ME TOO, I wish they would write a comment or two UNDER the comments here, like most other reactors do, especially if they asked a question of all of us. At least we KNOW that they SAW it, and stand corrected, OR let us know that they got the information they asked for.
"Don't Come Around Here No More" and "Into the Great Wide Open" are both great songs and great videos from Tom Petty. He was such a great story teller through his lyrics and videos.
I think what you may have missed in the video is that George Harrison and Ringo Starr (drums)of The Beatles are part of the performance band, along Jeff Lynne of ELO! He's the one with curly hair and sunshades. Jeff also produced the song
Tom Petty had a distinctive speaking voice. If you haven’t already reacted to it, I suggest the live Bob Dylan anniversary recording of “My Back Pages” at Madison Square Garden. Tom Petty is a part of the performance. Along with several other people who you may not recognize but have sold tens of millions of albums each 🤣Could be a fun game to see if you know who they are as you watch it.
In this video there is 3 fifths of the Traveling Wilbury's in Tom, Jeff Lynn, and George Harrison, half of the Beatles with George, and Ringo Starr, and 2 fifths of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, with Tom and Mike Campbell. This song came from one of the greatest albums ever called Full Moon Fever. It was Tom's first solo album, and he made it with mainly Jeff Lynn and Mike Campbell. The rest of the heartbreakers did play on the album, most of them had a huge problem with how Jeff Lynn produced music, he would track each part separately instead of the whole band recording at once. It was so bad that Tom was being told that the other members of the Heartbreakers were saying he was making a bad record and that he had lost his way. Tom even told a story about how their bassist Howie Epstein was sitting outside the studio waiting to come in and lay down the bass track on a song looking annoyed. When Tom came out and apologized that it was taking so long and they were getting to the bass soon. Howie replied it's not the wait, I just don't like the song. Tom said you don't like the song, well if you don't like it, you don't have to play on it. Howie said right, ok and left. The song was Free Fallin'.
You guys like Stevie Nick's you should listen to the live version of Insider with Tom Petty at the concert in Gainesville so so good. Yep George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, & Ringo singing and playing backup.
"I Won't Back Down" was released in April 1989 as the lead single from his first solo album, Full Moon Fever. The song was co-written by Petty and Jeff Lynne, also his writing partner for the album At the session George Harrison sang and played the guitar. The video, directed by David Leland, features Ringo Starr on drums, with George Harrison and Jeff Lynne on guitar. Harrison did play on the track and contributed backing vocals, but Ringo had nothing to do with the song itself. Around this time, Petty was active in the Traveling Wilburys with Lynne, Harrison, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison.
This song has an intriguing origin... A great songwriter and musician... And Tom was also a Travelling Wilbury, with George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison...
The band talked after he passed. Said they would be playing on a song and he would stop and say I just thought of something else! It was always something awesome
Wanna hear his talking voice? He did ten years' worth of radio shows called "Buried Treasure" on Sirius XM where he plays his favorite music. Best rock, rhythm and blues radio programs ever done. And yes, that IS George Harrison, with Jeff Lynn, and Ringo Starr is on drums (and globe, haha!)
Yes, George H. as well as Jeff Lynne on this solo album (only one Heartbreaker on this one, Mike Campbell on guitar). Ringo Starr on drums just to film the video. Also, Tom solo you'll like YOU DON'T KNOW HOW IT FEELS, and his videos are almost always masterful.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne (E.L.O.), Steve Windwood (Traffic, Blind Faith), Dhani Harrison (George's son) and the Purple One himself, PRINCE. They cover George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Prince's guitar solo is a masterpiece! Jay and Amber, you must listen to one.
JAY and AMBER , you must ALSO listen to "WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS" which IS GEORGE HARRISON'S song, from "THE CONCERT FOR GEORGE" which took place exactly ONE year after GEORGE DIED. The band is a huge super group made up of PERSONAL musician FRIENDS and EVERY musician George EVER worked with (INCLUDING RINGO STARR, PAUL McCARTNEY and ERIC CLAPTON who PLAYED the GUITAR solo on the ORIGINAL BEATLES version from the "WHITE ALBUM") The whole concert is other musicians and singers performing GEORGE'S SONGS from his BEATLES period and SOLO years. It is a wonderful concert!!
Omg, Tom is my first musical love!!! 🤩🥰 Yep, that was George, and Jeff, and Ringo!!! Full Moon Fever is one of my all-time favorite albums!!! Love is a Lobg Road, Running Down a Dream, and Alright For Now are amazing songs from that album. Here Comes My Girl is probably my all-time fave TP song, but American Girl, Refugee, Breakdown (gotta do the live version!) Don't Come Around Here No More, The Best of Everything, the live version of Needles and Pins with Stevie, and my favorite Stevie collab, Inside are amazing. But I think the Tom song that probably means the most to me personally, is the one I couldn't get out of my head for the 3 days I spent in the hospital before my middle child was born, The Waiting 😊
Love, love, LOVE Tom Petty! Appreciate him even more the older I've gotten and the more time has passed. One of my great regrets is never seeing him in concert. It would be next to impossible to pick a favorite Petty song, but this one is right on up there, along with "Don't Do Me Like That." Also I never hear anyone mention their song called "Change of Heart." No one seems to remember it anymore, but I think it's an underappreciated song and just as good as any of their other hits.
That indeed George Harrison as well as Jeff Lynn and Ringo on drums! The must have been filmed around the time the Traveling Wilburies were collaborating.
There is a singer in Iceland and in one of his songs has a line that says "if you choose the right path that path will be the most difficult one". Life is not easy.
Stevie was a huge fan of his. When first going solo, she told her management, (the same management as his), that she wanted to be like the female Tom Petty. After meeting, they were close friends all the way up to when he passed in 2016. She said at a concert since, he was the only person on this earth who really understood her, artistically, and in life.
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are an amazing band. 2 of their songs you should check out are Don't Do Me Like That [ 1979 ], and Mary Jane's Last Dance [ 1993 ] .
In the years since his passing, Florida football fans have honored one of their own by singing Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" in unison at Gators games in The Swamp. Though Petty never went to the University of Florida, he was a Gainesville native and worked for a time on the university grounds crew. ruclips.net/video/eNmf_zHIGQE/видео.html
There's an awesome video of Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood doing a concert at UF's Swamp where they sing this song. Awesome! 90,000 voices in unison. Also I can't remember what team but we were playing away and Tom had just passed. The fans for the other team started singing this song. Goosebumps.
A must watch is the 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of fame tribute to George Harrison "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" performed by Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Prince, and a bunch of others. I know you guys have reacted to the original, but that performance was one of the all time greats.
ALSO, they SHOULD watch the video when it was performed on "A CONCERT FOR GEORGE" one year to the day that George died, with EVERY musician that GEORGE WORKED WITH and who WERE FRIENDS of GEORGE, plus his SON DHANI, played on "WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS" with ERIC CLAPTON redoing the guitar SOLO AS HE DID on the BEATLES "WHITE ALBUM" version of WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS."
Tom Petty fans are fans for life! There's a version of his song Breakdown that is live.... I have it on my ipod but can't find the version on utube.... It's live... And the audience literally takes over singing it for him because they were so loud... He simply let them... They did in pretty good harmony 7/10 of the whole song... When there was a little musical break from the lyrics he said wow.. You guys are gonna put me out of a job... It was such a touching tribute to the interaction between an audience and artist. I've only seen that kind of appreciation one other time in person at a Niel Young concert.... He just finished heart of gold and the audience gave him the loudest standing ovation for about ten minutes! He tried to address us a few times and couldn't cause of the continued ovation... By the time it quieted down enough he was in tears and visibly moved.... Tom petty and Niel Young fans are like that.... Die hard loyal! 😉
Tom Petty is a genius, unfortunately rock radio station overplayed a few to many of his songs like this one. I really, really suggest American Girl for your next reaction video. You will not be disappointed.
Eric, have to completely disagree, I guarantee you there is a rock station playing I Won't Back Down in every state as I type. The only chance of hearing American Girl right now is to pop in Silence Of The Lambs.

Lol ... I'd love to see your reactions to the comments and finding out that Jeff Lynne (Mr. ELO), George Harrison ( Jay - proud of you man! 👏 ), and Ringo were all in this video!! 😂🤣👍 I would love to see your reactions!! This was GREAT!! @RobSquadReactions
Tom Petty was an amazing artist…legendary! I love this song and video! I spy to two Beatles, George Harrison and Ringo Starr on drums!❤️❤️
Tom Petty Always Loved, Never Forgotten Forever missed
That WAS George Harrison, indeed! Also, Ringo was there with Jeff Lynne!
You know it's a hit when you have 2 members of the freakin Beatles
Ringo Starr playing drums, George Harrison and Jeff Lynn singing backup. Great song!!!
This song has an intriguing origin...
A great songwriter and musician...
And Tom was also a Travelling Wilbury, with George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison...
Yes, sir! That is Jeff Lynn, George Harrison and Ringo Starr in the video with Tom. All but Ringo were in the Travelling Wilburys.
Look who’s playing with him!
The band talked after he passed. Said they would be playing on a song and he would stop and say I just thought of something else! It was always something awesome
George and Ringo and his lead guitar heartbreakers
Tom still had that globe Ringo screwed i to
yes that was George....and Ringo on drums..and Jeff Lynn..my guess is that this was filmed during a Traveling Willburies (sp)session
Several stars were in this. Ringo was spinning the world. The guy next to George…forget his name but someone else will know it…was a guitarist too.
RINGO was ALSO playing the DRUMS, not just spinning the world, lol
@@patticrichton1135 Ya, but I figured they’d remember the guy spinning the world. 😁🙃
He took on the record company's and won..he didn't back down.
George harrison,Jeff Lynn and Ringo all played on that.i think Jeff also produced the album.
2 Beatles + 1 ELO + Tom Petty = vibing
WOW‼️ The absolute LEGENDS playing with him‼️😎👍
Yes, George H. as well as Jeff Lynne on this solo album (only one Heartbreaker on this one, Mike Campbell on guitar). Ringo Starr on drums just to film the video. Also, Tom solo you'll like YOU DON'T KNOW HOW IT FEELS, and his videos are almost always masterful.
Love this tune. My favourite of Tom Petty's is Learning to Fly, also produced and co-written by Jeff Lynne.
We are fortunate that when our rock idols pass into the next world, they leave behind their greatest gift: the music.
I would love you guys to react to Tom's first big hit with the Heartbreakers "Refugee" from Damn the torpedoes 1979
Jeff Lynn, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr all played on that album and we're in that video.
He is sorely missed, my dad was a huge Tom petty fan. "Don't come around here no more" being a personal favorite of mine
2 of their songs you should check out are
Don't Do Me Like That [ 1979 ], and Mary Jane's Last Dance [ 1993 ] .
the dates are off cause i am the true writer of these songs that is just the way it goes sometimes !
I was so fortunate to be growing up in the 70s and 80s listening to all the amazing artists who recorded their first albums during that time
In the years since his passing, Florida football fans have honored one of their own by singing Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" in unison at Gators games in The Swamp. Though Petty never went to the University of Florida, he was a Gainesville native and worked for a time on the university grounds crew. ruclips.net/video/eNmf_zHIGQE/видео.html
Go Gators!!🏈🐊
There are several videos of the crowd singing the song. Go Gators!!
Goosebumps.
@@kathleendoorley4903 I was at that Garth Brooks concert. It was amazing!!
RIP TOM PETTY!!! YOU ARE GREATLY LOVED AND MISSED!!! ❤️😪❣️😪❤️
Great Song Tom Is A Legend Try 'The Waiting" in your Tom Petty Journey! Love you Both ✌️
This song, this group of artists - legends!
A song that you would really enjoy is "Running Down A Dream". Great song with a sweet beat and guitar work. Highly recommend you check it out.
While undergoing cancer treatment this song became my mantra....I'll Stand My Ground and I Won't Back Down.
Petty is great. Please do Wildflowers - it’s quite different than this but beautiful.
My favorite Petty song 🤍
For a moment, I thought it was the Beatles with Petty as a front man.
Tom Petty is a genius, unfortunately rock radio station overplayed a few to many of his songs like this one.
I really, really suggest American Girl for your next reaction video. You will not be disappointed.
Speaking of a song being overplayed...much prefer this one to that.
Eric, have to completely disagree, I guarantee you there is a rock station playing I Won't Back Down in every state as I type. The only chance of hearing American Girl right now is to pop in Silence Of The Lambs.
@@ronbruno5942 down here where I live AG is darn near the only song of his that gets played. We will agree he is a genius. Truly a loss that he is gone. 🍻
Maybe we should trade places😉.
And to TP's genius, Amen, Brother, Amen.
My favorite Tom Petty song! I think they'd love it.
I am pleased to see and hear that you and Amber are the next generation that will carry the torch and keep great music alive. Your channel is exactly what should be preached to keep great music alive. As for the amazing content we just listened to from Tom Petty is amazing, however, you will find that Jeff Lynn from ELO, collaborated immensely on numerous songs performed by Tom Petty.
If you want to see a stage of major icons, check them out (Traveling Wilbury's).
Regards, typhoonchaser
together on stage.
please do "Learning to fly", "the waiting" and "runnin down a dream"
great songs!
Loving the new hair. Light and fresh with just the right amount of sass. Always love your reactions. Your faces are so genuine
You know, I never noticed this, but I think that's Ringo Starr playing drums.
It is. Ringo didn't play on the album, but they brought him in for the video.
Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite songs. I have been in physical pain for over 30 years. This song for me is a song that makes me gather strength for each new day and not back down. 😀💜

Wow, i've seen a lot of recommendation about Barry Silbert, is he really that good.
I make $ 23,450 weekly trading profit with him, I only trust Mr Barry Silbert with my investments. am now able to send my kids to great schools in LA, all thanks to Mr Barry.
His method surprises me. A Friend that I referred to him, just received €50,150 profit after 7days of investing...I became jealous...Lol
Believe me he's the best when it comes to Cryptocurrency trading, your profit is assured.💯
Not only did Jeff Lynne produce the song, but he helped write it, sang and played on it.
TP has the amazing ability to write songs that make you feel he's tapped right into your life & specially wrote a song from your experience. I miss him so much!
Ringo Starr on drums. And yes George Harrison and Jeff Lynn, also in the Traveling Wilburys,
This has always been my very fav Tom Petty song. When it came out I had a lot of reasons to Not back down so I embraced this song.....LOL!!!
Been a fan of this group for a long time, their just great that's all there is to it! Please do more of Tom Petty!
