The single was released in November 1977.
It reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978.
The British-American rock band gained huge popularity after the release of its power ballad "Waiting For A Girl Like You" in 1981.

Senior year of High School 1978- I drove a 70 Mustang with a factory AM/8-Track- No FM. I had a case that held eight 8-track tapes., sat btwn the bucket seats as this was before they started putting arm rests/consoles there.- This was one of the tapes. Hearing it made me have some serious flashbacks. God I wish I was 18 again lol

Had this song on 8 Track tape back in the 70's. Sounded great in my 68 Chevelle. From the Foreigner 4 album. The stereo was a Craig Pioneer. Got stolen and never replaced. I miss those days.

YES, I am one of those fans of the music who knew about this music WAY BEFORE Supernatural. But...
What I love about Supernatural is that it showcased such great CLASSIC ROCK MUSIC with good ghost stories, muscle cars, hot guys, feisty females and GREAT MUSIC! What's not to love? I don't care why people come here. I understand that fans of the music genre have been fans long before Supernatural even existed; ME INCLUDED. I was born in the 70's and raised on it.
Still though, I love that my favorite genre of music is so heavily and predominantly featured in one of my favorite TV shows as well. It's a WIN WIN for me.
Do I think it's sad that some of the younger fans of the show out there are just discovering this music for the first time and were not raised on it... sure, but what's important is that they're discovering it now.
Maybe... just maybe... their pallets will be changed forever.

I was driving along and a local oldies radio station played this as a matter of course. I have heard this song on and off for years but it never clicked with me. Well, now it did. I read the lyrics to get the meaning. The lyrics are great and the whole composition of the song is fantabulous, the instruments, singing and point. It's not especially fantastic but it really hits on the emotional.
Supernatural brought me back here to the days when I was young.
Primarily about Lou Gramm leaving to join the band who were mainly British (remnants of Spooky Tooth & King Crimson) but moved to the states, "I left a small town.." (Rochester NY)
..for the Apple in decay!" (NYC) yeah, it wasn't a "nice clean" city back then!
this brings me back to 1978 ...me a young 20 yrs kid from Puerto Rico on training with the US Army at Ft Gordon, GA...blasting this song at the Jukebox ( remember those?) at the NCO club

This is the first time I have seen the lyrics to this song. I always liked this song, but I like it more now that I know all the words. As always, Foreigner had great songs. I just wish they could have stayed together as the original band. But unfortunately good things don't last. For me, Foreigner (Mick, Lou, Dennis, Ian, Al, and Ed) will always be the true and most famous rock band of all time.

I understand why people say supernatural brought them here. What I don't understand, is why other people complain about those people who claim they watch supernatural. It's called being a fan. You guys don't need to be mean and say that show is bad in different unsophisticated ways. In my opinion, I think it's good that people are coming here to listen to some of the best music. I hope one day you sad and lonely people will find a nice show that you can deeply relate to. Then maybe you won't be such judge mental people.

+Sydney MacNaughton I think the point that there trying to make is that Supernatural was the only reason they came here, just watching a cult tv show, before seeing supernatural these people had no appreciation for Foreigner or the songs they made, or any song or band they heard of from supernatural. Its almost like a child spotting a gold ring and taking it because it was shiny with no understanding of the value or worth the gold, im not trying to insult anyone so im sorry if it came out that way.

Wow, I bought this in vinyl about 5 months after it came out. 4.99. My older brother did the 8-track thing and bought it too. As you can guess, the tape player he had dined on it long before the vinyl started to pop, hiss and skip.

Early Foreigner was a very interesting mix and mystery. The sound of his voice versus the synthesizer and, the clavinet is very strong. The guitar just kind of lays back there and Rifts away. And the real Missing Link is the incredible saxophone playing of Ian McDonald. He was the secret weapon of early Foreigner
I hope we'll be here when they're through with us...

Friend of mine bought this on 8 track back then and the idea was Foreigner was going to save rock 'n roll. When I heard the second album and Hot Blooded, I knew that they weren't the answer. Punk music was the answer. This and Feels Like The First Time hold up pretty well.
