Good thing Master Duel has an "Influence" button so you can check effects like this directly on the monster cards. Including cards from this video, like Vendreads or Lyrilusc. ...unless its I:P Masquarena. One of the most popular extra deck staples in the game.
Thankfully, I:P does flash on-screen after the monster is summoned. Plus, she's so popular that I doubt most of everyone would remember that protection effect.
not really, 'influence' only pops up because the monster ends up gaining effect by and from the materials which is the case for vendread and lyrilusc but for something like i:p, accel stardust, prima donna etc its not granting it as an effect at all and remains as the effect of the material that was used, its essentially a lingering effect applied through using the monsters as materials
There's a particular effect that doesn't crop up anymore, mostly because I think Konami just forgot it exists (or they really don't wanna print more cards with this effect), but a few older monsters have this really funny line of text that goes something like "During the turn this card was Normal Summoned, you can Normal Summon 1 (archetype) monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set." The only way to stop this effect is to negate the summon of the monster, or have effect negation like Skill Drain already up. Trying to negate the effect after it's hit the board doesn't work since this isn't an activated effect, it just applies the moment the monster is successfully summoned. The reason I know this is because I used to goof around with Evilswarms way back and they have a monster with this exact line of text on it, Evilswarm Castor (Constellars have the same effect with Pollux). Used to get into ruling debates over this at locals, because 80% of the time the opponent would fire a Fiendish Chain on Evilswarm Castor, not knowing that Fiendish Chain cannot negate Evilswarm Castor's effect. Evilswarms also had another fun little trick, which was Evilswarm Bahamut & Book of Moon. Evilswarm Bahamut's steal effect doesn't care if the monster is face-down at the point of resolution, so if the opponent tries to make it immune to Bahamut, you can chain Book of Moon to it, flip their monster down, steal it, then flip it back up. Did this once to a Train player to steal their Super Dora.
Fossil Fusion can add some protection on your monsters if you used a monster on the opponent's GY, which will not flash because it is just part of the resolution of the fusion effect (I won 1 duel with it)
Me too lol. I once had a Drytron player lose to time because he had to shuffle back *his own Unicorn* because it was the only other card on the field 😂
Rouge Decks with essays as an effect text such as Ancient Warrior, that one reptile archtype who can only turbo out Bishbalkin or Time Thief for ak extend are the most annoying decks for me Till u find out how to win u either have lost already or the clock runs out. After that one duel u dont see them anytime soon & once u face them again after Years, it starts all over again
It’s also worth mentioning that these are counted as activated effects from the monster on the field. For example, if your opponent xyz summons a monster with phantom knight gloves (which boosts their xyz monsters attack by 1000 if used as a material) duel links will flash their xyz monster to indicate it is activating an effect. If you don’t look at the duel log and realize that the effect their activating is from gloves and you decide to negate THAT effect, they can still use their xyz monster’s effect that you probably thought you were negating. These effects can be used to bait your opponent, or be used to confuse you so it’s definitely worth talking about 😂
I remember timing myself out vs Lyrulusc because I had to check what was used for material. It's extra annoying because all of them look the same (derogatory)
not to bring it up AGAIN but cardfight vanguard only ever let this happen with the vanguard and either the card that you ride a new vanguard ontop of intantly pops its effect akin to (when you ride a level 1 or higher vanguard draw 1 card) or (when you ride a level 3 or higher vanguard soulcharge 1 from deck) and then if it isn't that way then it is the very specific "heart card rule" where the new vanguard states a card that must be in the soul under the vanguard for its effect just like the first effects.
as someone with ADHD i can confidently say that long turns and the card effect "remember this shit" will be instant death for me. boy, am i happy they added the visual stuff to show what effects are (still) usable at any point (unless of course it bugs out like how sometimes the game tells me "you wanna activate this cards effect?" and it only marks the part that say "this effect can be only used once per turn" [tho luckily so far its been only with very obvious situations like blue-eyes spirit dragons GY negation])
Magistus equips I can tell my opponents struggle to read because they don’t know how the text is laid out. The equips read like: Equip continuous effect (if it has one) Monster effect Equip activated effect (if it has one) The funny part about this is if your opponent reads wardrobe then Artemis. They’re going to tend to not look at the beginning part of the equip text since that’s the monster effect on those 2 cards. If they do forget this, they can forget to read that Vahram gives destruction protection and ninaruru gives an additional attack. Since those are both in the first block of text.
You should have added some honorable mentions about those djinn monsters that give added effects like vendread materials or the greater polymerization spell that gives 2 effects. Great video.
Is this vjd talking about lingering effects or effects that Continues happen while on field? If so does Witchcrafter haine meet the conditions as while on field she has target protection but opponent doesn't know that until it's to late
At this point there needs to be a summary docket for what happened on your opponents turn, like a board meeting. Only then will we be able to make the ultimate endboard burn: "That turn could've been an email"
As someone who's played mono-Lyrilusc irl, it's so annoying to track. Wish there's something I could use to actually track my card's effects. Also I was gonna comment Lyrilusc is a great example if you didn't mention it, but instead I'll say thanking you for seeing me. If you're suffering through it, so am I don't worry.
With MTGs imprint the card that has the imprint effect always mentiones what it does with the imprinted card, using it's color for chrome mox or casting it in the cases of isochron cepter or panoptic mirror, and since you always banish exactly one card for imprint it is custom to place that card underneath the card with imprint so that the opponent can read it. And I assume that simulators would let you hover over the part of the effect to show what was imprinted, though I don't use them so idk.
Me just waiting for the marincess stuff to actually drop so that my opponent will be totally confused why all my monsters are towers (Goddammit konami, what's taking so long?)
Oh yeah, baby. This is me. When I watched my unaffected card get affected by a floating effect, I almost quit the game forever. (Card with photon Vanisher as material attacking Exodia Incarnate)
on duelingbook i could just click keep going and read the board after they are done. i can just ask "what was x used on?". in duel links you gotta pay attention
Worth mentioning on md, when you summon a vendread or a bls or the goliath and i think birbs too its easier to know because there is a "influence" tab, now why it isnt on duel links idk
I think it's not mentioned cause it's not very common in Duel links. Yugo skill is most frequently used to play dice and make crystal wing. But you're right

Just another of the same thing another trolling video complaining about modern yugioh duel link I'm so F tired of this that every one his just a big baby and prefer to stay in the F past with no improvment, and they are so blinded by the F past they don't see an unfair combos that was done in the pass, but when it is modern duel link or this is You that combo is unfair and you see it because it is modern, and it is not like they are not unfair combos in old yugioh, they are.
