Lovely event apart from the unbearable technical issues. There was so much happening that we couldn't see on the stream, also the behind the scenes things. I'm glad both Viper and Hera kept and keep uploading vlogs from this tournament, loved how viper welcomed the crowD with his Spanish greetings haha, and added so many nice moments e.g. the one after Tatoh won and they all stood and chanted together, and on Hera's channel loved the table tennis game vs Daut and then saying "t90 should cast this game". Hahah, and the video where Daut Interviewed any aoe2 people he encountered on hera's channel, roasting the Magougou guy from Fox team was insane 😆 I highly recommend them, check them out

Castillo de Almodóvar del Río (Hisnu-l-mudawar; "the round castle") is a castle of Arab Muslim origin in the town of Almodóvar del Río, Province of Córdoba, Spain. Previously a Roman fort, the current structure is of Arab Umayyad origin, in the year 760. During the Middle Ages, it underwent several renovations and reconstructions. Between 1901 and 1936, it was restored by the owner Raphael Desmaissiers, 12th Count of Torravala, under the technical direction of the architect Adolfo Fernández Casanova. The most important towers are the Cuadrada, the Redonda, and the Homenaje. It is situated 15 miles (24 km) from Córdoba, on the left bank of the Guadalquivir.[1]
(DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE GAME. SPOILER ALERT!) Despite the score which is absolute dominance by Hera, the actual games were actually crazy. How do i put this. Viper almost win in two or three games, but somehow, Hera turned the table magically. My favorite match was the second game. Absolute banger, Very, very, very, excited and interesting game. The epitome of the words, "comeback is real."
The second game was incredible, but the long technical break totally ruined it. It killed The Viper's momentum and gave Hera a long time to think about a strategy. I understand that it was not Hera's fault that the game went down. But honestly with such a long pause the refs should have ended the game and given the win to the highest score. It would suck either way, but that would be the closest to keeping with the spirit of RTS eSports.
T90: "Wouldn't it be fun to be that good"? That quote is so true. You bring a sense of realism to a battlefield(game). Your witty, intuitive, and wise council has always been on point. You got me back into playing a game i had thought no one else was even interested in, let alone an active community. Thank you for all the time you have worked to keep this wonderful game alive and thriving. Dave: you are a great caster but... I get favoring a player, please at least try to balance it a bit better. That said, amazing job. Your energy and expressiveness create an exciting atmosphere. It would not have been complete without you here. You & T =great combo.
who was dave favouring? Also, I would consider appropriate that one of the two commentators stays more super partes, while the other gives more personal opinions (everyday story in footbal/soccer casting here in Italy). Moreover, I would again assume that commentators would hope in the direction of more matches, to get more entertainment, so they would be more or less explicitely skewed towards favouring the losing side.
Genuinely appreciate RB for hosting the event, and I can't imagine where can be more suitable for this medieval game took place in this medieval castle on hill !
Patrol micro? Patrol exploit you meant to say. Even calling out the guy who taught him the exploit in his victory speech...kinda shameless if you ask me.
Call it however you like. It was allowed. Why not use all the mechanics that the game offers you? The devs should probably fix it though @@gammelfleisch6049
@@gammelfleisch6049The trick was explicitly considered legal by the rules of the tournament, literally every pro knew about it, it has been there for years and even Viper said it in the tweet he had to make bc ignorant internet swines like you were trashing on Hera unfairly

Thank You @REDBULL you're amazing for hosting AOE game tournaments!! Maybe next year we can add "Age Of Empires Online 'project celeste'" to the game pool, that would be epic!!!!!!
Fantastic event, loved it! Unfortunate with technical issues, but other than that it was awesome! Beautiful setup in the castle, where every detail was considered, crowd was great and the cast was the best! Even if I cheered for Viper, there's no doubt Hera is a worthy winner, he is just a league above the others at the moment. Viper played well and should feel good in the end with his tournament!
Wow this is fantastic! Such an epic match and everything organized so perfectly, with great hosts who really know what they're talking about and an infectuous athmosphere in the playing hall. Thanks for sponsoring AoE2!
Big congrats to the winner! If you read this, don’t be put down by people saying you use ”scummy” tactics. Patrol moves like this have been used a lot already, and has a fair counter, area damage, a single scorpion could have hit like 30 units. The opponent also used ”unfair” stone wall advantage. It’s what make tournaments great, secret tricks saved until when it matters the most. Honestly a perfect final between legends, both deserving of winning.
Yeah is stupid. If a unit has stats then the game is designed by those stats. You break that law, you break the game. I don't mind Hera using it, but i don't enjoy it either. A real sportsmanship player wouldn't use such glitches to win. And i don't care if it was for long time, or compare to deleting the mangonel. If the game is not intended to be played like this, then maybe it shouldn't be allowed. It feels to me like someone playing football would throw earth with the foot to their opponents. Is it really fair?
@@mormril It's not unfair if both people can use the same tactics. If it breaks part of the gameplay you should avoid it next game. It should indeed be fixed but it's not unfair, it just makes the game worse.
@@agrippa5643 Then I’ll compare it to doing the very same thing with ranged units. You can stack up like 30 xbows in a single tile, and all can still fire through each other, making knights completely useless. Now the secrets out and other pros can do the same thing. But yes, it would be nice to have this and all other pathfinding issues fixed. The more ugly ways we can use it the more pressure we put on the devs to do so. It’s not a glitch though. If Hera had used the Lithuanian infinite relic glitch, then yes, he should be disqualified. But this stacking thing has been known for long. It was mostly busted in the Franks-Portu game as well, which he lost. And the reason to it was that Viper basically used a map bug that favored his position. Which also was OK, we can’t go full VAR on Aoe2…
Viper played really really well. Its hard to know where he could have done better. I don't think Viper has lost any skill. He is a champion. Hera is just so honed in on his strats, drafting and finding his win condition every single game and he sacrifices nothing for it. He still has the micro to keep up.
I really appreciated the setting with the castle and imho the ladder qualification is a great idea to easy include the community. Although i can understand the pros complains. I think a ladder qualification may help to improve/fix ladder if done more regularly as it puts a spotlight on the issues such as smurfing, dropping/avoiding maps, cheating in general and helps to increase activity. Loved to hear Nili and Jordan, see heartt, Seba & others live on stage
Thank you Red Bull for the awesome event! Production quality including all the costumes and little details and also the great scenery were a joy to watch!
The only shortcoming was that the audience directed the players with their voices, especially VIPER, because many viewers came. It made it possible for the sneaky moves to be noticed at the slightest increase in volume.
Hera could become the best of all time if he isn't already. But the greatest of all time I don't think so. You could even feel it within the crowd. As a person, he just isn't Viper's level and will hardly ever get there. He just isn't the gentleman guy as Viper. This of course depends on personal terms and opinions, but for me being a goat means being humble and respectful to everyone which Hera is not always (outpost rushing, beef with MbL,...). But he brought AoE to an incredible level and deserves huge respect in an e-sports perspective. Was a great tournament! :)
As korean IMO GOAT is iamgrunt. Though he retired over 10 years ago, his performance was invincible at that time. If he had used english fluently, he could have replaced viper or hera position.
Yeah this isn’t discussed but I think is on a lot of people’s minds. I’ve no doubt Hera will win more games and tournaments than TheViper eventually. But TheViper has comradeship with his three best buddies, daut tatoh and Jordan. He invented the “mastapizza” where he just has fun in games. He trolls people and it’s fun. TheViper’s goal was never to be the best, it was to enjoy himself and make it enjoyable for those around him. He makes memes like “WHERE’s MY TEAM?!” That’s what makes him the GOAT and I don’t think his GOAT status will never be revoked. But as you said, Hera has taken the game to another level and deserves his place as the best player. Would love to see peak viper vs. peak Hera.
I reckon it's mostly just a generational thing. The people in the audience are older fans for the most part, they probably watched the Viper in his prime and for many that was probably their introduction to the pro scene. Younger people getting into the game in the last couple years will see Hera's domination without the historical baggage and they'll think of him as the goat. It's only natural
I don't think being the greatest requires that. I would also never say that Hera lacks any sportsmanship. He is the best actually. However he and theViper have little to zero Aura in comparison to Tatoh and Daut as I seen on the event
The Armenian champion build was so innovative it blindsided the Viper and t90. Nobody at the highest level except Hera knew the Armenian mainline champions were that strong. This play broke new ground and turned the tables.
Yeah good one putting the player names in the video title and having the thumbnail of the players. I was navigating through your page to try and find the day 3 live to catchup and now the results are spoiled.
Congrats to Hera he played exceptionally well! I still agree that using an exploit isn't cool. Obviously it wasn't forbidden and Viper could have used it as well but some things are just a matter of pride and honor. Hera would have won regardless, since he is just an amazing player so using this exploit just tainted his victory and further established Viper as a beloved player of the community. Congrats to Hera he was the better player. Deserved victory of his as I said and the outcome would have been the same, however, him proudly pointing out the person who taught him how to use the exploit in his VICTORY SPEECH...kinda shameless if you ask me but I guess that's where opinions differ. Even so, Viper still is the GOAT without a Daut. And remeber he still performs at the very top of the scene even with a newborn at his side. Truly one of a kind. Also, thank you Redbull.
I tuned in to finals today going "hm I wonder who it is" and to no one's surprise, it was Hera vs TheViper. I feel like we've been seeing a lot of them lately in final rounds-- not that I'm complaining. It's awesome to see them compete!
Thank you Red Bull for the tournament and congrats to Hera!! But please get a back-up internet option or something so those long pauses aren't necessary, ahah - game 2 was maybe the best but there was a long pause in the middle. :-/ (Long pauses due to internet issues might give an advantage to the defender because part of what the attacker might be banking on is momentum and the partial confusion of the defender due to the unexpected method of attack, etc.) Otherwise, spectacular tournament!!
It's incredible that Viper was able to compete at such a high level after being away with his baby and not being able to commit to the grind. GGs to everyone!
Hera is the best atm, but using scummy tactics with the stand ground patrol for the units to stack just felt wrong and scummy. It completely stole a game from the Viper, along with the constant pauses that allowed Hera to get champions out. But hera was the overall better player
@@Astelch agreed, tactically I think Hera is stronger, as Viper still uses old plays. But viper also showed he can come up with great plays, his constant harassment with small bands devouring Heras attention, avoiding the middle and making it useless by focusing on the flank. This tournament should have been much closer if not for the mentioned above, the stand ground patrol shouldn't have been allowed, it's effectively a bug in the game being used to exploit.
Am I the only one thinking that the final score is not accurate to reveal how close the series really was? In past series we saw how Hera obliterated Viper at every step of the game, this series was much closer than previous ones. Congrats Hera for that great level, but still Happy to see Viper growing to a similar but still inferior level. They both are way above every other player...what amazes me about Viper is to provide this level of show agains peak Hera...but doing the same agains Lierrey, Tatoh and Daut when they were there too...In My opinion, what's amazing about The Viper is being able to be the guy to beat, even against best moments for other players...more than 10 years and counting. Hera seems to have mastered every part of the game, let's see if in the future, Vipers strategy manages to take some Tier S tournaments from Hera's hands.
Seeing this Castle with the surrounding vegetation I immediately think of the Mediah and Valencia castles and fortifications in Black Desert Online. :D
The technical glitches with stand ground and unit exploits badly need patched. This does NOT draw people to the game, this just makes them want to quit.
Please don't put the names of the players in the finals / semis, it spoils the results of the earlier matches for anyone who comes to watch the series later.
The technical issues bothered me at home. Imagine that for the live viewers and the players, right in the heat of the moment. Considering that you guys gathered the best from the AOE2 scenario...
It really wasnt that important. After all, all of them were familiar with patrol attack stance. Viper was watching phosphoru video live on stream about that. But we must admit it, even if we all love vipah, hera is just too good. Micro macro every aspect is just pure magic. If you go and watch replay hindustani berber match with crucial hera attack on viper just before imperial camels, notice castle fire at that time. Hera had time to micro one camel into castle fire missing every shot(2:29:34). That kind of situation just shows hera's domination. Congrats Hera..ggwp
Personally I thought it was scummy to use the no attack patrol, I get that it's part of the game but it's essentially a bug and not intended to be part of the game
@@neildutoit5177 Same principles that made him abuse the Monaspa bug in order to melt Villese's Imp TC back in Warlords 2? Talk about coping... Not shading Viper for using the Monaspa bug btw, if something's in the game, players are free to use it.
Can someone explain what was so special about Viper's stone wall that went through some stone on the map? It looked to me like he was just saving 5-10 stone, but they were talking like he had found a new strat? Does that map not allow walls and this was a bug or something? Very confused
@@ar1sm70 They confirmed one as either a disconnect from the observer with a GG right after by TheViper or a full disconnect with TheViper GGing after the disconnect because the game was very much so over. The rest where all not commented on, or noted as a "player pause" without any evidence or further clarification. The stream had some issues too. Also the AoE4 gameplay looked like it was on low graphics, on top of that it lagged like crazy and there were huge compression artifacts in the stream. For how much money was spent on this you'd really expect better.
I hope this was the first and last time I had to see the chainsaw cavpatrol, that was disgusting and shouldn't happen in the final of the biggest tourney in the year. It's not a feature, it's a bug and idk why hera thought of it as a secret legal strategy and not of what it us: a bug.
If that's a bug, then stacking 30 Archers in 1 tile and preventing the Melee units from hitting them properly is a bug too and yet everyone does it. Just as they did the Mangonel delete trick before it was patched and so many other things. It's part of the game and everyone knows it, so unless it's patched then everyone is free to do it.
Man, the trick with the stacked camels in game #4 was disgusting, maybe he would have won the game anyway but still, just use "pepperonipizza" next time while you are at it

Amazing Tournament well produced and very entertaining to watch. Congratulations to Hera !! Well deserved. gg wp
Just because the castle was from middle ages doesn't mean you had to have internet connection from middle ages too
Great event! Love the Dave & T90 casting.
Hera vs The Viper is always a masterpiece to watch.
Love Vipers glasses pull down in the thumb nail, but i guess it wasn't enough
Very nice event, great players and insane matches. Thank you
Loved seeing Jordan being a commentator between games
Great games! Enjoyed the live stream so much.
I tuned in to finals today going "hm I wonder who it is" and to no one's surprise, it was Hera vs TheViper. I feel like we've been seeing a lot of them lately in final rounds-- not that I'm complaining. It's awesome to see them compete!
The King is a dad. Long Live the king
Are you the prince?
LittleViper shall reign suppreme when his time comes
Thank you Red Bull for the tournament and congrats to Hera!! But please get a back-up internet option or something so those long pauses aren't necessary, ahah - game 2 was maybe the best but there was a long pause in the middle. :-/ (Long pauses due to internet issues might give an advantage to the defender because part of what the attacker might be banking on is momentum and the partial confusion of the defender due to the unexpected method of attack, etc.) Otherwise, spectacular tournament!!
We need more of these. That set up was unreal
Why do they keep skipping gameplay? Pause at 7 minutes and back into the game at 10 minutes?
It's incredible that Viper was able to compete at such a high level after being away with his baby and not being able to commit to the grind. GGs to everyone!
guys RB completely nailed it. This event was huge! this will bring new players to the community and boost it's growth.
What an amazing event, thank you RedBull!!
Hera is the best atm, but using scummy tactics with the stand ground patrol for the units to stack just felt wrong and scummy. It completely stole a game from the Viper, along with the constant pauses that allowed Hera to get champions out. But hera was the overall better player
@@JW-jd6sn scummy? Shut up you clown. That's part of the game like everything else such as laming, micro, quick walling.
yea not sure if he intended that but overall tactically he outplayed viper. Viper was always playing catchup
Lmao pros have been using exploits like that forever. I remember back when everyone was using the mangonel trick.
@@JW-jd6sn nah wrong, hera just plays meta. Nothing tactical about that. he is a boring player who is milking the fan base with is scammy practices
The first game dropping in a red bull LAN pro tournament is wild. How is it even possible
What a game! Kudos to Viper and Hera for an amazing game 🙌😊
That Champion spam was crazy. Viper just had to sit there and watch them overwhelm him.
Congratulations Hera 👏👏👏
This has been an excellent aoe2 event! The only thing that was negative to my experience was T90 having to comment the final. Dave is the best!
not surprised, hera is insanely good, been watching his games for years
Two really nice people, some great games.
Con la.bandera Argentina ! Que genio ! 🇦🇷
GG Hera, definitely best player at this moment
With T90 its so much fun. VERY Good Play from both the Players ❤
A very fun thing to watch, thanks!
Congratz, Hera.
Thanks Red Bull!
The baton has officially been passed
Seeing this Castle with the surrounding vegetation I immediately think of the Mediah and Valencia castles and fortifications in Black Desert Online. :D
The technical glitches with stand ground and unit exploits badly need patched. This does NOT draw people to the game, this just makes them want to quit.
Please don't put the names of the players in the finals / semis, it spoils the results of the earlier matches for anyone who comes to watch the series later.
qual o tamanho desses monitores, alguem sabe informar?
qual o tamanho ideal para se jogar em casa?
I am so proud of you Hera. You deserved it!
The technical issues bothered me at home. Imagine that for the live viewers and the players, right in the heat of the moment. Considering that you guys gathered the best from the AOE2 scenario...
All is great by why the spoiler thumbnail. I was still at the group stages 😢
Hera lost that game so nothing we can do
Nothing stopping Viper using it as well.
@@buddhikawexcept principles
@@neildutoit5177 Same principles that made him abuse the Monaspa bug in order to melt Villese's Imp TC back in Warlords 2? Talk about coping... Not shading Viper for using the Monaspa bug btw, if something's in the game, players are free to use it.
you are right - it mus be fix.
Can someone explain what was so special about Viper's stone wall that went through some stone on the map?
It looked to me like he was just saving 5-10 stone, but they were talking like he had found a new strat?
Does that map not allow walls and this was a bug or something?
Very confused
1:17:55 the reason you wanna build a castle there is because it deals 25% more damage
Economy of Canada🇨🇦 after this match: 📈📈
excellent event! thanks to everyone involved!
Don’t put the names of the players in the title 😡
Man 2nd game Hera 1 TC and 10 villagers ahead + relics pretty sick
Next they should ad stunts with medieval fights recreations!
Can anyone tell me why the Game gets constantly paused and they dont even know what it is? Connection problems?
It wasn't the players pausing, it was a technical issue, but I don't think they specified exactly what it was.
Amazing Job Hera!
sick event, great job hera! fun tourney to watch
@@ar1sm70totally agree
I agree. So ugly
timestamp pls
Totally agree, typical hera though.
Man, the trick with the stacked camels in game #4 was disgusting, maybe he would have won the game anyway but still, just use "pepperonipizza" next time while you are at it
