Sometimes people do not want to hear the true. Independence was not a good decision. Look at the comparison between Martinique, BVI, Saint Vincent and Saint Lucia. No island in the Caribbean is self-sufficient and that is why we are always asking the CBD and the European Bank for money. Look at the example of Dominica and BVI after Hurricane.
