Illegal hiking is taking valuable resources from HPD. Warnings didn't stop Illegal hiking. The stairs are coming down. Get used to it. Residents are thankful. Mahalo Mayor.
Warnings do nothing. Issue citations and arrest violators. If they have to be rescued, charge them the full amount for the rescue.
So wasteful to spend millions in taxpayer dollars to repair the stairs only to tear them down because a bunch of selfish whiners didn't like people hiking near their houses. Maybe don't buy a house next to a hiking trail if you don't want to live near one. This would be like buying a house next to a freeway and then insisting that no one drive on the freeway because you don't like the noise.
What a bunch of malarkey reasons for stopping people from enjoying nature. Pretty soon the only way to enjoy nature will be to look at pictures. Is this what we want people? This is draconian. If you don't like to get off your couch, don't include outdoors people with your sedentary life style. And yes, go ahead and charge people that need assistance, but don't penalize the 99.999% that don't.
Law enforcement in Kaneohe are so much more respected than the cops in Waianae ...
Should have fixed rather than destroy it. Then there would not be a problem
Be good people. Listen to your authoritarian. Be good little slaves. That's how we got into this mess. Sheeple
Oh gawd no!!! We got a Trumper here
@@geekazuo go get another booster. Then take your kids to CVS and give them another also. U turd
The construction equipment shouldn’t be there. One mayor shouldn’t just decide to tear out a historic landmark without putting it to a state wide vote. The legal route to the same location is far more dangerous.
WTF??? historic landmark? it IS a private owned by our utility company to do work......just like the military has that bunker atop of Diamond Head to watch for enemy planes in the early days....
@@Waynes-xt9gr it’s one of the best known hikes in the world and it has been for decades. I’d say that’s pretty historic.
Shhadddpp up
Na Ala Hele Trail & Access System
Warning doesn’t work. They need to be arrested and fined. Only then will they will understand breaking the law has consequences.
👍👍👍
I like the titles in pigeon.
In 2022 and 2023 there were over 1800 arrests for DUI when most blew .000 and went to jail. Why?
What is it about ilegal don't these trespassers understand?
Maybe the fact that millions of dollars in taxpayer money were spent repairing this popular hiking trail only for hiking it to then be banned because whiny spoiled brats bought houses next to a hiking trail and then insisted that no one be allowed to hike it.
Enforcing this as HNL burns elsewhere.😮
Arrest the violators w prison time nuff of this shit!
Try stop me
If these cops put in as much effort fighting real crimes rather than enforcing a victimless violations...
People are going to go to the top with or without the stairs. There is a "back door" trail to the top from both Aiea and Moanalua. Both hikes are VERY dangerous. The city just made a bad situation worse. But, when has the city ever done the smart thing?
Do Haiku adventurers belong to the tortured poets society? 😅
Waste of taxpayer dollars. Would be better spent to help people in Lahaina.
Who is posting these stories??? A kindergartens? Check your work before posting. Check your spelling. Las?
What, you no like da kine? Geesh
This is an overreaction. The fad will die down and influencer will stop hiking there eventually. This will just encourage more people to hike there illegally.
Hike em without no stairs? 😂
I mean, they're taking the stairs down so ofc it will die down.
@@blake1996six It's like saying take away prescription painkillers from people. People will find a way illegally that may cause the state even more money.
There is still the Stairway to Hell trail, I've never been on either, but I've heard that it is similar. I suppose people could hike there for a similar experience since the selfish whiners got this one removed.
@@ARKdeEREH You talking about Kahana Falls? in the North Shore area.? Anniversary is coming soon (Mothers Day tragedy).....at least 7 folks was KILLED due to a rockfall from atop the mountains.......
