As a st. Lucian it was nice to see this video to reflect on the beauty of my home, but one thing the British weren't the first Europeans to colonize st. Lucia, that was the French. And its pretty widely stated and thoroughly confirmed that it was the French. Just wanted to point that out but nice points especially the point about Castries, cause us locals actually do that our selves and try to stay out of Castries as much as we can help it. St. Lucians like to keep stuff moving at a smooth and good pace cause we detest wasting time. All the tourists make it crowded and hard to move so we try to get stuff out of the way before the cruise ships arrive. Its to the point where if you don't do so you get a snarky remark from other st. Lucians for being so careless.😅 although its mostly said as a dramatic inside joke between locals.
We're planning a trip there and considering the Coconut Bay Beach Resort, any thoughts on staying there or that part of the island?. We want to attend the jazz festival but see that the festival is at the other end of the island so we might have to stay closer because of transportation. Thanks.
@@DnBarPoet77 I am a Lucian myself, I have been to coconut Bay many times actually and it is a GREAT experience. The south of the island is actually the more favorable part of St.Lucia. Coconut Bay is in the south and right alongside a great beach that over looks Maria Island(an island that is preserved because of the different species of iguana there) and a number of peninsulas as well. Great views, experiences and it is also the best hotel or resort in St.Lucia for families as well. The price is also the best in the island. Whilst the festival is a good distance away it isn't that bad because it will take you 1 hr and 30 mins max to get there from the hotel and you will also have the comfort of being really close to the most attractive part of the island. Hope this helps you make your decision. Thanks for taking our beautiful island into consideration for a vacation. Hope you enjoy your time here. Actually I know you will. God bless!!
Maybe its just semantics, but can a place be 'discovered' if people already lived there? that's like saying i have lived in my house for 20 years, but it was 'discovered' by the white folks up the street last week. Seems to me those early native folks 'discovered' it...the Euros just sort of saw it as they sailed across the ocean looking for whereever they could land their boat. Just sayin...
Seems very possible to live there, was looking at real estate last night. Buy a small apartment condo near the beach for the price of a suburban home. More friendly to returement i would say
Great tips, thanks for sharing. We´re heading to St Lucia in February, the boat rental and bike rental look particularly interesting :) What was the name of the boat rental company? thanks!
Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed in St. Vincent not St. Lucia. The stone archway with the hanging skeletons you are referencing is in Walliabou Bay on St. Vincent. If it is true hidden gems of the Caribbean that you are seeking then I suggest your next video be centered on St. Vincent which is full of them.
Rubbish, St Lucia most definitely was featured, see here: www.newsamericasnow.com/five-caribbean-locations-from-pirates-of-the-caribbean-you-should-know/ Go spam elsewhere to someone who cares.
The hanging skeleton scene that he references in the video was most definitely not shot in St Lucia. The arch features in the movie is in Wallilabou Bay in St. Vincent
