Assalam Waleikum As a Japanese converted Muslim, I really feel him. My family, especially my mother, is practical Shintoist (Japanese traditional polytheism). After my conversion, she said “my son became a terrorist! ”, I wasn’t waiting for such a strong word, but she never left her birth town speaking zero foreign language so…One day she served me a bacon carbonara then I said “but…this is carbonara” “yeah as you liked when you were kid” “yeah I used to”. Years later, alhamdoulillah my mother just got used to me being Muslim and asks me like “when is the next Ramadan ?”. I’ve traveled a lot and now am living in an European country as an immigrant. What I see objectively now is Japan is one of the most conservative country, maybe more than China or South Korea. Not only my mother but also my friends were like “so you don’t eat any meat now…?” The problem is in my opinion ultimately simple : just ignorance. No mater which Abraham religion, or physical difference whatnot, Japanese people are too introvert and not trying to see another world. I’m NOT trying to force them to understand but to let them be interested in what Islam is or difference is. Basically we all hope the peace.

I had the honour of studying with this brother in Damascus (al-fath institute). It was so sad to hear the Imam say the most difficult part of being a Japanese Muslim currently was not having the company and friendship of other Muslims. In Sha Allah, things change over the next few years and the Muslims in Japan regardless of their ethnicity consciously reach out to one another and try to forge strong bonds. Community and friendship play a key role in Islam.

الحمدلله When I lived in Japan I used to pray in this gyoutoku masjid and met several times shaykh Ahmad Maeno san. He and some people are doing great stuff in Japan for the da3wa and activities. May الله increase their Iman and reward them for that.

Its interesting how he talks about the nafs in a very Buddhistic kind of way, as only this ego which is a distraction from the True self etc. We do sometimes use it like this in Islam too but we dpnt only see this aspect because its something that can be weilded for good too, Umar RA spoke to his Nafs in a good way sometimes lol, and in the Muwatta he said I will show these people my Nafs when he went into battle against the odds, other times its only Ego and we have to be careful with it.. But this Imam is only talking about that aspect because I think he kinda was trained to only be aware of the nafs as something to completely detach from, from his time reading Buddhism etc.. Muhammad said in many places that he has been "ordered by Allah to fight men until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is his messenger." He inspired his men to war with the basest of motives using captured loot, sex and a gluttonous paradise as incentives. He beheaded captives, enslaved children and raped women captured in battle. And now all human beings are told to emulate Muhammad? If you legitimately believe that this is the right path for you, then i really don’t know what else to say other than what the Quran says: “It is the inevitable decree of your Lord that every one of you will be taken to hell.” - Quran (Chapter 19 Verse 71)
This video series is absolutely beautiful and makes me tear up every time I listen to these stories. It causes me to have so much introspection and reflection and patience with the seemingly small problems I have in my life. Watching this video made me cry. I cry and feel disappointed of myself that I should be grateful and practice Islam more proudly. I just knew there are so many “converts” out there, finally coming to Islam and facing way way more hardships than we do and it’s so beautiful to see them fight through their hardships with pure sincerity and love for islam. I live in Capetown South Africa where Islam is very strong and vibrant. We are a community based society and I feel for the young Sheigh in Japan who sadly don't have that luxury. We Muslims here in the fairest Cape are far from perfect but we care and share each other's burdens and neighbors are in large parts treated as extended family. Our generosity is also extended to other faiths because we are taught that ppl are either your brother in faith or your brother in humanity.

As a Japanese converted Muslim, I really feel him. My family, especially my mother, is practical Shintoist (Japanese traditional polytheism). After my conversion, she said “my son became a terrorist! ”, I wasn’t waiting for such a strong word, but she never left her birth town speaking zero foreign language so…One day she served me a bacon carbonara then I said “but…this is carbonara” “yeah as you liked when you were kid” “yeah I used to”.
Years later, alhamdoulillah my mother just got used to me being Muslim and asks me like “when is the next Ramadan ?”.
I’ve traveled a lot and now am living in an European country as an immigrant. What I see objectively now is Japan is one of the most conservative country, maybe more than China or South Korea. Not only my mother but also my friends were like “so you don’t eat any meat now…?”
The problem is in my opinion ultimately simple : just ignorance. No mater which Abraham religion, or physical difference whatnot, Japanese people are too introvert and not trying to see another world. I’m NOT trying to force them to understand but to let them be interested in what Islam is or difference is. Basically we all hope the peace.
Don't worry brother if they are your true friends they will accept you in any religion and don't feel lonely because Allah is with you and you will appreciate your decision after life..and at last pray for your mother to accept Islam and never ever disrespect to her....

I had the honour of studying with this brother in Damascus (al-fath institute). I remember one of our teachers singled out Ahmed and he said "it will be on the shoulders of people like you that Islam will be revived".

It's kinda funny seeing how I see some people recommend books about philosophy, ritual, hobbies, and things like that, saying it really helped them, things that Islam already fulfilled for us. It's guidance after all. Those without guidance might make it till the end, but the state of their condition would be different than those with guidance.

"Just because me and your mom are Muslims, it doesn't mean you are also a Muslim... You must choose it, with what you already have, that's with your mind and conscience... so you will have a strong reason for why are you Muslim."

Who is Allah?
Allah is an Arabic term our creator for “q God.” It is a contraction of al-ilah (“the god”; al = “the” / ilah = “god”).
Although Allah was one of the many deities of the pre-Islamic, polytheistic Arabs, he was apparently considered the highest god in the pagan pantheon and the creator of the world. M0hammad followed an Arab group called the Sabians in proclaiming that Allah is the only true God. A characteristic description of Allah is found in Qur’an 59:22-24:
He is Allah besides Whom there is no god; the Knower of the unseen and the seen; He is the Beneficent, the Merciful. He is Allah, besides Whom there is no god; the King, the Holy, the Giver of peace, the Granter of security, Guardian over all, the Mighty, the Supreme, the Possessor of every greatness. Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him). He is Allah the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner; His are the most excellent names; whatever is in the heavens and the earth declares His glory; and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
NOTE:
1. Allah is not a Trinity (Surah 4:171; Surah 5:73; Surah 5:116);
2. Allah says he is a Father to no one (Surah 5:18; Surah 19:88-93; Surah 21:26);
3. Allah says he has no love for unbelievers (Surah 3:32); and
4. Allah says he is the “best of deceivers” (Surah 3:54; Surah 8:30).
SCRIPTURES MENTIONING THAT GOD IS A FATHER.
Let’s take a look at the groundwork that Judaism and Christianity lay regarding God as Father. The God of the Bible is indeed a Father to His people. From both the Old and New Testament Scriptures we see God revealing and describing Himself as a Father. Here are some examples taken from the New International Version. [5]
1) Deut. 32:6 - "Is this the way you repay the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is he not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?
2) Psalms 2:7 - "I will proclaim the decree of the LORD : He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father.
3) Isaiah 63:16 - "But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.
4) Matthew 6:9 - "This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,'"
5) John 20:17 - "Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
6) Romans 8:15 - "For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."
On the other hand, the Qur'an denies God’s Fatherhood: Surah 5:18 And (both) the Jews and the Christians say: "We are the children of Allah and His loved ones." Say: "Why then does He punish you for your sins?" Nay, you are but human beings, of those He has created, He forgives whom He wills and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and to Him is the return (of all).

It was so sad to hear the Imam say the most difficult part of being a Japanese Muslim currently was not having the company and friendship of other Muslims. In Sha Allah, things change over the next few years and the Muslims in Japan regardless of their ethnicity consciously reach out to one another and try to forge strong bonds. Community and friendship play a key role in Islam.
That was really painful for me to hear too. Especially since community is one of the things I love most about Islam. I will make duaa for this man, his family, and everyone else in the same position

Its interesting how he talks about the nafs in a very Buddhistic kind of way, as only this ego which is a distraction from the True self etc. We do sometimes use it like this in Islam too but we dpnt only see this aspect because its something that can be weilded for good too, Umar RA spoke to his Nafs in a good way sometimes lol, and in the Muwatta he said I will show these people my Nafs when he went into battle against the odds, other times its only Ego and we have to be careful with it.. But this Imam is only talking about that aspect because I think he kinda was trained to only be aware of the nafs as something to completely detach from, from his time reading Buddhism etc.. What? Muhammad had people killed for insulting him or for criticizing his religion and this included women and children. Muhammad said in many places that he has been "ordered by Allah to fight men until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is his messenger." He inspired his men to war with the basest of motives using captured loot, sex and a gluttonous paradise as incentives. He beheaded captives, enslaved children and raped women captured in battle.
And now all human beings are told to emulate Muhammad? If you legitimately believe that this is the right path for you, then i really don’t know what else to say other than what the Quran says:
“It is the inevitable decree of your Lord that every one of you will be taken to hell.” - Quran (Chapter 19 Verse 71)

I live in Capetown South Africa where Islam is very strong and vibrant. We are a community based society and I feel for the young Sheigh in Japan who sadly don't have that luxury. We Muslims here in the fairest Cape are far from perfect but we care and share each other's burdens and neighbors are in large parts treated as extended family. Our generosity is also extended to other faiths because we are taught that ppl are either your brother in faith or your brother in humanity.

١٦٣﴾ وَإِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ ۖ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ الرَّحِيمُ
163. Your God is one God. There is no god but He, the Compassionate, the Merciful.” Quran chapter 2:163
٢﴾ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ
2. Allah. There is no god but He-the Living, the Eternal.” Quran 3:2
١﴾ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَجَعَلَ الظُّلُمَاتِ وَالنُّورَ ۖ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ
1. Praise be to Allah: Who created the heavens and the earth, and made darkness and light. Yet those who disbelieve ascribe equals to their Lord.” Quran 6:1
٢﴾ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّنِي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِيرٌ وَبَشِيرٌ
2. That you shall worship none but Allah. “I am a warner to you from Him, and a deliverer of good news.”
﴿٣﴾ وَأَنِ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ يُمَتِّعْكُمْ مَتَاعًا حَسَنًا إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى وَيُؤْتِ كُلَّ ذِي فَضْلٍ فَضْلَهُ ۖ وَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ كَبِيرٍ
3. “And seek forgiveness from your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance. He will grant you a good provision for a stated term, and He will bestow His grace on every possessor of virtue. But if you turn away: then I fear for you the punishment of a formidable Day.”
﴿٤﴾ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
4. “To Allah is your return, and He is capable of everything.”Quran 11:2-4
﴿١﴾ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
1. Say, “He is Allah, the One.
﴿٢﴾ اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ
2. Allah, the Eternal.
﴿٣﴾ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
3. He begets not, nor was He begotten.
﴿٤﴾ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
4. And there is none comparable to Him.”Quran 112:1-4
٢﴾ ذَٰلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لَا رَيْبَ ۛ فِيهِ ۛ هُدًى لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
2. This is the Book in which there is no doubt, guidance for the righteous.” Quran 2:2
٢﴾ كِتَابٌ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ فَلَا يَكُنْ فِي صَدْرِكَ حَرَجٌ مِنْهُ لِتُنْذِرَ بِهِ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
2. A Scripture was revealed to you, so let there be no anxiety in your heart because of it. You are to warn with it-and a reminder for the believers.” Quran chapter 7:2
١﴾ الر ۚ كِتَابٌ أُحْكِمَتْ آيَاتُهُ ثُمَّ فُصِّلَتْ مِنْ لَدُنْ حَكِيمٍ خَبِيرٍ

QUR'AN AND MUHAMMAD SAID ABOUT WOMEN.
WOMEN ARE DOGS, ASSES, CAMELS AND SEX SLAVES, AND MAJORITY IN HELL ARE WOMEN.
Quran (4:11) - (Inheritance) "The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females" (see also verse
4:176 ). In Islam, sexism is mathematically established.
Quran (2:282) - (Court testimony) "And call to witness, from among your men, two witnesses. And if two men be not found then a man and two women." Muslim apologists offer creative explanations to explain why Allah felt that a man's testimony in court should be valued twice as highly as a woman's, but studies consistently show that women are actually less likely to tell lies than men, meaning that they make more reliable witnesses.
Quran (2:228) - "and the men are a degree above them [women] "
Quran (5:6) - "And if ye are unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it" Men are to rub dirt on their hands, if there is no water to purify them, following casual contact with a woman (such as shaking hands).
Quran (24:31) - Women are to lower their gaze around men, so they do not look them in the eye. (To be fair, men are told to do the same thing in the prior verse).
Quran (2:223) - "Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will..." A man has dominion over his wives' bodies as he does his land. This verse is overtly sexual. There is some dispute as to whether it is referring to the practice of anal intercourse. If this is what Muhammad meant, then it would appear to contradict what he said in Muslim (8:3365) .
Quran (4:3) - (Wife-to-husband ratio) "Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four" Inequality by numbers.
Quran (53:27) - "Those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names." Angels are sublime beings, and would therefore be male.
Quran (4:24) and Quran (33:50) - A man is permitted to take women as sex slaves outside of marriage. Note that the verse distinguishes wives from captives ( those whom they right hand possesses).
Sahih Bukhari (6:301) - "[Muhammad] said, 'Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?' They replied in the affirmative. He said, 'This is the deficiency in her intelligence.' "
Sahih Bukhari (6:301) - continued - "[Muhammad said] 'Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?' The women replied in the affirmative. He said, 'This is the deficiency in her religion.'" Allah has made women deficient in the practice of their religion as well, by giving them menstrual cycles.
Sahih Bukhari (2:28) & Sahih Bukhari (54:464 ) - Women comprise the majority of Hell's occupants. This is important because the only women in heaven mentioned explicitly by Muhammad are the virgins who serve the sexual desires of men.
(A weak Hadith, Kanz al-`ummal , 22:10, even suggests that 99% of women go to Hell).
Sahih Muslim (4:1039) - "A'isha said [to Muhammad]: ' You have made us equal to the dogs and the asses' " These are the words of Muhammad's favorite wife, complaining of the role assigned to women under Islam.
Abu Dawud (2:704) - "...the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: When one of you prays without a sutrah, a dog, an ass, a pig, a Jew, a Magian, and a woman cut off his prayer, but it will suffice if they pass in front of him at a distance of over a stone's throw."
Abu Dawud (2155) - Women are compared to slaves and camels with regard to the "evil" in them.
Tabari Vol 9, Number 1754 - "Treat women well, for they are [like] domestic animals with you and do not possess anything for themselves." From Muhammad's 'Farewell Sermon'.

islam is the only religion who legitimate killing (spilling blood) of who they consider as islam enemies. How could people consider it peaceful? In Indonesia if a muslim converted to Christianity, they even got worse punishments, discrimination, and intimidation.
