Mangs I do not agree with your rating on karel with a silver sword he does 31 damage and 1 rounds most units and more so most units cant even hit him with his reliable avoidense giving him 1 or 2 levels and he can one round bosses in the final chapter and can reliable kill tougher bosses like endgame sages and valkyries (Ursula morph and limstella) and give him a lancereaver and he can one round Darin as well on avarage he will get 18 str after 5 levels and with the only other possible swordmaster is guy which requires investment unlike karel and will have lower str which is the stat that makes swordmasters worse in turn leading to close to no competition and not only and unlike harken he can after 1 luck and 2 speed actually dodge the fire dragon in my opinion 2 and 3 stars do not give fe7 karel justice in fe6 yes but fe7 karel is worth more
Mangs made some genuine points that I never considered. He does well to try not to let his biases control him. For instance, he made a resounding point, saying "also she is not naked." A splendid criticism that reminds me why I subscribed this channel.
As a Level 5 Hero Raven will have 12 Defense on average while Kent has 13 as a Level 5 Paladin. So yeah, I never found both either of them to be really bulky.
I kinda wish the units that Mangs' opinions of changed would get a revamped review. Units like Raven or Heath, that Mangs initially dismissed, should get a new review, maybe alongside the old one, just to give them better justice. Well, it's Mangs' decision, just a suggestion.

Bardock SkyWalker i'd say Eda from FE5 is arguably the worst draco in the series (speaking from all games besides 1/3/11/12) Basically has all of Heath's problems (poor availability, bad bases) on top of joining with one of the best dracoknights in the series (Dean) who even gets a personal weapon in the same chapter they join. being forced to dismount indoors with a terrible sword rank means she can't do much late game. She's by no means awful (honestly dracoknights are pretty much the best class in terms of unit quality imo) and she has good growths with a niche in being a wyvern with an actual res stat, but compared to the likes of miledy, Jil & RD Haar she's pretty lackluster.
I remember using Eliwood during my first run of Hector Hard Mode. By the end of Level 20 as a prepromote, he had 10 strength and 19 speed, with 15 defense. I didnt know what annoyed me more though, the fact that my Lyn had more strength by that level, or that Eliwood had the same speed as my Lyn.
When Mangs made his review of Hector back in the first video, I think he never imagined he'd became an armored version of Sonic the Hedgehog, for an armored unit in Fire Emblem...
They're judging based on Hector Hard mode. When it comes to judging characters, you usually use the hardest difficulty. That's why they use the bonus stats given to units that begin as enemies like Raven.
Can I get a junge on starting with Lyn mode? I suck at fire emblem prob will never play hector hard mode also I like lyn then every other character in the game i tend to just lv 20 her in the first 10 chapters of lyn mode lol and she just sucks up exp when she comes back XD I'm suffer from favorite character syndrome sometimes i don't even move my other units and just solo with lyn saying they're not cool enough to be used have yet to beat the game because the enemies out stat her from promoting
@@djmack6474 to each their own on how they play, that strategy is actually really effective in most cases, it's just kind of unfortunate that Lyn promotes so late. But it's best to try to get a unit all the way to lvl 20 (or at least lvl 19, which is what I often do just not to cut XP sometimes) before promoting anyways, just because it's extra levels for stat bonuses. Try Florina sometime! She's a bit harder because it takes her a few levels to get going and archers will be trouble, but she gets real good.
@@jazzisfrommars2476 Florina owns everything. OP as hell, as most good pegasus riders in most Fire Emblems if you use a couple of stats items on them. Now I'm playing Shadow Dragon on merciless difficulty and Caeda/Shiida solos basically anything.

I honestly hate using Jagens. I get it, Marcus is good but... I like training weak units to be strong. Plus I find that Sain can do anything Marcus can do better once he becomes a thing.
Thing is, Marcus is more like the oifey archetype. He's a strong prepromote that is effective throughout the game. But hey you play the way you want to play! No one is gonna force you to play a certain way
Marcus destroys the hardest parts of the game, which are the beginning and the mid-game. Some maps are pretty much impossible without him in HHM And when they are catched up, it will probably happen in mid-lategame, and the Jagen will still have the weapon rank on his favor. He won't be completely outclassed
I think the thing to take into account here is "once becomes a thing" Marcus is already a thing from the moment you get him Sain is by no means bad but i believe what makes marcus so good is that you need like no invesment to use him for early to midgame so by the time he "falls out"(he never does tho,at least in fe 7) you already are promoting his replacement

I played this game blind and true hardcore as my first FE game. Hector carried my team at the end. Lyn and Eliwood were not only useless, but actually liabilities 😂 That's why I love these games. Because your playthrough and mine were very different.
Karla, karla... bartre is an investment, but its all for a trophy you do only once because as someone who uses fir a lot. This why if they remake fe6 and fe7, and made it one big game, I would love to see a complete story.
Wil is the unit I use every single playthrough of fe7 and I don't know why. I like his character OK, but I legit cannot beat the game without him, it doesn't feel right
Marcus is literally garbage and is a crutch for early game, nothing more. Nino is just not worth it, yeah she has great growths, but she comes at such a low level, and she literally has to be babied, not to mention that potential is only usable for like 3 chapters I think? Erk has much better availability, and Pent is solid and comes with an A support wife who is also OK.

Yes, but doing so is a lot of work, dedication, and a lot of risk. She is very weak when she joins, and you only get to utilize her for like 5 chapters, while as Erk is way more available, as well as pent, who both get the job done, they are both good as well, and have more availability, So Nino isn't useless, just a risk with very low return, she can be made into a literal monster,but that is only after a literal long haul.
@@27Bayleefs true, although I usually like to use her anyway in any casual playthrough since she can destroy almost anything in Cog of Destiny (if trained in 26x) and can be really fun to use if you have enough patience to train her. My tactics rating is already always awful anyway, so I usually don't care, although she is admittedly often bad for tactics rating.
Give an update on your thoughts on units. Because of the exp rank , you got to use lots of usually under-used units. You can use more consistent ranking criteria in a stand-alone video. Maybe break it up into multiple parts (early game unit recruits, mid game recruits, late game recruits)
It's funny, in my first playthrough of FE7 (Lyn and Eliwood Normal Mode), my Marcus stopped being very useful near the end because he literally NEVER leveled up defense. He legit ended the game with 10 defense, which meant he would take a lot of damage. Obviously he was amazing in the early game and the mid game, but near the end he wasn't as useful but still good.
Yeah same for me, it jyst goes to show how luck of RNG really makes or breaks a character. I always thought Marcus was a Jegan cause he fell off completely late game for me. My MVP was Dart I never promoted him and he still got the most kills in endgame which had me so hype. Guy was also really really strong in my play through, and Jaffar with Killing Edge they crit damn near every interaction and almost never got hit

I just like how when they talked about paladins going in with no weapon triangle disadvantage I was thinking "but they can only use lances and swords." I've played a lot of sacred stones lately and forgot that they lost the ability to use axes in fe8.
I lost a bet and had to use shit units. Rebecca was pitaful. I used Dorcas and idk what happen but his stats were insane, 16 strength it was a little low his speed idk what happen he had 17 speed, 13 defense and 13 skill at level 20 fighter. Got him to lvl 12 warrior with solid stats, every other time I used him he was awful
Raven is a 6 star IMO. I normally get him 20/20 promote in the arena in literally the chapter right after you unlock him and he normally maxes str skill and speed and he sometimes will max hp
Mangs did another video on his changed opinions on FE7 units, and he does rank Raven much, much higher However grinding in the arena doesn't really mean anything :P Maxing stats doesn't matter either outside of looking cool, you just need to hit stat thresholds
One of my favorite things to do in this game is power grind Nino in 26x to the point where she can deal damage to Sonia and give her the worlds most satisfying takedown of a boss in any video game

This is a separate mode called Hector mode unlocked after beating the game! It's a similar story with more emphasis on Hector rather then eliwood with different chapters. It's also quite harder
I found Rebecca to be quite useful in the early parts of my runs (for real, but in a laughable way.) By having Marcus carry her around, he becomes slow enough that instead of double striking and killing enemies, he leaves them with a sliver of health, easy exp for the rest of the party. Chapter 12, he can just equip an iron sword and pop into range of the southern bandits to beat them nearly to death. Chapter 13, I give him a Javelin to weaken the enemies near Guy. 13x is hard, so I have Rebecca use a mine and deal some chip damage. If I'm in a position where Marcus can weaken enemies without endangering my other units, Merlinus is a better choice then Rebecca. And lastly, Chapter 14 Marcus can javelin most of the units across the river. But here, I actually have him carry Matthew after he steals a Vulnerary from the armored knight on the far right (Lowen rescues him and brings him to a spot for Marcus to pick up.) Rebecca just deals some chip damage, and sacrifices herself if it looks like somebody else is in danger. Now, these are roles literally any character at this point except Marcus can do. But Rebecca is the best at this, because she's the worst at everything else, except in 13x where she's better than Merlinus. Seriously, she's an absolute trash unit. But it's because she's so bad that she's the best choice for Marcus to carry around, and these are the 4 chapters where you get to field all of your units, so unlike Wil, she sticks around for a few chapters. In terms of actual utility, I consider Wil to be the worst unit in the game. He's better than Rebecca entirely because there's no drawback to bringing her onto 4 maps. They are definitely the game's worst 2 units though.

I didn't said being good on the late game don't matter when discussing how good a unit is, i said that only being good there make you way worse (almost useless) respect to units that are good for the entirety of the game or at least for the most difficult part of it, at least for an optimal playthrough. That said this is just a game and everybody can play it however they want, if you have fun using lyn and Rebecca (i actually use them too sometimes when I'm bored) it's fine, I'm not trying to take that away from you
@@taytolson4249lmao Rebecca is not a good unit late game. At best she becomes a sniper that kills one enemy on each player phase and is still completely useless on enemy phase. Lyn and Florina can actually become really good, especially Florina since Falcon’s a great class, but Rebecca is overall the worst bow unit in the game and probably in contention for bottom 3/5 in the game.
I really had a mutant Canas on my first-ever playthrough, the more I have learned of how the game's growth works.. My first-ever Canas maxed out Mag, Ski, Spd, Def, and Res, with 18Luk. He became the most baller unit in my army. I have never had another Canas get anywhere near that level of no longer giving a fuck about literally the entire enemy roster, and probably never will again. Why did I ever delete that save file? D:
I think that the ratings early on were quite bias before Mangs was influenced by Mekkah. I mean, Mangs called Hector fast, one of the best lords, and gave him three stars. Late promotion and low bases and locked to 5 movement is ofc pretty good right? Also why tf give Oswin 4 stars. I know he's one of the better armors in fire emblem, but he's still not anything spectacular cuz again 4 movement. You can see the bias in that 4 star rating especially since that's basically comparing him to units like Fiora And Sain. And then I feel that Mangs gave some unfair rating to units he hadn't really used much before like Raven. Overall though I think Mangs did a good job and I love the rating system and it's lay out and it should definitely come back in future remasters, but I just wanted to point out some flaws. One thing you could do is spread it out to 10 stars and every units starts with 1 star and they get another star depending on their attribute like base stats and weapon ranks and stuff. So like let's say we were rating Fiora out of 10 stars. She automatically gets 1 star. She has good base stats so there's another star. She has a Pegasus so there's 2 stars because movement +flying. Her availability is pretty good, so there's another star. etc etc. I think that would give the ratings more depth and fairness. It could be whether they have good movement or not, base stats, weapon ranks, join time, class, how much they cost to use (whether they require a promotional item or not), etc.
The ratings aren't all great. The criteria is inconsistent, but a 10 star system would be terrible in this context. I do agree with the sentiment of your comment, but I think it should be addressed by Mangs making a second video updating his thoughts on units after his playthrough. I think he learned a lot and will use more consistent criteria in a stand-alone video.

Blake Blast I wouldn't say she sucks. In fact she usually ends up the most powerful of the three since she joins quite a few chapters earlier. Also, she can do triangle attack as well. But it is true that her main selling point is her availability.
Preach it! Florina only beats Fiora in luck. Talk about a existential argument for a video game: should we really be factoring in luck for a unit's viability? How meta in the FE Universe are we allowed to get? LOL Seriously, though. Of the three sisters, I easily like Fiora the most. I like her personality better. I like her aesthetics better. I even like her supports better. But more importantly, I enjoy her combat way more. Florina has always been a pain to get going to become a viable unit, even during something as easy as Lyn's Tale. She can easily be benched without looking back, to be honest. And she will be if my tactics break to the point of which I have to coddle Florina for EXP. Meanwhile, Fiora can hang in most situations, save for the enemy archers of course. There is no coddling. Meanwhile, Farina is a waste in any ranked run, and her personality is an annoying drag. Fiora's a woman, and at least Florina has a cute way of growing up. But definitely Fiona is the best of the three IMO.
You must not have even tried to work with the peg knights. They are wonderful speed tanks that can actually become deceptively strong if you invest in them. They are also usually pretty good mage hunters and have the Tri attack, which is gimmicky, but a good way to sometimes annihilate the end bosses. Heath is just a general that flies, especially if he didn't level up his speed. It also doesn't help that he is weighted down by everything above an iron lance with only 9 speed for the longest time.
Florina, Kent and Sain have their Lyn's story stats on the screen instead of default E/H stats. Skipping Lyn's story cripples most of it's characters. Especially Wil and Lyn are night and day. Wil is around 2-3 stars, as he can one round pegasus knights and deal heavy damage to other enemies, while Lyn is easily 3-4 stars when she joins around level 10, one rounding everything, even with triangle disadvantage and not dying in 2 hits like default E/H Lyn.
Seeing this just makes me wanna chat unit stuff with mangs, especially since I swear, in several of my runs, growth rates were a lie XD For example, in one run, Eliwood somehow ended up becoming a rather decent anti-mage unit when he kept getting res growths for some reason, or Dorcas somehow ending up godlike on his own by constantly getting perfect level ups.. Growth rate jank is fun when it happens, and you cannot tell me it hasn't happened to mangs or mekkah before lol
my rebecca got stat blessed, both her speed and attack were over 20 at the end of the game and even her defense/resistance were really high imo(both around 15
My Rebecca was a god when I invested in her. Shed have very little trouble with enemies and was actually my boss sniper. She also maked a good dodge tank in a pinch. But investing into her definitely drags her down
1:42:18 my Jaffar did a solo run of the final chapter and just silenced all of the bosses except the dragon and most of the time a normal crit would've not been enough. I would say the skill isn't that bad :D
Dart a 3 star? Dart is perfect on the player phase, pretty much ensuring a kill, with any axe. And in a Fire Emblem with a abundance of money, the ocean seal literally makes no difference if sold. I filled my convoy with high end weaponry, and still had large quantities of money left. Level Dart up, and he will just shit on Hawkeye. And on the topic of survivability? He can survive, easily, with that easily maxed speed. Tank a few with with his eh defence. I've always used Dart, and he basically never dies.
He's my favourite unit in all of 7. Guy supported with Priscilla. Priscilla, Raven, and Lucius all supporting each other= everything dies and they are untouched on enemy phase. Heals? We got it. One rounds? We got it. Avoid for days? Check. Status clears? Mhm. Besides, his outfit is so cool. So basic yet it is just 😗👌
For some reason in my first playthrough Erk just became a dodge tank and proceeded to one round basically everything and so many enemies suicided on him. I had Canas and Pent doing basically the same thing so I had a wall of squishy mages that just worked

Farina: Joins in a map where she's roughly 3 Javelins and a Pure Water away from hitting lv.20 thanks to the absolute mess of Monks on the map, and the map contains a promotion item for her. People thinking with LTC Brain: It would be better if she started as a lv.1 Falco Knight. Farina's biggest investment is the 20,000 required to get her, if you're going to fork that over, 3 Javelins and a Pure Water you probably were never going to use anyway is a small ask to get on average 6 more Hp, 4 more strength 3 more Skill, Speed and Luck, along with 2 more Def and Res. Given that the rest of your army is likely promoted already, its not like those monks are going to be worth letting anybody else kill.
Started a FE7 HHM run - and boy, Guys is my mvp. Don't underestimate him, he can grind up easily and in 17x (pirate chapter) he's THE carry and a good boss killer later on as swordmaster
I mean EVERY unit can be good if s/he can grind, and the thing with Guy is that that he Swordlock and has low mov, still has very nice bases so is very good at early game, but after Raven appears, he has not purpose, unless you really like him.

old i know but Rath should at least be 3 stars since he's around for Genesis and he's the only available mounted unit with a brave weapon in that chapter, and the walls make it so he can actually have a bit on an enemy phase there, so with the brave bow and respectable defenses, hes able to do very nicely there. He's also a good unit in the desert chapter since he gets bonuses on desert terrain, so hes probably the best mounted unit there. Otherwise, he turns into an average unit, although brave bow keeps him from doing poorly and he gets the most out of his promotion from the Orion's Bolt, and you also get one very close from the time he should be promoted, so honestly he's a very respectable unit and shouldnt be ruled out, maybe even better then Louise gameplay wise, since they both can do extremely well at base. Edit: I realise he's not the only mounted unit in that chapter who can use brave weapons, Marcus can too with the brave axe (not at base but he should have it) but he does get weighed down by quite a lot and doubled i believe, while Rath isnt.
I don't know if I accidentally overleveled Eliwood, or just got insane level ups with him, but he was my MVP for a good chunk of the game. He doubled basically everything he fought, got constant crits, more so than Lyn actually, and just tore a hole through a wide majority of the army every map. I think I just got some good levels with him. Though that IS the issue with Eliwood. If you get his growth rates to cooperate, he's insanely powerful. If his growth's aren't cooperative, he's a liability.
Which mode were you playing? Maybe normal mode enemy stats made eliwood better earlier than expected Although there's a limit to what he can do He is a footswordlord for a mayority of the game so you reach a pint where he is good at killing but slow to get to the fray
As for Heath, I'd just like to point out his CON is 9, and a lot of fliers ain't that bulky, so they tend to take speed penalties a lot harder whereas Heath doesn't have that problem too terribly much. Seriously though, aren't the Pega-sisters around 4 or 5 CON? I can't recall now but yeah. Of course, the higher the CON on a flier, the less they can rescue. *shrug* Still, 9 does not take away TOO much from the rescuing potential while also helping him not loose too much speed. What? I like Heath.
2:50 Hector is very useful much before the promotion, but in the beginning he is kind of useless in fact. I would at least give him 4/5 for the entire game, however 3/5 makes sense considering the beginning.
I think many people forget that hector is late promoted in hector mode, in eliwood mode he can be promoted very early, and in my first playtrough, even though I only trained him and florina, he wasnt level 20 when i got the promotion. He will very often reach his caps of almost everything except luck and res, which also happened to me. His speed and stat caps are ridiculously high in Great Lord class. Its literally one point away from the swordmaster caps, and thats just dumb. His growth rates arent anything special, but given that he starts as a level 1 unpromoted unit, he´s got more than enough level ups (except for luck and res).
Worried about that 5 move? Just use florina! He´ll be at the boss in an insant. Just make sure she isnt in the range of some very high strenght and skill axe-wielders...
I always found the Nino hate between these two kind of weird. Even if you are not feeding her, and promote her at lvl 10, she is not really a bad unit. Honestly, leveling her naturally, and not giving her any enhancement items, she is usually still on par with Erk (though her magic is almost always higher) by the Finale.

Mangs I do not agree with your rating on karel with a silver sword he does 31 damage and 1 rounds most units and more so most units cant even hit him with his reliable avoidense giving him 1 or 2 levels and he can one round bosses in the final chapter and can reliable kill tougher bosses like endgame sages and valkyries (Ursula morph and limstella) and give him a lancereaver and he can one round Darin as well on avarage he will get 18 str after 5 levels and with the only other possible swordmaster is guy which requires investment unlike karel and will have lower str which is the stat that makes swordmasters worse in turn leading to close to no competition and not only and unlike harken he can after 1 luck and 2 speed actually dodge the fire dragon in my opinion 2 and 3 stars do not give fe7 karel justice in fe6 yes but fe7 karel is worth more

Bardock SkyWalker i'd say Eda from FE5 is arguably the worst draco in the series (speaking from all games besides 1/3/11/12) Basically has all of Heath's problems (poor availability, bad bases) on top of joining with one of the best dracoknights in the series (Dean) who even gets a personal weapon in the same chapter they join. being forced to dismount indoors with a terrible sword rank means she can't do much late game. She's by no means awful (honestly dracoknights are pretty much the best class in terms of unit quality imo) and she has good growths with a niche in being a wyvern with an actual res stat, but compared to the likes of miledy, Jil & RD Haar she's pretty lackluster.

I remember using Eliwood during my first run of Hector Hard Mode. By the end of Level 20 as a prepromote, he had 10 strength and 19 speed, with 15 defense. I didnt know what annoyed me more though, the fact that my Lyn had more strength by that level, or that Eliwood had the same speed as my Lyn.

They're judging based on Hector Hard mode. When it comes to judging characters, you usually use the hardest difficulty. That's why they use the bonus stats given to units that begin as enemies like Raven.
Can I get a junge on starting with Lyn mode? I suck at fire emblem prob will never play hector hard mode also I like lyn then every other character in the game i tend to just lv 20 her in the first 10 chapters of lyn mode lol and she just sucks up exp when she comes back XD I'm suffer from favorite character syndrome sometimes i don't even move my other units and just solo with lyn saying they're not cool enough to be used have yet to beat the game because the enemies out stat her from promoting
@@djmack6474 to each their own on how they play, that strategy is actually really effective in most cases, it's just kind of unfortunate that Lyn promotes so late. But it's best to try to get a unit all the way to lvl 20 (or at least lvl 19, which is what I often do just not to cut XP sometimes) before promoting anyways, just because it's extra levels for stat bonuses.
Try Florina sometime! She's a bit harder because it takes her a few levels to get going and archers will be trouble, but she gets real good.

I honestly hate using Jagens. I get it, Marcus is good but... I like training weak units to be strong. Plus I find that Sain can do anything Marcus can do better once he becomes a thing.
I mean, with the exception of Seth and maybe frederick, all cain and abels become better than the jeigen.
Thing is, Marcus is more like the oifey archetype. He's a strong prepromote that is effective throughout the game. But hey you play the way you want to play! No one is gonna force you to play a certain way
Marcus destroys the hardest parts of the game, which are the beginning and the mid-game. Some maps are pretty much impossible without him in HHM
And when they are catched up, it will probably happen in mid-lategame, and the Jagen will still have the weapon rank on his favor. He won't be completely outclassed

So, here's what I get fron this, Marcus is terrible, and Nino is essential for all playthroughs.
Marcus is literally garbage and is a crutch for early game, nothing more. Nino is just not worth it, yeah she has great growths, but she comes at such a low level, and she literally has to be babied, not to mention that potential is only usable for like 3 chapters I think? Erk has much better availability, and Pent is solid and comes with an A support wife who is also OK.

Yes, but doing so is a lot of work, dedication, and a lot of risk. She is very weak when she joins, and you only get to utilize her for like 5 chapters, while as Erk is way more available, as well as pent, who both get the job done, they are both good as well, and have more availability, So Nino isn't useless, just a risk with very low return, she can be made into a literal monster,but that is only after a literal long haul.

Give an update on your thoughts on units. Because of the exp rank , you got to use lots of usually under-used units. You can use more consistent ranking criteria in a stand-alone video. Maybe break it up into multiple parts (early game unit recruits, mid game recruits, late game recruits)

It's funny, in my first playthrough of FE7 (Lyn and Eliwood Normal Mode), my Marcus stopped being very useful near the end because he literally NEVER leveled up defense. He legit ended the game with 10 defense, which meant he would take a lot of damage. Obviously he was amazing in the early game and the mid game, but near the end he wasn't as useful but still good.
Yeah same for me, it jyst goes to show how luck of RNG really makes or breaks a character. I always thought Marcus was a Jegan cause he fell off completely late game for me. My MVP was Dart I never promoted him and he still got the most kills in endgame which had me so hype. Guy was also really really strong in my play through, and Jaffar with Killing Edge they crit damn near every interaction and almost never got hit

I used Dorcas and idk what happen but his stats were insane, 16 strength it was a little low his speed idk what happen he had 17 speed, 13 defense and 13 skill at level 20 fighter. Got him to lvl 12 warrior with solid stats, every other time I used him he was awful

Raven is a 6 star IMO. I normally get him 20/20 promote in the arena in literally the chapter right after you unlock him and he normally maxes str skill and speed and he sometimes will max hp
Mangs did another video on his changed opinions on FE7 units, and he does rank Raven much, much higher
However grinding in the arena doesn't really mean anything :P Maxing stats doesn't matter either outside of looking cool, you just need to hit stat thresholds

The entire game is a Nino rescue mission if you don't max her out you have not beat the game.
I've beaten the game 3 times, and never used nino. I've even killed her twice.
The true challenge is getting Karla to level 20, Nino is overrated

This is a separate mode called Hector mode unlocked after beating the game! It's a similar story with more emphasis on Hector rather then eliwood with different chapters. It's also quite harder

Yay! We get to watch Mangs deteriorate!
I found Rebecca to be quite useful in the early parts of my runs (for real, but in a laughable way.)
By having Marcus carry her around, he becomes slow enough that instead of double striking and killing enemies, he leaves them with a sliver of health, easy exp for the rest of the party. Chapter 12, he can just equip an iron sword and pop into range of the southern bandits to beat them nearly to death. Chapter 13, I give him a Javelin to weaken the enemies near Guy. 13x is hard, so I have Rebecca use a mine and deal some chip damage. If I'm in a position where Marcus can weaken enemies without endangering my other units, Merlinus is a better choice then Rebecca.
And lastly, Chapter 14 Marcus can javelin most of the units across the river. But here, I actually have him carry Matthew after he steals a Vulnerary from the armored knight on the far right (Lowen rescues him and brings him to a spot for Marcus to pick up.) Rebecca just deals some chip damage, and sacrifices herself if it looks like somebody else is in danger.
Now, these are roles literally any character at this point except Marcus can do. But Rebecca is the best at this, because she's the worst at everything else, except in 13x where she's better than Merlinus.
Seriously, she's an absolute trash unit. But it's because she's so bad that she's the best choice for Marcus to carry around, and these are the 4 chapters where you get to field all of your units, so unlike Wil, she sticks around for a few chapters.
In terms of actual utility, I consider Wil to be the worst unit in the game. He's better than Rebecca entirely because there's no drawback to bringing her onto 4 maps. They are definitely the game's worst 2 units though.

That said this is just a game and everybody can play it however they want, if you have fun using lyn and Rebecca (i actually use them too sometimes when I'm bored) it's fine, I'm not trying to take that away from you
@@taytolson4249lmao Rebecca is not a good unit late game. At best she becomes a sniper that kills one enemy on each player phase and is still completely useless on enemy phase. Lyn and Florina can actually become really good, especially Florina since Falcon’s a great class, but Rebecca is overall the worst bow unit in the game and probably in contention for bottom 3/5 in the game.

I really had a mutant Canas on my first-ever playthrough, the more I have learned of how the game's growth works..
My first-ever Canas maxed out Mag, Ski, Spd, Def, and Res, with 18Luk. He became the most baller unit in my army.
I have never had another Canas get anywhere near that level of no longer giving a fuck about literally the entire enemy roster, and probably never will again.

I think that the ratings early on were quite bias before Mangs was influenced by Mekkah. I mean, Mangs called Hector fast, one of the best lords, and gave him three stars. Late promotion and low bases and locked to 5 movement is ofc pretty good right? Also why tf give Oswin 4 stars. I know he's one of the better armors in fire emblem, but he's still not anything spectacular cuz again 4 movement. You can see the bias in that 4 star rating especially since that's basically comparing him to units like Fiora And Sain. And then I feel that Mangs gave some unfair rating to units he hadn't really used much before like Raven. Overall though I think Mangs did a good job and I love the rating system and it's lay out and it should definitely come back in future remasters, but I just wanted to point out some flaws. One thing you could do is spread it out to 10 stars and every units starts with 1 star and they get another star depending on their attribute like base stats and weapon ranks and stuff. So like let's say we were rating Fiora out of 10 stars. She automatically gets 1 star. She has good base stats so there's another star. She has a Pegasus so there's 2 stars because movement +flying. Her availability is pretty good, so there's another star. etc etc. I think that would give the ratings more depth and fairness. It could be whether they have good movement or not, base stats, weapon ranks, join time, class, how much they cost to use (whether they require a promotional item or not), etc.

I do agree with the sentiment of your comment, but I think it should be addressed by Mangs making a second video updating his thoughts on units after his playthrough. I think he learned a lot and will use more consistent criteria in a stand-alone video.

Preach it! Florina only beats Fiora in luck. Talk about a existential argument for a video game: should we really be factoring in luck for a unit's viability? How meta in the FE Universe are we allowed to get? LOL
Seriously, though. Of the three sisters, I easily like Fiora the most. I like her personality better. I like her aesthetics better. I even like her supports better. But more importantly, I enjoy her combat way more. Florina has always been a pain to get going to become a viable unit, even during something as easy as Lyn's Tale. She can easily be benched without looking back, to be honest. And she will be if my tactics break to the point of which I have to coddle Florina for EXP. Meanwhile, Fiora can hang in most situations, save for the enemy archers of course. There is no coddling. Meanwhile, Farina is a waste in any ranked run, and her personality is an annoying drag. Fiora's a woman, and at least Florina has a cute way of growing up. But definitely Fiona is the best of the three IMO.
Heath dumps on all the peg knights. He can actually kill enemies in 1 turn and he isn't a 1 shot. Unlike all the peg knights
You must not have even tried to work with the peg knights. They are wonderful speed tanks that can actually become deceptively strong if you invest in them. They are also usually pretty good mage hunters and have the Tri attack, which is gimmicky, but a good way to sometimes annihilate the end bosses. Heath is just a general that flies, especially if he didn't level up his speed. It also doesn't help that he is weighted down by everything above an iron lance with only 9 speed for the longest time.

Florina, Kent and Sain have their Lyn's story stats on the screen instead of default E/H stats. Skipping Lyn's story cripples most of it's characters. Especially Wil and Lyn are night and day. Wil is around 2-3 stars, as he can one round pegasus knights and deal heavy damage to other enemies, while Lyn is easily 3-4 stars when she joins around level 10, one rounding everything, even with triangle disadvantage and not dying in 2 hits like default E/H Lyn.

Seeing this just makes me wanna chat unit stuff with mangs, especially since I swear, in several of my runs, growth rates were a lie XD
For example, in one run, Eliwood somehow ended up becoming a rather decent anti-mage unit when he kept getting res growths for some reason, or Dorcas somehow ending up godlike on his own by constantly getting perfect level ups..
Growth rate jank is fun when it happens, and you cannot tell me it hasn't happened to mangs or mekkah before lol
my rebecca got stat blessed, both her speed and attack were over 20 at the end of the game and even her defense/resistance were really high imo(both around 15
My Rebecca was a god when I invested in her. Shed have very little trouble with enemies and was actually my boss sniper. She also maked a good dodge tank in a pinch. But investing into her definitely drags her down

1:42:18 my Jaffar did a solo run of the final chapter and just silenced all of the bosses except the dragon and most of the time a normal crit would've not been enough. I would say the skill isn't that bad :D
Dart a 3 star? Dart is perfect on the player phase, pretty much ensuring a kill, with any axe. And in a Fire Emblem with a abundance of money, the ocean seal literally makes no difference if sold. I filled my convoy with high end weaponry, and still had large quantities of money left. Level Dart up, and he will just shit on Hawkeye.
And on the topic of survivability? He can survive, easily, with that easily maxed speed. Tank a few with with his eh defence. I've always used Dart, and he basically never dies.

Not at all, he's one of my favourites, actually.
He's my favourite unit in all of 7. Guy supported with Priscilla. Priscilla, Raven, and Lucius all supporting each other= everything dies and they are untouched on enemy phase. Heals? We got it. One rounds? We got it. Avoid for days? Check. Status clears? Mhm. Besides, his outfit is so cool. So basic yet it is just 😗👌
I love using Guy
For some reason in my first playthrough Erk just became a dodge tank and proceeded to one round basically everything and so many enemies suicided on him. I had Canas and Pent doing basically the same thing so I had a wall of squishy mages that just worked

Joins in a map where she's roughly 3 Javelins and a Pure Water away from hitting lv.20 thanks to the absolute mess of Monks on the map, and the map contains a promotion item for her.

Farina's biggest investment is the 20,000 required to get her, if you're going to fork that over, 3 Javelins and a Pure Water you probably were never going to use anyway is a small ask to get on average 6 more Hp, 4 more strength 3 more Skill, Speed and Luck, along with 2 more Def and Res. Given that the rest of your army is likely promoted already, its not like those monks are going to be worth letting anybody else kill.

Started a FE7 HHM run - and boy, Guys is my mvp. Don't underestimate him, he can grind up easily and in 17x (pirate chapter) he's THE carry and a good boss killer later on as swordmaster
I mean EVERY unit can be good if s/he can grind, and the thing with Guy is that that he Swordlock and has low mov, still has very nice bases so is very good at early game, but after Raven appears, he has not purpose, unless you really like him.

1:35:54 im that type of person, I literally used Sophia on FE6
old i know but Rath should at least be 3 stars since he's around for Genesis and he's the only available mounted unit with a brave weapon in that chapter, and the walls make it so he can actually have a bit on an enemy phase there, so with the brave bow and respectable defenses, hes able to do very nicely there. He's also a good unit in the desert chapter since he gets bonuses on desert terrain, so hes probably the best mounted unit there. Otherwise, he turns into an average unit, although brave bow keeps him from doing poorly and he gets the most out of his promotion from the Orion's Bolt, and you also get one very close from the time he should be promoted, so honestly he's a very respectable unit and shouldnt be ruled out, maybe even better then Louise gameplay wise, since they both can do extremely well at base.
Edit: I realise he's not the only mounted unit in that chapter who can use brave weapons, Marcus can too with the brave axe (not at base but he should have it) but he does get weighed down by quite a lot and doubled i believe, while Rath isnt.
I don't know if I accidentally overleveled Eliwood, or just got insane level ups with him, but he was my MVP for a good chunk of the game. He doubled basically everything he fought, got constant crits, more so than Lyn actually, and just tore a hole through a wide majority of the army every map. I think I just got some good levels with him. Though that IS the issue with Eliwood. If you get his growth rates to cooperate, he's insanely powerful. If his growth's aren't cooperative, he's a liability.
Which mode were you playing?
Maybe normal mode enemy stats made eliwood better earlier than expected
Although there's a limit to what he can do
He is a footswordlord for a mayority of the game so you reach a pint where he is good at killing but slow to get to the fray

As for Heath, I'd just like to point out his CON is 9, and a lot of fliers ain't that bulky, so they tend to take speed penalties a lot harder whereas Heath doesn't have that problem too terribly much.
Seriously though, aren't the Pega-sisters around 4 or 5 CON? I can't recall now but yeah.
Of course, the higher the CON on a flier, the less they can rescue. *shrug*
Still, 9 does not take away TOO much from the rescuing potential while also helping him not loose too much speed.

2:50 Hector is very useful much before the promotion, but in the beginning he is kind of useless in fact. I would at least give him 4/5 for the entire game, however 3/5 makes sense considering the beginning.
I think many people forget that hector is late promoted in hector mode, in eliwood mode he can be promoted very early, and in my first playtrough, even though I only trained him and florina, he wasnt level 20 when i got the promotion. He will very often reach his caps of almost everything except luck and res, which also happened to me. His speed and stat caps are ridiculously high in Great Lord class. Its literally one point away from the swordmaster caps, and thats just dumb. His growth rates arent anything special, but given that he starts as a level 1 unpromoted unit, he´s got more than enough level ups (except for luck and res).
Worried about that 5 move? Just use florina! He´ll be at the boss in an insant. Just make sure she isnt in the range of some very high strenght and skill axe-wielders...
Now do the same for FE6. You know you want to do it. Hard Mode. Mekkah commentary! Tons of fun! Guaranteed!

I always found the Nino hate between these two kind of weird. Even if you are not feeding her, and promote her at lvl 10, she is not really a bad unit. Honestly, leveling her naturally, and not giving her any enhancement items, she is usually still on par with Erk (though her magic is almost always higher) by the Finale.
You are feeding her if Nino gets to level 10 though. She doesn't level naturally.
I know this is kind of chance dependent but hector carried me through my first run of the game.
