Historically the Washington Redskins used to regularly beat the Detroit Lions in the first or second round of the playoffs "like a drum", so I hope the Commanders can continue that proud tradition!
The metric from this season that stands out the most to me is the fact that although we have lost to five different teams this year, we have beaten every one of them (Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and Dallas) that we've had the chance to face a second time.
9.5 points is especially crazy when you consider the Commanders have not lost by double digits since Week 1, to the team they just beat in the playoffs. And if you look at what the Lions have done against 2024 playoff teams this year, the games are usually within one score or less, Minnesota blowout not withstanding. The Lions may win, but it will be a lot closer than a lot of people think
9.5 points is apropos to lazy reporting on our Washington franchise. The long standing narrative is what we’re sticking to because it’s just too much work to figure out where the Commanders actually stand in the scheme of things.
