DSSTDTC is used to capture the date of disposition (eg: date of treatment/study completion or discontinuation). DSDTC is meant date of collection of the information. Let's say a subject chose to discontinue the study on 10Jan but this information was collected on 11Jan. 10Jan will be populated in DSSTDTC and DSDTC will be 11Jan.
in a basic study design, we will have a mininum of 3 periods - screening, treatment, follow-up. subjects may choose to discontinue the treatment and agree to continue to the follow-up assessments. So, we capture treatment status and study completion/discontinuation status separately.
Background - Each clinical trial is considered a study. In a study, the main intention is to 'treat' the subjects but prior to treating the subjects some time is spent for screening the subject to check if all eligibility criteria of the study are met and some time is spent after completion of 'treatment' to follow-up on the medical condition of patients. So, study involves all these periods and treatment involves only the period in which the subject is treated with 'study medication'.
