Appreciate this post so much! Corey is so humble from the first time I met him at his church in Bk. He continues to inspire me. Fascinating instrument. Salute.
Great playing. I didn't realize how versatile the Harpejji could be...in the right hands. I could see music inspiration coming from the new controllers, like the Harpejii, LinnStrument or Haken Continuum. The Roli Seaboard created too much tension in the hand for me but may be great for others. I want to like the microtonal controllers (Tonal Plexus) but the sounds drive me bonkers...maybe that is an acquired taste.
It's a really fascinating instrument especially to pianists because one limitation we have is that every chord has a different shape to it - a C major chord will feel different than a D major chord intrinsically because of the piano's layout. At some point this becomes fairly trivial to experienced piano players but this "limitation" still exists nonetheless. Being able to slide a chord shape around and keep its quality like you can do on a guitar, and bend individual notes (without a pitch wheel or special kind of keyboard), plus the sound of strings on frets, are all things that piano players have not been able to do until the Harpejji.
Ok, I get it now. Gain is pretty vital to this instrument. Without it, it would be less sensitive, have less sustain, and kind of quiet. That’s also responsible for that hiss when it’s not being played. It sounds like a hot single coil pickup. A noise gate would help. Or a humbucker style pickup with a second coil to cancel out the hum/hiss.
the pickups are individualized per string and are only activated when your finger taps down, completing the circuit. I think he's just got a lot of pedals and it sounds like it's DI'd not going through an amp
Corey was ABOUT to explain the harpeji but you interrupted him about how it doesn’t make sense. Well, he was about to tell you but hey why not cut him off! Click bait video.
You can run all types of a effect pedals to get different sounds but I think if you’re trying to get a keyboard sound and you’re a keyboard player just go back to the keyboard
Yeah man, fx pedals and guitar amps... That's what he did when he switched the sound. He went from clean(no effects) to the pedal that made it sound like an acoustic guitar, then it sounded like an electric guitar with distortion, then that jazzy guitar sound, then the bluesy sound toward the end... All different tone settings on his outboard pedals
@@Just_Milesp2085 The phononer should've gently aimed it towards the pedals, but didn't. I searched for "acoustic simulator pedals" and there were things like AC-3 and Bodyrez, and cheaper mini knockoffs.
@@GizzyDillespee Yeah, I figured too. Thanks. However, in a stream Cory said he doesn't use guitar simulator pedals... so it might just be the natural harpejji sound with a bit of reverb.
I see you Cory with that nintendo switch!!! haha even GOATS gotta play Mario kart. Knowing Cory he can probably play a hymn in that too
I seen that. He's probably a beast at smash bros lol
Lmao probably
... now i wanna hear his take on the mario kart lick...
Exactly I’m sure because of that infamous solo in Mario kart 8 deluxe
These are types of musicians I would be happy just being at their sound checks.
Dude you starting 2022 bringing us that heat!!! 🔥
Bro I’m trying to catch up with you I was off last year doing other things!!!lol
@@wheatworkspro Yeah man, I got your message ima give you a call

I always loved acoustic guitar and this is the closest a keyboardist gets keep demonstrating
I saw Stevie Wonder playing a harpejji during an interview a few years ago. I guess that instrument really attracts piano players.
Ah but Stevie Wonder can play anything.

His brain adapts to this new format like it's no big deal. Brilliant.

Thank you for continuing to bring us amazing content. Major salute & blessings to you Sebastian
First comment. Cory is 🔥
Nice glissando. Gorgeous voicings and arrangement. Cory must be the ablest player of this unusual instrument.
Jacob Collier also quite able on this cool instrument

Thank you for that video. What an amazing instrument in the right hands.
"I've been practicing churchy stuff" lol
Wait, does this have the same layout as button accordion? Where the major scale has the same pattern regardless of the key?
Those basslines thou 🔥
He hardly explains anything though.
God set all the sliders to 99 with this brother. Amazing talent!...

my only question is can you have different tones for it like electric keyboard and guitar
