BB8 is probably my favourite droid from the movies. He is so funny! Could u make Rey's golden lightsaber? It is the one in the last scene of Rise of Skywalker!
Glad to hear it Jayne t! My first tip is try as much as you can to cut the pieces from the templates accurately using a precision knife (not a scissors). If you do that you're sure to have at the end a very similar result. My second tip is don't get demotivated, these builds can be time consuming and quite frustrating when it's your first as it's going to look like craps till you reach the 80% done lol so trust your work until the very end you'll see it's worth it! 😉
I'm pretty good with this kind of stuff but just wondering how long it took you to do. I'm about to leave for the navy so I don't have much time to do this but I really want to give it as a gift. Could it be done in a day or 2?
Well it's difficult to say as it depends on a lot of things, if you're good at this I think you could make it in a few days indeed, but 2 days might be a little bit short though. But as I said it's difficult to say.
Thanks for highlighting that Antoni! Because that is the real challenge with cardboard lol making curves is quite tricky with cardboard and it took me a bit of time to find the right efficient ways.
Great video! One Star Wars droid I have always wanted to have is the "gatekeeper" droid. You see it when C3PO and R2D2 are at the entrance to Jabbas' palace (Return of the Jedi) and at the entrance of the Imperial Moff, (He asked the mandalorian to find the "Child" ), in the first episode of The Mandalorian. It is basically a mechanical large eye on a long pole.
Well I think it depends on how much you're used to do that type of build and how accurate you want the end result. If you want to reach the same level of accuracy on the details and if you're not used to make craft out of cardboard, I think it's gonna be very hard for you to finish it by the end of the week end. But if cardboard crafting has been a thing for you for month or years and if you're not too demanding on the end result (because you'll have to shorten the time you spend working on the details at the end as they are very time consuming) I think you could make it. So it really depends on what are your skills with cardboard and your goals for the end result. I hope that helps a little bit!

For me About a week and a half at a rate of a few hours per day, but I had to make it from scratch (without templates and without this tutorial of course) so it's not a good evaluation of the time that you'd spent on it if you decide to make it (if it's the reason why you ask) as you have the templates and this tutorial, it should be much faster for you. ;)
Hot glue should work fine! Except for the parts where I smooth the surface, or to make the mix of glue and water obviously... If you don't have white glue and you can buy some, you'll have to lose these steps unfortunately... The smoothing is not that important but you won't be able to apply the paper at the end, that will make your build looking very different than mine. But it might be a great style too. If you look at my first tutorials you'll see that I didn't use this technique before, and the result was cool anyway. So it's up to you ;)
I won't Mansur md because cardboard is not a good material when it comes to that part unfortunately, like at all... Painting them would make all the imperfections visible, and it would end up looking like a craft made by a young child lol to a certain extent... If I wanted to paint them I would use different materials like EVA foam, resin, plastic or even wood, but it wouldn't aligned with the topic of this channel which is making props using cardboard only! :)
Sorry The pro gamer 2021 but it has to be a prop from a movie or a show for it to be aligned with the topic of this channel. And this one isn't into this category... for now 😉
