Many of the fears you have are based on undervaluing the things that are easily obtainable". Thanks
4:25 I have had to live on a starvation diet before. Its a worst case scenario to be afraid of. Practicing it doesnt make it less degrading and difficult.
@Meanstreak5150 well the point isn't that you work for exactly 4 hours. the point is he freed the time he was devoting to one particular business, and used it for pursuits he found more fulfilling - some of which are still moneymakers (IE writing)
@Meanstreak5150 Didn't you hear? at one of the steps you delegate, in most of cases you wheigh the cost of outsourcing vs the cost of doing it yourself. It's a kind of optimization where you change your mind that thinks that doing it all will increase your productivity. Nope. You will have to rescale the costs of that in terms of time. One way of seeing it would be assigning a real value to your time.
@einerus IF YOU ONLY APPLIED THE IDEAS HE PRESENTED, EVERYTHING WOULD MOST PROBABLY CHANGE FOR THE BEST FOR YOU. It doesn "need" to be dinamic to be great.
not so impressive as other talks of him and not as dynamic as talks of other people at ignite. plus those quotes distracting from his talk aren't helping at all.
If this presentation is so speedy, why use 46 seconds to introduce it? If Tim Ferriss is interesting, why show quotes of Yoda on the screen? I had to look away from the picture to listen to his voice (sound is too low, btw) iGNiTe should simply learn from TED, and be confident that their guests are interesting enough without redundant grapics.
Not horrible advice, but the presentation wasn't that great. The quotes were super distracting, and how seriously can you take someone when they quote "Yoda"?

I can't get enough of this guy.

That was surprisingly good. I already knew Tim, but there was a decent amount of useful stuff in here.
That's awesome! Life is about having fun and enjoying your time on this beautiful planet. Anything else is a waste of time
Interesting concepts and very well executed.
love this guy.
The slides are not just irrelevant but they are distracting!
There is so much of our status based world that I could be better served by doing with out.
@dwdewhurst I agree; I like his line "that many of the fears you have, are based on undervaluing the things that are easily attainable"
The timeline bar is debatable (didn't distract me), however the volume WAS too low. Lastly, in their (Ignite's) defense, the superimposed quotes likely were graphics of the (unseen) slides that Tim Ferriss utilized during his 5 minute presentation.
I agree... I like the concept of quick presentations, but timeline bar is crazy distracting.
All the quotes and the story he's telling is in the 4 Hour Workweek.
Wow, great job! I'm looking to do the same with my info products. How did you figure it out?

What's this weird timer at the bottom?
working less getting more sounds like a goal !
Good video. Can someone please explain his closing line: "Many of the fears you have are based on undervaluing the things that are easily obtainable". Thanks
LOL timeline bar I didn't notice the first time, but this time it is driving me insane.
how many hours did it take Tim to write the 4 hour work week and promote it ? probably not 4 hours a week.
4:25 I have had to live on a starvation diet before. Its a worst case scenario to be afraid of. Practicing it doesnt make it less degrading and difficult.
thank you

Awesome video, but man is it loud, oh wait, that's the opposite of true.

Fix the audio. Can't hear it.
The stunning weight of negativity in these comments suggest high leverage for those who get the point then act.
sound is poor
@G0dex couldn't agree more
Thanks! I needed this. I shot it out on Twitter... @PhilEchols #BbetterTV
It was.
Timeline bar does indeed suck.
The video rocks, but the sound sucks.

This was decent, but jeez that timer at the bottom was annoying.

how to be a bootlicker and maximise ringlicking
his voice is very flat, hard to keep listening to him, but I did hear some interesting things
donald trump wrote something similar, he always advices to expect problems. so you are not surprised and you immediately deal with them
Hey,
this timeline thingie's got to go! The video has a timeline, that's enough. I'ts super annoying!
fromat blows, where's the ADHD friendly version, stop distracting me, leave the speaker up the whole time and put the slides behind him to the side.
