I remember discovering the secret menu accidentally but it was a smart way to accidentally discover the secret menu, I held up the Up+ L1,L2+R1,R2 and the secret menu was showed up. But I didn't knew about the down+select method, Thanks for the demo 👍 definitely gonna download it on my PSX emulator on my phone lol
We used to do this all the time when I was in grade school/high school. Also, MK4 has a similar cheat and I recall that if you enabled the stage fatality, all stages (except for the fan level) would have the spike ceiling.
I would love to try mk4, the only time I had ever played mk4 was when the arcade cabinet was first released. It tripped me out that the opponent ripped my arm off and beat me with it ha ha 😂😅🤣

I also knew a kid who went to the store after school to purchase mk1 for Sega, his parents gave him money, he had to return for his father to buy it for him because an individual had to be 18 to purchase.

Nice didn't know this! Pretty sure you can do the Question mark cheat on any of the options though not just the dragon one. Whenever I did the one button fatality cheat using the question mark button it never seemed to work with the characters I picked. They'd always fail the fatality.

In fact, Ed said there was still one more secret code that no one has figured out on the original arcade machines. It was only found out just 5 years ago. You would be able to enable free play with it. I would have done anything for that code back then! 🤣

MK4 cheat code menu was difficult to do because it requires you to do a 2 player combination code.

you may be able to do a stage fatality by holding a directional button while using this cheat. go ahead and try that out.

That's why the 16-bit versions did it better. They just had a cheat menu that allowed you to switch it on. It only resets when you reset the game.
This code :
