  • The reverse whip in west coast swing is a good move to learn when you have mastered the beginner patterns. We cover the reverse whip from a basic hand hold as well as a handshake hold. Both are great moves to know once you've moved beyond the basic west coast swing whip.

    Checking in!💃🏽. I can tell how much I’ve learned and improved. I can attest that these video lessons have augmented my private in person lessons and I could really see some strides today! Yay! Dance 💃🏽 of Joy 🤩

      What a great message to read! That's EXACTLY what we strive for. Video lessons can't take the place of good private/group instruction or the feeling of dancing with others BUT that can (and should) be a helpful tool to keep the ball moving. Looks like you're in that groove big time! Keep up the good work :-) -Brian B

    Thank you very much! We love your videos and we've learned so much with them.
    Sometimes it would be helpful, if we could watch your moves from above, for example to realize better, how far the leader leaves the slot to the left or to the right... 😉

      Thank you so much! Haha I don't think we can go from above but we can do a straight on angle. That would show how far. 😊

    Excellent point about keeping tension and demonstrating how the leader can compensate. That has taught me to another clue to remembering that element of dancing. I need a lot of clues!

      Yeah there are always things we can do as leaders to compensate. There are things to do as followers as well. We all just have to keep leveling up our game :-)

    Whenever I try this the follow bumps my right hand out of the way because lifting the left arm is not intuitive. Any pro tips?

    • @WestCoastSwingOnline
      @WestCoastSwingOnline  3 года назад +1

      Good question... The follower has to learn to raise her left hand. Like anything in dancing if you didn't know how to work... it would be confusing :-) My rule of thumb is that the follow should begin to raise her arm when her back is to her partner. That's a good starting point to start to create good instincts. In time this action will be more instinctive as the follower become more comfortable in her role in different patterns. I hope that helps :-) Let me know if you have any more questions or if that didn't clarify it. -Brian
