Same goes for two you get the satisfaction of being apart of rebellion against the locus and in three you can feel the desperation in the overall game with the human race on its last legs. Each unique in its own style that’s the beauty of gears 1-3 that’s why I feel like those first three are there own game in a sense and not just prequels to gears 4-so on

I've just played them all back to back and usually when Baird tried to joke about something, the humor came from Marcus telling him to shut up. Where as the dialogue doesn't stop and they're constantly making marvel like quips in 4 and 5. The gameplay is way better in the newer ones and the story is actually okay and kinda interesting at points but the dialogue is a mess

I’m currently re playing gears of war 1 right now. I recently got my 360 cleaned up and bought the OG trilogy. (1,2,3). I’m on act 4 and enjoying the game. To say gears 1 is worse than 5 because it’s buggy just shows EVERYONE that you didn’t actually play gears 1 when it was released. This man expects a 17 year old game to be 120fps and 4k res. Gears 1-3 11/10. Nothing else can compete with the OG gears releases
Older i get. The more i see Gears 1 as peak Gears of War. Gears 2 was the terminator 2 of Gears of War. Gears 3 had wonderful gameplay, good MP maps, but i feel the campaign has aged badly over time or i haven't truly gvien it a chance. Mostly talking about the artstyle though, Gears 3 lost a lot of that early grit that gears 1 was smothered in.

I'm 24 now and over the year's I've started to realise how great the World building, pacing, atmosphere and tone is in Gears 1. Easily my favourite now. Gears of War 3 just loses the dark horror elements in my opinion and becomes way too action packed and over the top, which gears of war never was. I even like 4 more than 3 to some degree because of how it reintroduced the horrors at night and shit like that and we had to learn about a new enemy, etcetera. That being said, I will still always love Gears 3 and it's still a great game.

Honestly I have gotten 4 and 5 mixed up, I totally forgot most of the story. I've gone back to playing 5 and it's pretty solid. The one thing about this series is there isn't much of a leap between games besides a jump in graphics and maybe a few new weapons. They need to revolutionize the gameplay mechanics

Don't call Ultimate Edition "Gears 1". It's a remake of the first game and is trash compared to the original. The original game is great, AI was great and gameplay was great but they really fucked up with UE.

Don't get me wrong, I like the game, I have a lot of fun with it, the multiplayer is great (probably the best in the series), and the Hivebusters DLC is way better than the base game, but based on the campaign aspect, Gears 5 is last.

@doctahwahwee5032 Right, that's where I started having second thoughts on the newer games. It stopped feeling like "Gears of War." Especially in 4. The beginning of 5 was promising since the military was actually involved. After all the characters were introduced, and the story switches to the POV of Kait, the game basically said, "F*ck the military." And I don't think you ever hear from people that aren't Clayton, Baird, Marcus, or Paduk (Jinn in cutscenes) for the rest of the game. One thing I liked about the originals is how other squads would call in and ask for help or tell their status (especially in the Hollow in Gears 2). I feel like the newer games just ignore the whole, "We're at war." aspect. They literally took "Of War" out of the title 😭
The only bug i seen was a locusts body glitching in the wall buts its common in all gears games depending where they die and that glitch is never a problem its just a bit funny.
@kizaruthegreat how, it's objectively the smoothest gears game, the fact they got it to run what I think is 40~50 fps on the base xbox one is impressive, horde mode in gears 5 is better than any other gears hands down, although the multiplayer isn't as good as gears 3, I do think it's better than 1, 4s, and judgments, and the story is also solid. Everyone that I see dumping on gears 5 just seems like a bunch of, (and I hate to say this) boomers who wear rose tinted glasses, the older games don't hold up nearly as well as people think.

2 and 3 are easily the best of the franchise I almost wanted to tie them for first but personally I enjoyed 2 more especially in multiplayer back then. 3 was fun, but sometimes I would get bored of it . First time I played OG gears I was hooked but I got into it a bit late but by that time gears 2 was out, I already knew which was better. When Gears 4 was announced I was excited not gonna lie. I played the campaign and in the end im like is that it. The multiplayer in this game is the most fluid and feels the best while your playing it, wallbouncing in this game is honestly the easiest. Aside from judgements short campaign, it wasn't bad but it wasnt good either and they went the 343 route with putting gears against gears. Idk wat it is, I tried playing gears5 , but I just dont like this fkkn game. I'll admit the multiplayer is ok and it's faster than gears4 but it just doesn't click with me. It just made me go back to 4. I can't judge TACTICS because I haven't played it.
Gears of war, four and gears five both campaigns were really good in my opinion gears 1,2,3 and judgment campaign was really good as well

Don't call Ultimate Edition "Gears 1". It's a remake of the first game and is trash compared to the original. The original game is great, AI was great and gameplay was great but they really fucked up with UE.

Because its not bad? The campaign story might suck, but the Multiplayer is fluid and sweaty as always, the hivebusters DLC is good and Horde Mode is only held back by the Wave Limit and lack of enemy variety.

@doctahwahwee5032 Well, this guy seems to be ranking based on the campaigns alone, so I based my comment on the campaign as well. The base game campaign sucks. Therefore, I think it should be last. Don't get me wrong, I like the game, I have a lot of fun with it, the multiplayer is great (probably the best in the series), and the Hivebusters DLC is way better than the base game, but based on the campaign aspect, Gears 5 is last.
@@elininja2130 yeah i agree, only had fun in the campaign in the last chapters, not only because the game was almost over but also because it was the only part of the game that Felt like Gears Of War lol, i didnt had the courage to play It again, but i did finish Hivebusters 3 times for how good it was.
@doctahwahwee5032 Right, that's where I started having second thoughts on the newer games. It stopped feeling like "Gears of War." Especially in 4. The beginning of 5 was promising since the military was actually involved. After all the characters were introduced, and the story switches to the POV of Kait, the game basically said, "F*ck the military." And I don't think you ever hear from people that aren't Clayton, Baird, Marcus, or Paduk (Jinn in cutscenes) for the rest of the game. One thing I liked about the originals is how other squads would call in and ask for help or tell their status (especially in the Hollow in Gears 2). I feel like the newer games just ignore the whole, "We're at war." aspect. They literally took "Of War" out of the title 😭

The only bug i seen was a locusts body glitching in the wall buts its common in all gears games depending where they die and that glitch is never a problem its just a bit funny.

@kizaruthegreat how, it's objectively the smoothest gears game, the fact they got it to run what I think is 40~50 fps on the base xbox one is impressive, horde mode in gears 5 is better than any other gears hands down, although the multiplayer isn't as good as gears 3, I do think it's better than 1, 4s, and judgments, and the story is also solid. Everyone that I see dumping on gears 5 just seems like a bunch of, (and I hate to say this) boomers who wear rose tinted glasses, the older games don't hold up nearly as well as people think.
@@jeryram9969 i can still replay the gears games without any problems. Don't like gears 5 characters, story and especially that they went semi open world. I like the nice go from A to B gears with likable characters. Couldn't care less who i had to kill of in 5 tbh 😂
