    I just want to say that S & H is a fantastic dealer. We had an issue with a Kioti CTL. The thing was a lemon. Just didn't work right, and nobody could figure out the issue. They took care of everything. Loaner machines while the Kioti was in the shop, delivered.. never without a machine. They eventually bought it back at full price and got us an incredible deal on a New Holland.
    Buying a brand new machine, especially an unproven one like the Kioti CTL was kind of scary. When our worst fears were realized, we were very worried that we would take a loss on the machine or be stuck with a lemon. S & H did right by us and we will never shop anywhere else for equipment. I know this sounds like a commercial, but we have been so imoressed by them, and I can't help telling everyone when I get the chance. Dealer is way more important than the brand.

    Hi Brock while I agree with you that the JCB appears to be a very versatile machine. You have discounted the million more things that a mini excavator can accomplish. Your emphasis is on digging; while, the mini excavator can raise building walls, get shingles on a roof, stack up a fire. I had a Kubota Kx057-5 and except for grading the driveway with my tractor, the excavator has been the most useful piece of equipment I have. I fact my neighbor just bought a Kubota u48-5 and has transformed his property.
    You videos are great.

    This is the most solid machine I have seen in such a small frame. I would have to think hard about buying it, in preference to two machines, I think it would depend on how often it had to be transported and how far.

    Make a skid steer with similar engine layout and seat positioning as the JCB, BUT with the ability to run all tractor attachments in the rear. That is why I bought a tractor instead of a skidsteer. Better versatility and I can carry more stuff with my tractor (I made a 3pt carryall box that holds shovels, chainsaws etc). Love a skid steer, but if does just a few things great. I would have to make multiple runs to bring all skid steer attachments to the site. If you have a tractor than add a excavator to your toys then a skid steer depending on what your needs are.

    JCB has really gone downhill on reliability, I’ve had two 570-80 telehandlers for my hay business and they were not great. I do love there mono boom skid steer though. Most JCB dealers are upfront about reliability issues as of late. JCB redesigned the Fasttrac because they had lost so many sales to competitors. Setting all that side, this machine is very cool. Can you imagine having a thumb on the excavator and grabble on the front? That would be a nice land clearing machine.

    We have had JCB backhoes in the early 80s and never had a problem. I bought the JCB 1CXT backhoe, love the versatility of the machine, The visibility from the seat is great, leg room is good if you are 5'. But, in one year it has been in the shop 5 times at two different JCB dealers trying to fix the oil leak on the pivot for the backhoe. They have to wait for parts and or they have to call JCB to tell them how to fix it. They told me if it was not under warranty I would be paying $10,000 to $15,000 to fix it each time. I have put 1200 hours on the backhoe and I was told I use the machine too much. I just got the machine back again from the shop and it is leaking oil the first day. I told them I need a new machine because this is a lemon and I was told this will never happen. I wanted to trade this machine in for a cat skid steer and they only want to give me $34,000. I can't afford this machine when it is out of warranty.

    • @thinkfirst6431
      @thinkfirst6431 3 месяца назад +4

      You must be a nice guy. After the service problems you have had and the refusal to take the machine back I would have them in court to justify the reason why it can not be fixed and why you can use a construction piece of machinery "too much".
      I do not see how you can afford the machine while it is under warranty. It sounds like trash to me.

    • @bobwarfel241
      @bobwarfel241 3 месяца назад +2

      They fix it every time but it will only last 1 month to 1day after they had it in the shop for 2 weeks. Since I have work that I need this machine, I just keep working with it leaking until I get 1 job done. I am not lucky, so if I sued them I would lose and be out of more money then what I will be when I trade it in for some other machine.

      You have already beaten yourself by your attitude. It is the skill of the attorney and the lemon laws of your state, not your luck, that will determine the outcome. Most of the time dealers and manufactures will settle out of court instead of facing the unknown of a court case.
      Have you contacted JCB customer service directly about this problem? Explain the problem and ask them to ether fix the problem permanently or buy back the machine. You have 1200 hours on the machine so you can't expect to receive all of your money back in the case of a buyback.
      If you do not get your problem solved I would start posting on social media and making youtube vids of the problem you are having with the machine and getting it fixed. You need to deal with the dealer and the manufacturer getting both involved in the postings and vids. Doesn't have to be a polished vid or an hour long as long as it shows the problem honestly, mentions the dealer and the manufacturer, and what they did and did not do for the problem. Weekly updates or daily if needed will start affecting their sales. That's what I would do if it was my machine.
      I don't know what the warranty is or how much there is left but I would have that machine in the shop until it was fixed, bought back, or was a permanent fixture in their shop taking up work space. I would be a pain in the ass to the dealer and manufacturer until there was an acceptable solution.

      @leslubiesdetienne 3 месяца назад +1

      @@sergemarlon I just saw your reply. Like anything business related it's a cost/revenue balance. You can accomplish more in a day with a Mecalac than with a mini excavator or a skid steer. One machine to maintain, one machine to insure etc. it's somewhat easy to justify a higher hourly rate as long as it's overall cheaper for a client to hire you over someone with a cheaper hourly who will take more time to do the job. So as long as you have good networking skills, find a niche, do decent marketing etc. the machine will pay for itself and potentially make more money than an other machines because you can get more done more quickly.

    • @leslubiesdetienne
      @leslubiesdetienne 3 месяца назад +1

      @@Gimblevalve Cost is a funny thing. if a tool lets you accomplish twice the work in half the time, so what if it's more expensive? That's still 4 times the work for twice the comparative cost of lets say a mini ex. And it's often more than twice the work in reality, not an exaggeration. I've completed jobs in 45 minutes than would have taken me 4-5 hours with my mini-ex and that's not counting the things I simply would not have been to do in any sane amount of a time with a mini.

      You should be able to, I think it only changes the function of your other joystick to the backhoe from the front bucket controls, but it might change the direction of your tracks so it's intuitive which would be cool!

    They are neat machines and a good price point. My concerns are all of the exposed hydraulic lines, small thin linkages and other noticeable weak points. I see a lot of repairs and downtime in its future and due to that reason, the cost essentially goes way up.
    A slightly used backhoe and an almost new skidsteer would be roughly the same price and you have a "backup" machine for when you need to go do some work. Also a backhoe is way heavier and can drive down the road negating the need to transport it.
    This machine would also not be a good option for any larger work than landscaping or other small work. Leaving you out of most of the market.

      Not only lack of quality, but awful parts availability, and their service department can't figure out what's wrong. Furthermore, he specified he needed the equipment to perform a specific task, they provided equipment that didn't meet the specifications, requiring individual handling of fractions of a pallet rather than handling the pallet as a single whole unit. Totally fine if you're an individual and the end user, but if you're in a business that might have need to move multiple of that pallet in a day, your work load has quadrupled.

    It’s not a skid steer don’t try spin it into one.The engine is in the front making it a dozer platform with a backhoe on it.Skid steer platform uses a rear engine that is ballast weight for the loader arms that connect to the rear by the engine creating stability and natural level

    So it’s a skid steer with a backhoe on it. Ok for anything while sucking for everything. Maybe landscaping companies would like it. Good luck when it breaks or blows a hose

      Pretty much every Excavating or service business has a machine that cost the same amount. A lot of times they have two machines that cost this much to do the same work.
      My John Deere Skid steer with a few attachments was $100,000

  • @gckshea

    For a machine with this cost, there's no reason the lateral shift of the backhoe boom should be essentially manual. It should be hydraulically operated, period.

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  4 месяца назад +1

      Are you sure that is better? Adding a lot of extra components when it’s really easy to just push it over with the boom

      @@RockhillfarmYTis one more ram that much more complicated?

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  4 месяца назад

      @@whiskeyinthejar24 I don’t think one Ram is what would be required. I think it would require a lot of things. You probably need two to make it slide and not bind.
      Then you need the hoses and you need the electronics to control it.
      Get much easier. You’re still just moving your lever to move the boom sideways. It’s not like you have to manually do something. They just used the cylinders that are already on it.

    • @gckshea
      @gckshea 3 месяца назад

      @RockhillfarmYT I didn't say better. I said standard. No reason a lateral ram mechanism, to shift the boom, suddenly makes the machine suddenly more complicated or less reliable. In fact, it'd be very simple.
      I like the concept of this machine a lot. It'd make sense in many scenarios.

      Which means a bigger truck and a bigger trailer. I’ve already spent a fortune on trucks and trailers, but I can’t haul two 10,000 pound machines at the same time.

    If that machine had a hydraulic boom shift rather than having to push or drag it side to side it woukd have increased itd usefulness by a fair bit. It didn't even need to be any amazing feats of engineering it could have just been a small hydraulic motor and a piece of cable looped around it once and attached either side simple engineering like they once used on side shift forklifts. Something in my opinion that would have made the machine that much better .
