"The amount of things that we call 'responsible' that really in our bizarre unconscious language means not following my heart. What if we rewire that it's responsible to follow your heart". I think we can solve 70% of people's problems with that quote. This is particularly true for people in our parents/grandparents era.

Today I received the idea that people use the word "responsible" as a synonym for "safe." Safe from being judged or shamed for "making a decision other people wouldn't make.
"Be responsible" is like saying "stay in your box of certainty, of boredom, of death. Shrink your goals and your spirit to no bigger than your parents could accept for themselves."

i just recently sold my apartment in NYC so that i could do this exact same thing! the freedom is the prize and i could not be happier that i honored my soul by leaving a place that i was tied down to in every way. thanks Kyle for your amazing work 😊

Wooo. I feel that. I was paying MORE money to live in a place I didn't like, because I thought I had to, and I took the leap, and it's been AMAZING. We spent 2 1/2 years traveling. Cut our cost of living, improved our quality of life beyond measure. And then stumbled on a lifelong dream that popped up in the most miraculous way. Now, we're starting our dream retreat ranch. Go! Follow your heart!!! Go go go!

I'm an old guy of 82 and have studied these kind of things all my life. I really like the way he explains.

In my family (Poland) we have more than one experience of loosing a flat or home. I don't earn money, I live in flat, I want to live in small mountains & I am open to go beyond my subconscious patterns.
This was excellent! I'm living in a space and area that is sucking life out of my soul. I stayed here the last 3 years hibernating in a very cold small town climate as a relationship ended and job ended. It was affordable for me given my circumstances. I don't have family support and yet stayed in my home state as it's what I knew. I live in fear and play small based on past programming. I dream for more. I have a new recent job now working remote as a Real Estate assistant. I want to own my own home in a warmer climate before another winter and yet feel it's out of reach due to finances, being single, and the current high priced market...My ultimate dreams are a new home space in a warmer climate I love coming home to, vibrant health, and a loving relationship to share everyday life with!

I've been really resonating with your work Kyle, for the last 5 or 6 months. You say things right now like "You have a pattern in your body that says irresponsibility is a lack of love." or you have videos with tittles like "You're allowed to waste your life." or "Effort doesn't work anymore, vibration over action" I spent the last few years beating myself up about my struggle with graduate school, ballooning student debt, and inability to find a professional job that matches my degree. NOW I HAVE CANCER !!! All of that pain and guilt was just a prison I was building for myself and now I'm dealing with something I can't work or can't shame myself out of. I'm not working right now, am on social security disability, but still feel guilty or judged for not working by other people or people I'm dating. I've started dating a lot more because of the free time I have, crazy I know. Maybe everything you try to do while having cancer feels crazy. I am feeling so much right: Stop the toxic shame around work! Maybe I will die soon. My therapist says no one ever reaches the end of their life wishing they had worked more.
Such a great chat. By allowing myself to be "irresponsible," I found ME and MY life, AND the ability to be responsible.

Amazing. I believe so many adults have anxiety because of this pattern of: "You can´t be irresponsable" If one can't experience irresponsability freely, how is it supposed to learn responsability? It only makes one be anxious 24/7 about "not being irresponsable or else..."

Ok enough is enough...I keep making (bad) decisions out of fear of not having/making enough money and it's time to seek help. I tried to overcome those auto-sabotaging patterns by myself but it didn't work because I keep encountering different situations in which I lose all the (little)money I gain. I feel like my self-worth is tied to the money I manage to get because whenever I lose or spend money it hurts so much. So now I want to commit to finally healing everything about myself and be at peace with myself no matter what happens to my finances. I want to invest in myself by joining the Absolute Everything Pass
Oh holy crap. I definitely have been living under the weight of fear that I will be a bad person if I don’t get all of my gift out and I’ve known it but nobody ever said it out loud before and that just moved it. It shifted and I felt it in my body.

Sooo....I became an empty nester and the universe opened an opportunity for me to go to Puerto Rico for a couple of months this last winter. It took me about 10 days to start looking for a house and lo and behold I just closed on it a few weeks ago. I have a house in Oregon that I've lived in for the last 16 years that I'm still paying on...as well as the job that affords me these mortgages...eeek! Just saying that sounds like prison!
I have been planning to keep both houses and rent out whichever one I am not at throughout this whole process...until this last week. I began toying with the idea of selling the Oregon house and therefore paying off debt and having a little pile of money to live off of for a couple of years in PR.
Listening to Kyle has really helped highlight that hanging onto the Oregon house is about 90% FEAR BASED!!! I just got off the phone with my mom and before I told her my concerns she said she figures she would see me more often if I moved as when I come back to OR it would be for dedicated visiting with friends and family.
I've worried about fixing up my house and all kinds of things and as Kyle pointed out...those real estate vultures are out there offering top dollar cash and not caring about any of that.

I don't believe Deanna was scared of disappointing her parents. I believe she was scared of starting over in a new place, a fear everyone has. Even if you have the money to move with, or you're leaving a bad situation for a better one, it's still scary as hell. It's the fear of change that keeps people stuck even after they've worked out their other blocks.
Absolutely. This was my exact situation after my divorce this summer. I had money and resources and was completely starting over, and moved to Kauai… a great highest path life. and still scared shitless when I did it. Still navigating all of it. It’s never as simple as we think
This is exactly the situation I’m in, too. 5 years after losing the love of my life I’m still in the house we fixed up together, and while it’s paid off, idk whether to stay or sell. It’s both prison and freedom rolled into one, esp when I see so many young people struggling to get started with homeownership. I really get Deanna’s feeling of guilt. 💯

This is such a potent conversation for me. I find it so interesting that you/we could all see the clear path to relief for Deanna. I’m not in her situation, yet I wondered what clear path others could reveal & clear up for me.

I broke free from my moms standard of life, which was nothing but struggle and scarcity, which I realized when I became a parent. I went thru the phase of resentment, to forgiveness because I realized it wasn’t her fault. She did the best she could with what she knew. But I had to tell her she’s never lived her best because she was lied to as well. I’ll be the first to break the generational trauma. ❤
Kyle, I’m in a similar situation as Deanna. This helped me put things into greater perspective, although I acknowledge I have a lot of inner work yet to do. I can view this house as my ticket out of here, or as an opportunity to make it into something greater. I know it’s all going to unfold based on whichever one I ”feed.”

This is extremely freeing! I have been living in Mexico for 4.5 years (after divorcing a relationship of 18 years) following my heart, working on returning to myself, healing and I've never felt so closer to my family before. I stepped out of all of the "expectations" i had put on myself. It's still messy in my head the subject of responsibility, but trust me, I've dismantle so many contracts and I've noticed i satu in that mental space shorter periods of time, now.

Kyle, honestly you could have been talking to me. Although I’m in Australia my circumstances and mindset are uncannily similar. Responsibility, obligation, expectation, past programming … omg, I’m grappling with this but everything you say I know, yet I’d forgotten just tonight. I’ve been following my heart for the past nine months, travelling around Australia yet now on the verge of going home and making life changing decisions I’m floundering because of a feeling of guilt and obligation. OMG...such an eye opener about this subject : responsibility...the misinterpreted/misunderstood word: responsibility....for whom? Who trained us/ hammered in us what it is? And pleasing whom? and why we destroy our life and every day joy just to try to measure up somebody elses ( parents, society, friends, grown-up kids etc) measurement what is their interpretation/judgement about responsibility?

she is in the exact situation as me. I'm sitting on a goldmine rental property in Massachusetts. I have no life here. All my money goes to running this house. I have no idea where else to live and want to keep my house for when I'm retired if that's even possible to bring to my life.

Another option: Create a separate entrance for the room(s) if possible and lock the door to the room on your side. I like the decision making process you showed here. I've been struggling with a decision and now it's clear how I need to go about making it.

Responsible = worry and anxiety because as a kid its a big word and I am unsure what it means so I am afraid that if I am not this big word I am unlovable! Yup!
At age 43 I finally told my Jewish mother that I love Yeshua. Lol. I dropped the Jewish mother shame and guilt projection that has haunted me for years and I have never felt so free.
