E T played both and the difference is minimal in my opinion and for the price difference I personally don’t think the tour response is worth the extra money you will pay per dozen at the moment
David todd Got yellow ones on clearance in the spring but only in yellow and the paint wears out super fast but in white I guess that wouldn’t be a problem. Might just be me but I find them a bit mushy for putting. Much prefer Pro V1’s I find in the woods for putting but I should maybe compare them side by side to make sure it’s not just me 😂
Matt's ability to put the same swing on the ball time after time is seriously impressive, even relative to other scratch to plus golfers. It sounds dumb but it's a different skill than hitting the shots as needed out on the golf course and it makes TXG's data much better than other reviewers. He's a machine!
Affordable Urethane cover challenge! Here's a little twist, all balls should be Yellow! Taylormade Tour Response $35 4.6 rating on Amazon, Amazon pricing. Callaway ERC soft triple track $35 4.8 rating Srixon Q Star Tour $32 4.8 rating Titleist Tour Soft $35 4.6 rating or Titleist Trufeel /DT Tru Soft $23 4.6 rating My gamer Great work guys, seems like a lots of fun as well, Love the chemistry between you guys the mad scientists and the human robot! If I had the cash would love to fly out there and get fitted by you guys.
Read my mind guys. Just the video I've been waiting on. Tried them all myself. Carry numbers tp5-167, tp5x-173 and tour response-181. Only tried the 7 iron but was impressed. Not sure how it would fair with the driver.
Thanks for the review! I played on 4.9 with Tour Response. I hit a few TP5’s also to compare. LOVED the tour response. It felt a LITTLE softer and didn’t notice any loss of distance/spin. I’m similar speed and distance with Matt. Thanks again!
I am done playing higher spin balls and have switched to the Tour Response. The lower spin has me finding more fairways and I still have good control around the greens.
Great honest test guys. I play the TP5 ball as I love the feel it gives. But when it comes to late autumn and into and during winter in the U.K, the TP5 doesn’t make much difference on wet courses. So I think the Response would be a good out of season cheaper option for me.
I know this is an old video. And I thank you for this test. Because quite honestly, I experienced the exact same with the newest line for the TaylorMade golf balls. I'm a slower swing speed player. So far this season, I have tried, on course. Tour Response stripe, TP5, and TP5X. I've found the most control and my Best scores, no matter the weather conditions. For me, has been the TP5. Again, you guys do such a fantastic job of analyzing golf balls, equipment, clubs, and, shafts. Keep up the great work!
I'm a bit late to the party for this, but I played Tour Response last year and have bought more for this year. I am a slow swing speed golfer (lowish handicap) and the price was the main factor for me,. I don't think I swing fast enough for the 5x but the psychological thing about losing a premium ball v. a not too expensive one certainly makes me feel a bit better on the course. Keep up the great work. Love the channel!
The lesson I've learned from watching ball tests is that it really doesn't matter. I've played used Bridgestone balls and shot even par and played brand new ProV1s and shot some of my worst rounds ever.
Just came across this video in a google search. Have been playing Tour Response for ages. On a golf tour in Asian - windy, hot, humid. I brought different balls just in case (TR, proV, vice, tp5x). I pulled a TP5x out of the bag and it is flying SO differently to the tour response and prov1x. Penetrating ball flight with little spin and great distance. TR is higher and more effected by the wind. The prov is much lower. I really didnt think there would be that much difference but this trip has me totally sold.
Played Tour Response for the first time today after playing most 2-piece balls (Titleist Tour Soft, for example) and loved it. I'm a budget-conscious golfball buyer, more than anything. One day playing the 3-Piece TR and I'm completely sold.
Great review...I’ve played the TP5x for the last 3-4 years and love the way it plays. It’s a great wind ball, very stable and long...I did test the Tour Response a few weeks ago indoors and played a few holes with it before the Michigan golf lockdown! I’m going to give the Tour Response a go when we get out of the lockdown...Thanks for the comparison!!
Interesting video. Ever thought about doing a video on what affordable ball most resembles a certain premium ball. Something along the line that if you were fit into a pro V1x but are on a budget then x ball is what most resembles it in the affordable range!
You can buy the TP5 /TP5X for the same price of tour response so it makes no sense to play it ... I buy all my balls on Ebay and rarely pay more than 35.00 with shipping included , just bought 2 dozen Brand New TP5 2019 for 59.99 free shipping and it gets cheaper if you buy more quantity or in the winter months ... Retail is for suckers ... Love your content guys ... Thanks
I'm an 18 handicap and was using the TP5 but I found that as the Greens got quicker (very dry winter, Sydney) the TP5 took more break and wouldn't stop when putting. So I thought I would give the Tour Response a go. The ball too me seems a fraction heavier so it holds the line better when putting side hill and I have more feel. My chipping runs out that little bit, which is dependable. I tied for the monthly medal and this Saturday is the playoff, so the Tour Response is doing great for me.
Need some multi-brand golf ball matchups! Have matchups for "premium" balls, another for "budget", and maybe one for the $35-$45 /dozen (CAD). Find a way to give each ball spin and carry scores and rank 'em!
Bought a box after the 1st video. Immediately noticed the difference in spin. Even my hybrids and stopping within a foot of the pitch mark. Bought 2 more dozen. Was using q star tour
I have been using this ball now for a few weeks, I think this ball suits my golf and my pocket perfectly, I actually think this ball has been straighter for me, than prov1's, previously my choice of ball, the balls are predictable on confidently struck shots, and they are resilient, but who am I to judge, HCP 7.5 g.a.
Great video guys. Love your topics covered. Previously bought these tour response ball, plays well. Just tried the Costco Kirkland ball as from your reviews and think these are better value than all 3 balls in this video for me. Have tried them all. It’s plays just as well as all 3 more expensive balls and you can get 2 dozen for $48 / $2 a ball. Much better value for a very slight disparity in performance. This is coming from a 16.2 handicappers opinion in Aus. Keep up the great vids.
Awesome comparison. I just received my custom spider X and after complaining they did not swing weight my putter to D5 they sent me 2 dozen tour response balls. My Spider X came C3 at 32.5 inches. They told me this was built in China and TM doesn’t SW their putters. I had ordered their 12 g weight kit, which got me to C9 and I had to put a lot of lead tape on it to get it to D5, got very creative with the placement of the lead tape so it’s virtually not visible at address. I was curious to see how this ball performs and sure Enough you guys did this test which is exactly what I was looking for. this tour response ball would be perfect for me since my ball speed at my custom fit in February 2019 for my Cobra F9 Speedback (which I no longer have since it wasn’t forgiving enough) was 146.6 mph with a clubhead speed of 98.7 mph indoors on TrackMan at Club Champion. I Believe TrackMan is better in outdoor conditions so what would be the equivalent miles per hour of using GC quad indoors? I have been playing the Snell MTB-X at about $30 a dozen, now I see the Tour Response is selling at $35/ dozen now US currency. Excited to see how these perform
Have played tp5x for a few years as I needed less spin but changed clubs and shafts to help kill spin so I can now play TP5. By far my favorite ball, big thing that separates it for me from prov1 is durability. Titleist tear up for me way quicker than tp5.
Great vid lads. Just switched from Callaway Supersoft to Tour Response. Im one of those who loses 3 or 4 a round 😁 so the price of the TR is good. Was very interested in the urethane cover and have found it great off the face through the bag. Clickier sound too compared to the Supersoft.
I play TP5x. It is getting cold in New York now. I'm thinking that the Tour Response with its lower compression would be a better choice for cold weather golf.
The courses I play out here in California are tight and I can loose 2-3 per round even on decent drives. Something to consider for sure. I’ll try these.
I agree with the last viewer as this must be a replacement for the project (a) ball but I would like to see a comparison between response, snell (mtb), Q star, AVX, and Bridgestone. All 3 piece balls
Got one round in before the lockdown with the TR(yellow). Loved it!! Softer vs. Pro(a) and loved the performance! Seemed to spin a bit more around the greens too. Great ball for the buck!
It reads "Dyanamic Loft (Degrees)" on driver stat page. It doesn't matter to me because typos happen but wanted to point it out in case you are using a standard template for your driver stat page.
Just got a lot of balls. Got 4 dozen soft feel, 5 dozen z star, 3 dozen tour response. 2 dozen Tour b rx. Rx is my favorite ball but I haven’t tried the Taylormade yet
I hit my TP5x golf ball 355yrds(7 yards downhill) with my R15 driver on Friday. I honestly prefer them over the Pro V1's. They feel better, have a better launch angle for my play and have great spin off the wedges...
What this video confirms to me is, TM is making some good golf balls. I have a feeling, once we can golf again, we will see lots of the Rickie's Pix balls out there.
Great comparison testing guys. Appears your setup is to compare within the same brand which is fine , but how about a comparison between brands ... Snell MTB-X is my ball and I’ve been playing Snell for past 3 years, the Direct to consumer model is a no brainer and the Snell MTB-X is an amazing ball, as good as any premium OEM ball from the big golf companies.
This is the direct replacement for the Project (a) ball for 2020. The price for the Tour Response is around the same price as the new 2020 Q Star Tour. I have played both and prefer the Tour Response.
Hey Guys! I was curious as to if you've tested/used the TP5 practice or Pro V1 Practice. I've been told that the only difference from the "non-practice" counterpart is that they had some sort of cosmetic (i.e. paint) difference and had practice stamped on them, and are sold for $30/dozen vs $45-$55/dozen. Considering you can then pay a TP5/TP5x/Pro V1/Pro V1x for a price less than Tour Response or the Titleist counterpart, do you think this is a smart move? They've also been said to be 100% USGA conforming.
My question is for people with slower swings speeds, which is basically the target audience for the Response, would that player see a bigger difference between the balls when swinging the driver and irons? Maybe I will have to pick up a sleeve. I’m playing the Srixon Q Star Tour, and really liking them.
I've played the Tour Response for the last couple of rounds and it is a very good ball. I'm a very good player and it does all the things I want in a golfball for my game. And it's affordable as well.
Shaun King is it pretty much a project a? I bounce between TP5 and proj a. I prefer to use the TP5 but I’ve just started playing again so I lose a handful every full round and the $ is a factor tbh. Some of the courses here in FL are either fairway or lost ball, palmettos/bushes/water are pretty much the “rough” at most of the courses I play. For me I pull out the a’s for the sketchy holes and the TP5s for the nice open ones
@@TRIKushbeachside I would say they r similar but the project a is softer then the tour response and also the proj a spins more then the tour response. But I also play alot of courses in Florida as well. I'm also spin the ball alot as well
TP5 is my choice of ball on the course, but like Matt said it gets expensive when you lose one. Tour Response could get a look at next time I go out on the course.
I would love to see a comparison between recycled golf balls (from a place like Lostgolfballs) and new balls. Of course the condition of the recycled balls varies, so the sample size would have to be high.
When you do the comparison test, can you include the 1/2 wedge shot with a 58/60 degree wedge in the 45 yard range - it is such an important shot in golf and I personally use this shot as a test if I can play a ball.
In looking at this video compared to the Bridgestone BX/BXS one, the 7i ball speed is for all intensive purposes 9-11 mph faster with the Bridgestones compared to the TMs. Can you explain what we're seeing here when trying to compare them? It's the same with the driver test.
Would be interesting to see this test done at the "average swing speed." Tour Response generally aimed at more average players so would be interesting to see how things shake out at slightly slower swing speeds.
Love your content guys especially in these hard times 👍 one thing I don’t agree with is measurement of spin eg 10000 per min and 9500 per min if something is spinning at 167 per second wedge shot approx in air 5 seconds = 835 per shot, compared to 158 per second x 5 = 790 per shot if you think 45 rev will make a difference when it’s spinning at that speed surely it cannot make a difference on the ground . Try spinning a ball in a fixed position at those speeds and let it go would you see a difference 🤷🤷 maybe I’ve been stuck in too long 😂🙄 would love to know your thoughts Ian 👍
Once I've lost all my Project (a) balls this will probably be going in the bag. Depending on your test with the Q Star Tour that is. Matty in his Masters outfit.
Is it possible to get less spin off the driver, more bite on approach shots and around the green? (with one of these balls) or do you prefer something different for that combo...
Tp5x is a fantastic golf ball -. Low spin for me on 2i/3w/D - longest ball I’ve tested - Spins plenty if you know how to impart spin on wedges And they are incredibly durable
Matt hitting it ridiculously consistent. Are we sure he is a real boy? For me, nice comparison, but I'm stuck with my Pearl grade lake balls and pro v1. Its down to price and availability. Your still taking about an expensive ball with Tour Response.
You guys are killing it, hands down the best golf tech vids on RUclips. Thanks for the content during this time!!
If this is a replacement for project (a), it would be nice to see a comparison with that. As it is a price increase from project (a).
E T played both and the difference is minimal in my opinion and for the price difference I personally don’t think the tour response is worth the extra money you will pay per dozen at the moment
Ethan T. I sometimes feel like proj (a) is underrated
Probably the best value for money ball on the market the project a in my opinion
@@Ethan-xq4lr Me too!

what is your swing speed and hcp? that is quite a difference between tp5 and tour response. would you say tour response is much softer too?
Who gives thumbs down on this??? RUclips competitors? You’re breakdowns are always great...
Titleist marketing department lol

Interested to see Tour Response vs.Srixon Q Star Tour
Was just going to post the same thing. I would really like to see that since the Q Star Tour is in my rotation.
I’d also like to see this review!
vs. AVX as well??
Either AVX or the Tour Soft from Titleist
The tour response is more than double the price of the q star tour in Australia. I think a better comparison would be the project a and q star tour.

I would love to see a soft ball battle between Tour Response, Chrome Soft, Q Star tour, Duo Professional.
The chrome soft is comparable to the prov1 and tp5
The Duo professional is amazing in my opinion. Will try these to see if there is a difference.
Yes totally. Also would like to see q star tour vs q star.
I'm using the tour response ball, its fantastic for control and feel.
Robbery at 6:38! Please compare Project a vs Tour Response. Thanks for the continued great content. Stay safe.
I’ve tried the Tour Response and really enjoy them. Thanks for doing an comparison with the TP5 lineup
I bought a dozen before we were shut down in Australia and found the Tour Response performed well in the wind and felt great around the green 👍🏽
Can you guys revisit the Snell MTB Black and MTB-x?
i vote for snell lol. i use and praise MTB black
I second this. Tour Response matched up against Snell MTB Black would be great to see. Premium performance for around $35/dzn would be a no brainer.
You have no idea how long I have been waiting for this . Want a ball change this year
Yes, as long as we get to play!
Throw the 3 piece Costco ball in with the q star and tour response. Or any of those 3 piece premium budget balls
Loved Project (a), and have no concerns moving into Tour Response when I exhaust existing stock
Interesting to see comparisons for mid and slow speed swings
I'm an 18 handicap and was using the TP5 but I found that as the Greens got quicker (very dry winter, Sydney) the TP5 took more break and wouldn't stop when putting. So I thought I would give the Tour Response a go. The ball too me seems a fraction heavier so it holds the line better when putting side hill and I have more feel. Wish I could think of something that wasnt already said.... you guys are the best duo in the business!
Thanks lads, great test. I would love to see the Tour Response vs Bridgestone Tour B RXS if you get a chance. Have a great weekend
Great video guys. If only Matt could tee off with TP5x then approach shot with TP5! Ps Tour Response is $1 cheaper than TP5 in Australia 😂🤷🏼♂️

Looking forward to seeing that Q Star Tour comparison as that's what I'm gaming just now 👌
The best golf vids on You Tube. You guys are awesome.
Great results. Can you guys do a Tour Response vs Project (a) comparison?
First time I have tried a taylormade ball and what a ball the tour response is love it
I’ve been waiting for this! Great video! Would love to see the tour response vs other balls in its category like the z star ⭐️
Great job guys. Maybe you could do a three ball test with Taylormade tour response, Srixon Q star tour and Titleist tour soft.
Bought a box after the 1st video. Immediately noticed the difference in spin. Even my hybrids and stopping within a foot of the pitch mark. Bought 2 more dozen. Was using q star tour
Hits a dozen shots within inches of each other and Ian says “good,” classic!!! Loving it.
Yeah. Wondering why he isn't on the pga tour. Those shots are ridiculous.
Played a box of the tour responses and loved them! Might be my go to ball after I get rid of my tp5's

Weight shift looks so much better Matt, less sway and more turn an load. Great job!

1:03 "if you know you're gonna lose 5 or 6 a box its rough" LOL... in that case I'm over here crying when I know I'm gonna lose them all.

Played TP5 for a while now. Was given the Response at a TM fitting and tried it. For me it's just a soft-feeling TP5. May be a bit straighter.
Anyone else love watching Matt smoothly hit half swing drivers 300 yards in the air?
no... because it makes my 120% effort full swing 270 yard drive look silly :(
Thks for this one guys ! Stay safe friends! We will play soon !
I play TP5x. It is getting cold in New York now. I'm thinking that the Tour Response with its lower compression would be a better choice for cold weather golf.
Great review. In my personal opinion, TP5 is the best ball on the market. But, for the price, I think I will play Tour Response.
The courses I play out here in California are tight and I can loose 2-3 per round even on decent drives. Something to consider for sure. I’ll try these.
Love Matt’s new swing. With that pause at the top he looks like Hideki on Tour.
Is this basically the 2020 model of the Project A?
I agree with the last viewer as this must be a replacement for the project (a) ball but I would like to see a comparison between response, snell (mtb), Q star, AVX, and Bridgestone. All 3 piece balls
Got one round in before the lockdown with the TR(yellow). Loved it!! Softer vs. Pro(a) and loved the performance! Seemed to spin a bit more around the greens too. Great ball for the buck!
Great vid. My opinion you still have to see what it does around the green and in the wind against the TP5, but looks good so far.
It reads "Dyanamic Loft (Degrees)" on driver stat page. It doesn't matter to me because typos happen but wanted to point it out in case you are using a standard template for your driver stat page.
Great video. I’m curious, which would work best in the winter months?
Just got a lot of balls. Got 4 dozen soft feel, 5 dozen z star, 3 dozen tour response. 2 dozen Tour b rx. Rx is my favorite ball but I haven’t tried the Taylormade yet
Been a Project A guy since that ball came out. Have been curious about Bridgestone offerings but will definitely give the Tour Response a go.
The tour response is the project a.
I hit my TP5x golf ball 355yrds(7 yards downhill) with my R15 driver on Friday. I honestly prefer them over the Pro V1's. They feel better, have a better launch angle for my play and have great spin off the wedges...
Picked some of these up at £35 for 15, just before lockdown! Feels great on the putter is the only thing I can say.

Mixed feelings on the visual of his swing but can’t argue with the results 🔥🔥
mixed feelings on his swing? .. hes got great tempo
Last gen Srixon Z Star is still very hard to beat.. Shade over $2/ball for great performance!
Looks like it’s worth trying. Well done guys. Great review
What an outstanding golf ball comparison 👏👏
This is the direct replacement for the Project (a) ball for 2020. The price for the Tour Response is around the same price as the new 2020 Q Star Tour. I have played both and prefer the Tour Response.
Nice video.. good job guys
Thank you guys for sharing.

Yes! Requested this a while ago! Cheers!
Great segment. Comparison also against Snell and Vice?
Great vid guys!! Seems like a really legit proposition for the weekend warrior.
Wonder how the 22 tour response would compare since they’ve done a bunch of updates to it.
I play the Taylormade project A. But looking at TP5, are they similar or would the TP5X be better? Love a taylormade ball.
Any chance you will compare the Taylormade soft response ball as well? Fits in that under 30$ USD price range
Is it possible to get less spin off the driver, more bite on approach shots and around the green? (with one of these balls) or do you prefer something different for that combo...
Tp5x is a fantastic golf ball
-. Low spin for me on 2i/3w/D - longest ball I’ve tested -
Spins plenty if you know how to impart spin on wedges
And they are incredibly durable
Matt hitting it ridiculously consistent. Are we sure he is a real boy? For me, nice comparison, but I'm stuck with my Pearl grade lake balls and pro v1. Its down to price and availability. Your still taking about an expensive ball with Tour Response.
Thanks for the review. Could you guys review the wilson duo professional?
Srixon Q Star Tour is my gamer. I can't wait to see you guys test it.
It would be interesting to see the with a person with a driver swing around 100 or lower swing speed.
