An enjoyable run! I actually remember learning the cursor-move RNG burner techniques from a TAS I watched a long time ago, and using that when I was manipulating my own levelups in my playthrough of this game. But it's so much cooler to see it done so skillfully.
This was a really fun run to watch. I really enjoyed the FE7 run last year, with Eliwood's kill count troubles, but this was even better. Hope to see Kirbymastah run more FE games at future GDQ events. Maybe FE6 next year?
:) Nice run! Out of cusiority, do you run FE6, as well? I have yet to see it run at any GDQ or RPG Limit Break, although it is not too surprising given the insane amount of RNG that can occur.
Probably. In a GBA FE speedrun context, skill is arguably more important than speed. Speed isn't really important anymore once you hit the needed thresholds to double certain bosses/enemies (which is easy when manipulated). However, to have any chance of low crits, you need every point of skill you can get.
I've ran FE6 all chapters, and any% has been done by legrandgrand. I plan on offering it for RPGLB but I'm not particularly optimistic about it since it was never released outside of Japan, especially for future GDQs.
I mean, Mekkah actually likes FE Speedruns, especially since they have different strats than LTC and place more value on different things (because it's a different kind of "high level Fire Emblem").
Hi friends, at 1:20:54 someone named Smuckers donates and their story sounds incredibly similar to an old friend of mine. If you know who they are or how to contact them, please send them my way, thanks!
Seriously, if you two actually get reunited, I'm donating next year. I don't even know how, cause I live overseas, but I'm gonna do it. GDQ: Killing cancer and reuniting old friends.
Gen Doukeshi Yeah, I bet he makes really funny Mega Man videos on his channel, and he probably plays retro games with skill and grace and is incredibly subtle!
I'm surprised to see this comment, given how old the video is. But I was just watching this and was thinking of saying the same thing. I'm a Joshua lover not a Vanessa lover dammit.
Myrmidons are vastly overrated by casuals. They really lack strength, criticals are not reliable, and most importantly, they don't have any 2-range which is really important in FE7/8. They're much better in FE6 since +30% crit boost and swords are very accurate unlike lances/axes.
Sacred Stones is a enemy-phase heavy game, so despite the fact that he can do well at 1-range, he's still strictly limited to 1 range, and magic swords are generally really bad and rare. He's considered mid tier at best because of this. His strength isn't really amazing either. Also keep in mind any other sword user (including heroes/paladins) can also use killer weapons, people seem to imply only he and marisa can use them (Aside from the wo dao).
Wanna see the newest Fire Emblem games speedrunned one day. Is it just because the new games are setup inproperly to speed run them? I like the classics, but im just really curious about the new ones.
@@FlamingZelda3 Not quite. When an enemy stops on a tile that does a thing (Mines, lava, egg incubators, a Torch staff tile), you have a moment to restart, which screws with the game's logic and puts you in control of Enemy Phase. The glitch applies to both FE7 and Sacred Stones.
Whoa, did Kirbymastah call Ewan a generally bad unit? In casual runs, I find him to be one of, if not, the best magic user on my team. He's certainly the best Druid, edging out the unlucky Knoll, in my opinion.
Ewan is only the better druid because Knoll is so bad. His little kid ass gets slowed horribly by those heavy dark tomes, which really ruins him. He's also in a game where druids are especially bad because they can't use light magic, which monsters are weak to. You could go the mage route, sure, but then you'd be better off using Lute or even Saleh. Ewan sucks, don't use him.
ECG is technically possible on any map. The trick is normally frame perfect, while action tiles increase that window to something that doesn't take three hours worth of resetting. It's how you obtain wretched air without a cheating device.
msterforks No, people thought that but are completely wrong. You're likely reading from gamefaqs which is wrong about this. Frame advancing on an emulator shows that it doesn't work anywhere.
I read it off several sites, but noticed that there wasn't a single documented case of definitive proof. I decided to try frame advancing on emu and indeed you are correct, there is no frame that works. Cheers for clarifying.
Sortof, the RNG in this game is a list of numbers, and it's explained early on that he manipulates where the RNG is on the list to affect level ups, hits/misses, things like that.
It's a little sketchy that the runner uses slot one for most of the game, then overwrites slot 2 at about the hour mark, if he wanted to use multiple save slots he should have erased them all at the beginning
1. I started a new file and used primarily slot 1 2. At some point in the run, I saved over slot 2 without actually using the data in it. There would be no difference whether I actually had game data there or not (it was just a practice file anyways). Afterwards I continuously used slot 2 because that's where my most updated save is. 3. The reason I did this was if I made a mistake without noticing then saved over the only run file I had, I would not be able to complete the run. Worst-case scenario, I would have the save in slot 1 where I can redo the run from that point on. Of course, if this happened too deep in the run, it would probably get mercy killed lol
Kirby Mastah it's not you. It's the RNG manipulation. I watched your run of Shadow Dragon live a few weeks ago for RPG limit break. It was routed great, but not RNG manipulated. I thought it was a great run and very entertaining to watch.
if you listen very closely right as amelia gets killed you can hear the distant sound of mangs breaking out the champagne
Best comment here LMAO XD
I really like how Kirbymasta made the run more entertaining by switching animations on and off to make it more entertaining.
Watching Vanessa just take on archers like that was giving me many many heart attacks lol
Same! I'm glad I'm not a speed runner, cuz I'd die before the characters would.
ephraim best sister confirmed
i like how the fastest way to play this game involves throwing away sacred weapons, which are like, literal national treasures, like trash lol
L'Arachel being the best character on the entire series, objectively
All good here

I like to call this game "Fire Emblem the Seth Stones"
Edge Ninja Sacred Seth
I call Fire Emblem the Magic Rocks
R.I.P Joshua :(
30% crit? Sounds like good odds! - Famous Last Words
R.I.P Amelia

I'm a Vanessa fan and I love the level ups on her.
As a Vanessa fan, I loved watching this run :')
Until the very end, rip

I wonder how many pitfalls Mekkkah found in the couch discussion :)
Mc Lovin Don't think there are :p
though making sense in context, when he said "skill is more important than speed" mekkah and mangs probably both reflexively imploded
:) Nice run! Out of cusiority, do you run FE6, as well? I have yet to see it run at any GDQ or RPG Limit Break, although it is not too surprising given the insane amount of RNG that can occur.

I knew there was a reason I liked Kirbymastah so much. Vanessa and L'Arachel are my favorites (especially L'Arachel)!
Thrilled to see my favourite game being completely destroyed! nice job
Vanessa just flyes over everything oneshots the boss and dome 😂😂
This speedrun is amazing
When that flying pony becomes a dragon you know you made the right decision

Joshua Schnurbusch what a coincidence:O
That's every little kids story about this game dude.

These level ups are making me salty.
Poor Joshua. :(
Never lucky.

It sure would be cool if the guy who read the donation found this and commented too... but that would never happen.
the music is so good in this game :3
Oh man lyon such a hard boss.. Gets one shotted
Seth: Oh boy, here I go killing again.
As a Joshua fan (he’s my favorite character in the series) this run makes me sad.

welcome to Seth Emblem: The Sacred Seth

The lack of myrmidon huts me

Joshua has a relatively high str stat rate, plus the abundance of killing weapons in the game make him near god in power. They do get Runed sword too.
Sacred Stones is a enemy-phase heavy game, so despite the fact that he can do well at 1-range, he's still strictly limited to 1 range, and magic swords are generally really bad and rare. Rundy Ftw it was more of a joke

You did it again KirbyMastah
Wanna see the newest Fire Emblem games speedrunned one day. Is it just because the new games are setup inproperly to speed run them? I like the classics, but im just really curious about the new ones.
The DS/3DS fire emblems are basically black screen simulators because of skipping enemy phase, so they're not really great for marathons
How do u do that glitch where u control the ememies icant figure it out?
@@FlamingZelda3 Not quite. When an enemy stops on a tile that does a thing (Mines, lava, egg incubators, a Torch staff tile), you have a moment to restart, which screws with the game's logic and puts you in control of Enemy Phase. The glitch applies to both FE7 and Sacred Stones.
Vanessa trained and upgrade promoted and such... jsut to die to the boss because they voted for someone else...
rude !
Pretty cool run, enjoyed watching it.
Have you considered using the homebrew Game Boy Interface to play GBA games with the game boy player?
Cray Elliott Lazy
I hate this guy (not really) for killing Vanessa and Tana. And not recruiting Marisa
Chapter 8 wasn't playing "Follow Me"? Weird. It's one of my favourite tracks. Also, "Lara-shell" :P

Loved the run. But can someone tell me why they use fixed RNG tables? The crits and talent procs are off the roof.
You didn't use Lute or Myrrh.

XD
25 min in but is the RNG rigged? Seems like Seth and Vanessa are getting real good level ups
Sortof, the RNG in this game is a list of numbers, and it's explained early on that he manipulates where the RNG is on the list to affect level ups, hits/misses, things like that.
Seth has great growths, they stopped manipulation for him but he leveled up well anyway.

I hate that they kill Joshua in a speedrun
