I think all of these points are the reason I love playing my Gaia the Fierce Knight deck despite it being significantly weaker than my other decks. -As a kid Gaia was my favorite Yugi monsters -My favorite moments with my deck are when I survive despite heavy opposition, fulfilling the fantasy I have of Gaia being a gallant knight that fearlessly charges towards the enemy -While I tend to play without engines, there are many archetypes that I can use without them ruining the fantasy/theme of the deck. On top of that the Gaia the Fierce Knight/Dragon Champion archetype has enough cards both old and new that I can pick from and essentially make the deck even more personalized (I have never seen someone use Soldier Gaia yet to me it's one of the "main characters" of my deck).
I can totally relate to trying to ensure engines don't ruin the fantasy of the deck And gaia sounds like a (painful, yet) wonderful time! I've only briefly gotten a glimpse from the Masterduel gaia solo duel, but I definitely can see what you mean by fearlessly charging towards the enemy!
the power fantasy is so real. This game is about making the game so unfucking playable for your opponent that its just straight hopeless for them and then beating them into the ground. When it happens to you? worst game ever created. When you do it to someone else? Best fucking game in the history of games.
My deck for the last three days in Master Duel? Silent Wolf Calupo Magical Hats Quick Booster Super Polymerization Secret/Bad Luck Blast Wild Tornado Dark Coffin Transaction Rollback Every Feather Duster I was glad not to be in the same room with the fellow that nuked their own cards... XD
@@mySQRLyugioh Fun fact: if they guess wrong on Calupo and have no Hand cards, Calupo stays. So they draw and use/Set it or... I'm trying to make the whole rest of the Deck work with Calupo: Flowerbot Baobaboon
10/10 video! This explains why I love the game so much despite losing all the time in MD 😅
